  • There are many beneficial insects that visit our gardens, but one of the most beautiful are the butterflies. As well as bringing colour and movement to our planted borders, they also play an important role as pollinators, fluttering between the plants to spread pollen and complete the reproductive cycle.
Watch this video for some great plant varieties that will attract butterflies into your garden.

Beautiful flowers! I love cornflowers. A couple of years ago I bought about 10 different plants that attracts butterflies and bees. This Fall I'll plant my wildflowers.

Verbena is as good as buddleia and flowers longer. In the spring if you snip off the shoots to near the base above a node then it will fan out more with more flowers. Michaelmas daisies are also brilliant. Dont forget the flowers of Privet too.

I was hoping you'd mention growing plants to lay their eggs on or for the caterpillars to eat. Buddleia no good for this, unless your a Mullien Moth. Id like to know what to plant to support all these butterflies entire lifecycles, as the caterpillars usually only eat one specific native plant. Am i right ?
