Not only was Walter Slezak a wonderful character actor, but a gifted singer as well. Many people forget that or don't realize it. Nice that he got to sing in this film.
dmnemaine remember he was the father of Erika Slezak who played Vickie Lord on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live????????....I hope you will reply to this
Saw this movie in my youth in the Far East and fell in love with Anna Maria Alberghetti. Decades hence, she appeared in one of our charity events in California, and I regretted missing the chance to see her in person. Her old songs still bring back my youth days all the time.
Walter Slezak was a good actor; notice how he focused his character on the mood of "his" song, not the interaction with his "daughter's" engagement w/ Dino's character. Wow, & of course the voices, soooo lovely.
This song, "Only trust your heart" was a major highlight from the 1957 film "Ten thousand bedrooms". The film wasn't a big box-office success, but it did break even. It was shot in Rome, so production expenses kept escalating. It starred Dean Martin, Eva Bartok, Anna Maria Alberghetti, Walter Slezak, Lisa Gaye and Lisa Montell. There were quite a few numbers in the film that were hits that include Ten Thousand Bedrooms, You I love and No one but you [sung by Lisa Gaye and Lisa Montell]. Oh yes, there's a funny version of Rock around the clock sung and danced by Gaye and Montell. While Alberghetti was merely window-dressing, it was Eva Bartok, that seasoned European performer, who wins Martin's heart in the finale.
I hope y'all will reply to this a little bit of trivia: Walter Slezak was the father of Erika Slezak who played Victoria Lord on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live
One of the greatest scenes in cinema history . Can you post the cute scene where Anna Maria"s papa smacks her cute bottom , i think in front of Dean . How humiliating . Hehe .
Mein Herz lacht vor Glück.. So bezaubernd ☺️❤️ Mein geliebter Dean Martin und Walter Slezak... Was kann man sich mehr wünschen...

I own the Hitchcock movie Lifeboat with Slezak as the German U-Boat captain. He does plenty of singing in it.
He sings and does a bit of movement too in Wonderful Life, a Cliff Richard film from about 1964. Great actor.

What a trio. Their voices are almost as beautiful as Anna Maria.
To me, that was wonderful.

His father Leo, was one of the Great Operatic Tenors of the past.
This is a charming moment in an otherwise bomb of a movie.I loved Anna Maria in “The Stars Are Singing” with Rosemary Clooney.
Saw this movie... SILLY.... but SHE is an excellent singer in OPERA... fabulous voice.
