I like that you can hear the difference between the "absolutely urgent need to act right now or you die" warnings, warnings that need action but can hold off if something more pressing is happening, and then finally the warnings that are just kind of there for convenience.
That's really interesting from a psychology/sociology point of view. Communicating urgency with tone and emphasis is much more intuitive and quick to understand than using separate commands for each level of urgency.
I’ve literally pissed myself to this tone once, thought I could hold it for 2 more minutes until I land and this guy on a server chased my ass back to my landing strip and whacked me AS I LANDED 😭
@@jamietate3526 Not quite as likely since they were moving forward and not straight down like what happened with Maverick and Goose. In this case the airstream and forward movement of the plane would send the canopy back behind the aircraft instead of directly above them in the path of the ejection seats.
I've never played DCS, but the missile launch warning gives me more anxiety than GTA 5's. Radar lock is already nerve-racking in both games, but missile launch is when you have something coming to kill you.
The first time after a while I went and played some GTA online. I have been playing higher tiers of WT for a while, so I knew what to do when I heard my RWR go off. I was in a police heli. The F/A-18 Hornet is a US- built fighter-bomber . Built by McDonnell Douglas following a request from the US Navy , it is one of the most versatile aircraft currently in service: in fact it was specifically designed to cover the role of fighter, ground attack, close air support, tactical bomber , reconnaissance and advanced air control. Thanks to the ability to cover all these roles it is an excellent embarked aircraft ; its big (original) flaw, however, is the limited range, corrected in the new F/A-18E version . The project is now followed byBoeing after acquiring McDonnell Douglas in 1997 .
I had to come and look this warning system up, I searched for the types in the years of the 80's, I had something extremely strange happen to me as a kid one night, I had the most realistic dream but it was as if I was there looking through this man's eyes, and I heard these fire and warning sounds and this man looking at his controls and speaking /screaming I'm on fire! I'm burning up ! I'm burning up in here! And these sounds are EXACTLY what I heard! And there was a flashing green light in the cockpit and it was cramped in there and the metal came up to his shoulder areas on the sides but it was like setting in a box, God it was so realistic smh and I truly believe somehow I was there watching this man in his moment of tragedy, how I don't know and why I don't know, I have never been in or around a fighter plane as a kid or till my later yrs as a adult and everything I see and heard that night is exactly as it is in reality as I researched and see the videos of them on RUclips researching them.. this was in 1983/4 when I had this weird happening. And it was at night late after 1 am and the setting of this dream? Took place also at that time as he was flying in the night because it was all dark outside around the windows. And I could feel the heat in the cockpit it was so hot like a oven but worse at 39 sec in on the video that's all I could hear that warning sound while this man was screaming. It's haunted me for over 38 yrs
Her actual name is Leslie Shook. And she was chosen to voice Betty when the program manager heard her give someone directions as she filled in as an audio engineer when recording voice lines for the voice warning system
There’s something so cool and romantic about having a voice recording of a real, southern woman as these lifesaving tactical alarms. They could have had a man, or they could have went with a computer generated recording. But no, you have a southern woman shouting at you what to do. Such elegance and charm. Such old school mixed with high tech military fearing. It’s just cool.
But why did they have to make the RWR tones sound like a dentist office phone? Can't imagine how combat pilots feel sitting in a waiting room before getting your teeth worked on and hear that.
@G E T R E K T usually pilots will set it to a specific value that does indicate "leave now or you're not getting home". There's also a 2nd caution that only gives the deedle deedle that's "Home Fuel" which is about 1000lbs over your Bingo. While Bingo is whatever the pilot says it is it's universally set at a final RTB value.
