The power of just a man and his guitar
🦅👌🌞
hillbilly crapola
And a soul.
Reminds me of Tracy Chapman performing "stand by me" on letternan
And of course his fabulous voice.....chee hoo
Whoever is uploading these so fast deserves a raise
real i stayed up all night for this
I hope SNL realizes this was a "moment" .....one of the greatest ❤️ Chris is sublime , thank you for knowing enough to clip this ....best country song on SNL ever.... congratulations Chris, the "best"
They deserve a big smooch ❤
AND they kept the update segments together!
Also there used to be geographic restrictions on new episodes. Until last year it still required vpn to access new content from Taiwan.
I LOVE not hearing autotune all over the fucking place in a song. Love his vocals so much.
No kidding!!!
2014 called. They want that done-to-death statement back.
@@Theroadtoawe 2024 calling wanting you to ask me if I give a single flying fuck (I do not)
He just SINGS...it is so effortless, but so powerful...the emotion in his voice...this cannot be taught, you have to be born with this type of talent.
I lived in Nashville before Mr. Stapleton because famous and had heard about the bluegrass band, the Steeldrivers, just through a chat group. I had an interest in bluegrass and nothing better to do one Saturday so I arrived early and ended up in a seat by the stage at the Station Inn. I saw this really unassuming guy setting up, only later realizing he was in the band. Honestly, he didn't seem like much.(This was way before the crazy hat, which honestly I've never quite gotten used to.) But anyway, the next thing I remember was the moment Chris opened his mouth and that powerful, divine note that not just filled the room but had me in a religious state of rapture within literal seconds. It is a moment that I'll always be grateful for. A moment of awe witnessing a talent so big and so pure and so undeniable that you just knew, as sure as the sun sets in the west, that you were experiencing greatness.
Not only do we hear Chris Stapleton sing, we can feel him ♥️
When a simple song brings you to tears, you know you've met real talent.
I’m sitting here wondering why tears are falling, I close my eyes and I’m sitting on a bench by a creek I hear water birds singing this song playing I look over and see my younger self, she smiles. Tears falling.
Beautifully written & sung, Chris
How did they record the sound quality so pure for internet. Great job to those behind the set. Damn
Snl has improved the sound team. I remember thinking that during rennee rapp's snow angel performance
Great song, makes me remember my Dad, big fan of country music. RIP Dad. 🇳🇬
Didn’t expect him to do this one but I’m glad he did! Always cuts so deep
I was sleeping Saturday night with my TV on. Chris Stapleton began singing this song and It woke me up. I was trying to find out where that beautiful voice and music was coming from. My God man this is sooooo beautiful! I mean this song literally made me sit up out of a deep sleep and give all my attention to this beautiful melody😍😍😍
I had the exact same experience! I woke up and he was singing, and I rewound it several times and finally recorded it. It was such an emotional performance! Pleasantly surprised!
Dude is ALL Talent!
The music, the lyrics, the voice, he's the whole package 🙌
Pure music, no glossing over anything, just talent.
I had not heard him before! This is what I call a voice! It has depth and texture, unlike most "singers" these days.
Your in for a treat. Listen to his other albums. Amazing artist
I totally love his song, Tennessee Whiskey. I think that was the first time I had ever heard of him, is when he came out with TW. It's an awesome song!
Once you go down the Chris Stapleton rabbit hole you’ll never look at other artist the same, he just opens your ears to a level of quality that many artist just don’t possess
He’s more of a Black Hole because he takes you into another deep dimensional state and you never look back with a huge smile upon your face.

Chris Stapleton is simple phenomenal fantastic performer beautiful song❤.
The definition of a captivating performance. Chris Stapleton is truly in a league of his own.
I love you Chris Stapleton
A song that looks into the deepest parts of your soul and gives it a hug.
Love his voice
I have tears in my eyes. Beautiful.
Damn, it is nice to know that someone famous out there knows how to do a four finger picking pattern.
Absolutely beautiful..this man delivers everytime. His voice and his deep lyrics. Thank you 😢
Hey, SNL, you're setting the bar much too high. Just an artist, a guitar, a story and a world of feeling coming together in a wonderful moment.
Agreed.... whole show was a bad set high especially this song.
Jason Isbell next, please. And another round of Sturgill.
Chris Stapleton is so cool! His gift of storytelling and musicality is HIS and his alone. Love his sound! 🩷
In your honest opinion, what is the story he's telling from his song?
Beautiful
Wow, this is moving and beautiful.
There's is Country and there's #ChrisStapleton
Some clown on another post I read said Chris isn't country because he listened to rap growing up😂
@@timotheewilliams9086 One of the best country groups is Gangstagrass, which is country combined with hip-hop.

