I just received a book that I ordered called ‘Dahlia Breeding’ by Kristine Albrecht. It’s breaks down the subject really well and is an easy read, only 71 pages long.
Fabulous collection of Dahlias! Try making this scrub to soften your hands; two table spoons of brown sugar, one tea spoon of coconut oil, and one tablespoon of honey, scrub your hands gently (don’t forget your wrist) and put on gloves and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it off with water only and apply any cream of your choice with a touch of Vaseline and go to sleep, once a week should help.
For very sore hands use a product called snowfire . This is a stick type product ( like a thick lipstick shape) it’s an amazing product . I wash hands thoroughly at night and put plenty on . Leave overnight to work . If finger tips are sore like chaps , put a lump in cut put plaster over the top , do this for a couple of days . This will heal up . Snowfire can be used on all parts of skin with cuts and grazes , dry and sore . It’s very soothing . I’ve used it for 40 years plus as I do a lot of gardening .
what is the name of the pink white flower towords the end of 4th section. that one is so beautiful. do you have that one forsale please. it is so awesome.
Yay Dahlias! My Kelvin Floodlights had sooo many blooms this year. I have a lot that are dieing off but now they are soaked. I was afraid the seeds will rot before seed harvest. Great tip to pick off the petals... a Duh moment for me. Haha Thank you for all the tips and info!
It's been really rainy here and I was quite worried about rot. Thankfully, everything seems to have done well - just need to make sure everything dries completely. Thanks for watching! 🌱🌱🌱
Thank You, I got a "City Lights" Dahlia, I think its propriatary, going to see if I can get some seeds and tubers from it. The leave are Black with Red flowers, gorgouse flower. Peace
Very cool, thank you! I learned from my dermatologist that when palms are dry, it's mostly calling for a salve vs. a lotion. Lotion is good for moisturizing, but salves help heal the insides of hands when their protective layer has been washed off. Salves also keep moisture in, hope that helps! I get the same thing in the winter, sadly. So for the seeds, do you just plant them in trays in the spring?
Lovely video. I planted from seed this year and I am curious if I should dig any tubers that developed this fall or if they will be fine in the ground over winter. I'm in Florida zone 8A.
I agree with the others, they would probably be fine. Even here in my urban zone 6, I can ALMOST get away with leaving them in the ground. The only worry I would have is if the planting bed stays too wet during winter - then rot might be a problem. Good luck! :)
@@TONYAwiththeflowers we tend to have very rainy winters 🤔 might be for the best to go ahead and dig them up. I am curious how many there are so it will.be like a treasure hunt🤣
Please tell me the name of the Dahlia at 23 seconds. Cream with purple. Oh girl! I don't even want to think about how much I've spent on Dahlia plants!
That one is called 'Good Golly Miss Molly'. I can't remember where I bought it, but there's definitely more footage of it in my full dahlia tour video 🌱🌱🌱
you can find cotton gloves online or in beauty stores. lanolin would be my suggestion. something thick and waxy, I am using caster oil for now, just not sure if it is that hydrating. honey is amazing at restoring moister. any way clean and dry hands well then apply lanolin gloves and sleep. blessings be...
Tonya just heard you saying about your hands, please to pass this recipe on to you two percent salycilic acid in an aqueous cream base, stunning healer i used to be covered in excema since being introduced to above recipe 6years agototaly absent chemist will make up cream. Good luck best wishes wishes noel new zealand
Jojoba oil (hohoba oil) avocado oil are two oils that soak into the skin well. See brambleberry.com for oils and recipes. I make my own soap and have researched a lot. Make sure you buy steam distilled oil rather than solvent extracted oils. Thank you for your video. It will be interesting to see what you get.
Thanks for the tips! I've been making my own soap about ten years now, but have always just used one "recipe". I definitely need to explore more options for more moisture! Thank you!!
I thought it sounded like that, too! Lol! I thought maybe I was going crazy when I was editing it! I don't think I'll be using the external camera mic anymore. Maybe I was just standing in the wrong place? It sure did a good job picking up the loud airplanes! 😂😂😂
I love the single, open center varieties. They hold up better and bloom like mad in my zone 9b garden. Plus the bees adore them!
I'm really hoping to grow some really pretty ones from seed. I'm so excited! Thanks for watching! :)
I love that the bees love them!
Thanks for this - this will be the first year I try to save dahlia seeds, so I'm reading and watching everything I can!
Thank you so much, Dahlia flowers are one of my absolute favorite🥰
Absolutely stunning!! 🤩

This looks fun to try. Thank you for going over all this!

Thanks for the informative video. I got some dahlia seeds saved and can't wait to plant them next spring! 🌸
I love dahlias and yours look beautiful. You have a great channel. Keep up the good work.

That is interesting I had no idea their seeds easily crossed like that! That is so fascinating!
Thanks it was great
U are so original. I like to watch ur videos
I did not know that u could grow dahlias from seeds other than tubers.
Coconut oil and sugar mixed to a thick consistency works great for a lotion that scrubs the hands without destroying the skin.
Very useful video, thankyou
I’m impatiently waiting to start my dahlia seeds. 😜
Me too! I'm so excited for spring! 🌱🌱🌱

Pure Aloe, it really works to restore skin💜🤩😍😘
Salem, Hi, Thank u for this video .
I planted dahlia seeds late, do I have flowers or not?

Share a video of what these new dahlia lovelies look like this year!
I have aloe soap to save my hands! Thanks for the vid. I want to try. How long must they dry before planting??

Definitely, even 7 is almost always fine. 6 is iffy

My Dahlias are still blooming so nicely, not ready to get seeds, hopefully soon Ty
What ended up happening with the sunflower looking seeds the following year?
They were sunflowers! It appears that the finches had been hiding them inside the old dahlia blooms. It was soooo weird, lol! 🌱🌱🌱

@@TONYAwiththeflowers Oh good. It's already on my wish list. I need a 12 step Dahlia program LOL
Will these seeds bloom the first year itself?
Absolutely! I should also be able to save the first year tubers produced :)
I wonder how dahlia seeds would do with the winter sowing method in zone 7🤔 Great video! 🥰
I started my dahlias seeds using the winter sowing method this year. It worked well. Thanks for watching! :)
I planted dahlia seeds and got beautiful plants but I have a problem as flower heads are floppy ! Do you know why?
They look funny in a vase

I need help keeping cats out of our yard. They used my Dahlia box as a litter box last year. Grrrr.
Use snowfire for sore cut fingers , feet and knees etc .
Girl, goat milk lotion!!
I make some and so does TLC farm. :)
Are you talking with your mask on?

Haha yes came here to ask this 🤣 it did get better with time. More importantly, thank you, this was extremely helpful! 🙌
