What’s new for 2024? The 2024 VW Atlas gets a new engine, better fuel economy compared to the old VR6, a sleeker look, a redesigned front grille with black accents that show off the large air intakes, stacked adaptive LED headlamps, an available end to end rear lightbar and an illuminated VW logo. The 2024 VW Atlas interior sees some nice updates too with more premium materials, extra standard features including, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a height adjustable passenger seat and IQ.Drive. There’s also a new model Peak Edition with a more rugged look, love that green colour.
There is just one powertrain option now for the 2024 VW Atlas , gone is the old turbocharged 4-cylinder and VR6. Instead, you get a new 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

In Canada, the 2024 VW Atlas starts at $49,995 CAD, Peak Edition $53,995 CAD, Highline $56,995 CAD and Execline R-Line $59,995 CAD.
The 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport starts at $48,895 CAD, Highline $55,895 CAD and Execline R-Line $58,895 CAD.
    In the US, the Atlas SE FWD/AWD $37,725 USD/$39,625 USD, SE w/Tech FWD/AWD $41,665 USD/$43,565 USD, Peak Edition SE w/Tech $46,555 USD,
SEL $48,445 USD, Peak Edition SEL $50,435 USD, SEL Premium R-Line $52,455 USD.
    The Atlas Cross Sport SE FWD/AWD $36,715 USD/$38,615 USD, SE w/Tech FWD/AWD $40,655 USD/$42,555 USD, SEL $47,435 USD, SEL R-Line $48,885 USD
    SEL Premium R-Line $51,445 USD.

I love German automobiles but never owned one. I’ve always bought Honda and honestly never ever had any problems. This new VW atlas in my opinion is the best looking suv in it class, I so want to buy one but am afraid of it reliability.

We have a 2019 VW Atlas Exc line. We got the bench seat as well as we fit three car seats across the middle bench, while still being able to access the third row if needed. So far it has been an excellent experience as the kids grow. We have a 6year old and (2) 4 year olds. They have lots of leg room in that second row. The updates look nice but still no hybrid which we would be interested in for getting another SUV.

Great review, I just purchased a 2024 Pure Gray Atlas Cross Sport Execline. Finding little "easter eggs" not listed in a manual. You can actually shut off car while it is still in Drive mode and stopped and it also applies the Parking Brake - no need to move shifter to Park then engage Parking brake. Also first ever HUD that I can see with Polarized sunglasses :) :) :) Yep I miss the volume knob as I traded in a 2023 VW Tiguan Highline R Line. Regards Carl

I’ve had only GTI my entire life until 5 years ago I stepped up to an R and don’t think I could go back to a GTI now. I would have ordered the MK8 R a few years back from being old school only wanted buttons and switches and knobs. Seems like VW had finally partially listened to us by returning physical buttons on the Atlas steering wheel. I saw one at a local auto show this month and man it was so comfortable and loved the styling and what you get for the money in the se/w technology package along with the cool lighting features at night. Didn’t think it was too bad at 46k USD.

Nice SUV. I'd have preferred that matte "wood" on the center console instead of the cursed piano black... And though I realize that worldwide, 2.0 turbos are a thing that's been legislated into ubiquity... I can't help thinking a 2.3 or a 2.5 liter displacement would have made a lot of sense for drivability. Overall, very nice car . Does anyone know if VW has started to put port and direct injection into their motors? That avoids carbon buildup.

Have a '24 and I'm not a fan of the knobless/buttonless controls. I drive a lot at night and it's nearly impossible to find the haptic controls under the screen so I find myself having to use the touch screen and taking my focus off the road. I hope VW brings back the buttons in some form, maybe there is a happy medium out there. Also, I've found that when driving on a descent road, the suspension is incredibly quiet, but when you hit a bump, you really feel it. Maybe it's just me.

I find it so much more practical when they limit the third row to two seats. It's already crazy tight, and by forcing three seat belts you cut down on space when it seems far more logically to just divvy up that tight space for two occupants (not counting true full size suvs like a Wagoner or Suburban, etc.).

The engine growl in sport mode that Andrea mentioned may be fake and provided by the same "soundaktor" system used in the Golf and a variety of models produced by VAG. There is a RUclips video showing how to reduce - actually eliminate - the fake noise from the soundaktor from 100% to 0% in the Golf using VCDS. I'm hoping that the Porsche dealer can do the same in our Cayenne but I asked only last week after I found out that our Cayenne has the exact same soundaktor and I haven't heard back yet. I don't mind the fake noise so much but it seems silly and my wife absolutely hates the extra noise when I put the Cayenne in sport mode.

I see they have both V4 and V6 options on their US website. V6- 276hp vs V4 235hp with premium fuel. I guess V6 would be the preferred one. Can you please do a demo for the 2024 Atlas V6? I guess the website is not updated yet. Looks like a Porsche type shifter :). Love it.

@@bmw803 The “VR” stands for “V-Reihenmotor” (Reihenmotor being German for “inline engine”) - or simplified to English, “Inline-V engine.” So, technically, the VR6 is a V6 engine, with a narrow 15-degree bank angle (along with a variant with a 10.6-degree bank angle)

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 10 месяцев назад

@arabelhernandez9494 I knew that detail, but that's why it ain't a true V shaped engine. It's basically a cross between inline and V. I think it was Lancia that came up with this originally.

I think VW has done a fab job with this vehicle, that was already great. With soaring gas prices, the engine makes sense with enough power to keep the drive exciting. It's also those little tweaks like the split ac vents (that's a winner, I wonder why other mfg's don't do it), the center console isn't intrusive on the visibility. I do miss seeing the fender audio (did you like the HK in this?), physical knobs & a hybrid option though!

Looks like a good value. I have the slider volume control in my ID4, and I've actually grown to like it. It's become natural to reach out, almost without looking, and slide my finger to adjust the volume. But, the physical buttons on the Atlas steering wheel look like a significant improvement over the old haptic ones like in my car, which can sometimes be hard to find by feel.

@@keska01 I'm fine with tapping the dedicated temperature control slider. A two-finger tap also adjusts the heated seats, which is nice. Everything else with the climate control is accessible on the touch screen by pushing the Clima button. I always leave climate control in auto, so I've never touched any of those settings, and don't feel the need to. The one exception is turning AC on or off. I wish there were a dedicated button. I have to hit Clima and then switch AC on or off.

It's basic, and probably will never break. Same goes with those stupid electric parking brakes. THE FUCK WAS WRONG WITH A HANDLE / CABLE?
