The Best Persian Rice | How to Make Jeweled Rice Pilaf by Lounging with Lenny

  • Persian rice. Today I will show you how to make persian rice with tahdig. My jeweled rice pilaf with dried apricots, cherries, raisins, pistachios and slivered almonds is crispy on top and is perfectly cooked. I will use basmati rice for my persian rice.
    Follow my step-by-step recipe how to make persian rice and enjoy.
    Persian rice ingredients:
    2 cup basmati rice
    12 saffron threads
    1 onion
    1/3 cup dried apricots
    1/3 cup dried cherries
    1/3 cup raisins
    1/8 tsp cinnamon powder
    1/8 tsp cumin
    1/8 tsp all spice
    1/8 tsp black pepper
    1/8 tsp ground cardamom
    salt
    6 tbsp butter

    As a persian I’ve never saw this recipe for rice in my entire life although that it could be delicious, the only thing that I can say is you have to grind the saffron and add hot water or ice to it instead of adding saffron to the water then stir it.

    Ps. instead of pistachios and almond, I used pine nuts, and cold-brewed the saffron, it turned out wonderful

    I am cooking it now. However, you don't put any liquid in it. I feel like my rice is burning.

    While my rice just came out and it was awful. Totally not cooked. Are you sure you're not supposed to put some broth in there to cook it? There is no steam to cook it.

    You said 6 to 8 minutes. No way is basmatti rice cooked in that time. It takes almost 40 minutes. So that was very misleading.

      As a Pakistani, I can confirm basmati rice only takes like 10-15 minutes to fully cook it.