I'm going to check them out👍
Stapleton has huge hands, like when I saw Chuck Berry, holding the guitar like a Uke. Nice song.
its a small, parlor-like guitar.
This key and performance are better than the one on the album. The simplicity and clarity of the sound are incredible.
How does people not know this guy with raw talent? Glad he has been reintroduced.
Gorgeous song, both melodically and lyrically. Loved the guitar picking. Plus, Chris did a beautifully poignant and evocative performance of it. I’m a new fan.♥️
Thank you. This was beautiful and heartfelt.
I'm old enough to remember another man and just his guitar... John Denver. Thank You for being you, Mr. Stapleton.
Jim Croce was a master storyteller & musician, singer as well . Hats off to Chris he's in the same league 👏
That man possesses a window into my soul. With each line he amazed me and this is now my new favorite
Beautiful!❤
No faking that. No lip syncing, a true musician, a singer of songs, zero attitude. Thank you good Sir!
Love, love his music!
Can’t wait to see him in concert this summer 🎉
Amazing. How he can take something as simple as that and make it so expressive.
He gets me everytime. Legend artist.
What country music should be. Not pop songs sang in a southern accent
@robertmoffit1135 I don't even consider him country. I've been listening to him for years. He's his own damn thing
...said nobody 20 years from now

Deep man... a voice so pure. Makes me feel like I'm lost in the mountains too. I'll never make it up there either, but it's the journey.
I wish my favorite radio station played some of Chris’s music. 😊
When you don’t need props, hoops and hoopla to embellish a song….❤❤❤❤❤
Perfect song. Reached my soul…
His voice is like the smoothest whiskey. A voice so good that we should all feel privileged to hear it.
This dude, man... just incredible. Truly amazing.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
Made me tear up. That cut deep.
For those who may not have really listened to country music, here’s a damn good entry point! And thanks for bringing me back Chris! Your message is strong and poignant…
Simply beautiful...😭🙏✨
Beautiful ♥️
Beautiful ✨
Fantastic song and performance ❤👌🦅
One of the greatest performances I think I’ve ever heard
Clearly you didn't hear Raye from last week...
It seems so much more authentic than most of what has passed for "country music" over the past two decades or so.
Absolutely !
Absolute perfection here.
Thank you soooo much for this Chris.
Just beautiful.
This is a beautiful song., First time I heard it. The melancholy of it reaches right deep into me.
You're the best, Chris!! 🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸🎗️🇺🇸🎸
Mesmerizing
He is awesome
Beautiful song.
Amazing as always... poet i fecking lub u my friend
Great song and heartfelt performance
Stapleton!! We love you ❤️!!!
thank you for sharing yourself with us and keeping people employed
Truly amazing lyric and presentation ❤
Touch the soul, music
Wow!
He is a gift and FINALLY getting exposed to so many that have never heard him despite his magnificent talent, Grammy Award winning songs, CMAs, and critical acclaim. Don’t forget to listen to his work with the Steeldrivers pre solo Traveller album and the NPR Tiny desk performance.
The master. The end. ❤
I've been trying all this time, but still can't climb the mountains of my mind ❤❤❤
Very unoriginal lyrics
Chris was on Letterman singing Traveler. Powerful tune. Been a fan ever since.
What a sound 😁👌🎶🎤🎸
Another great performance!
Chris is SO SPECIAL I can’t even put it into words. He’s simply MESMERIZING!
Amen 🎉
Chills.
Dude rocks
Yes I agree
The one and only!! 👍💜💜💜
Damn fine.
*_Thank you for this song. It's the first time I heard this with all of you. How special is that?_*
Thank you. I have never heard this song. I am swelling up with emotion. ❤.L'chaim. Blessings to you.
So cool ❤️
I wasn’t familiar with his music before I saw his performance on SNL. This solo guitar song really reminded me of my opening farewell by Jackson Browne. In a good way.
Just a man and his guitar. Speaking to a nation .
I miss Tennessee ❤
Thanks for having my bud Chris on here!
BFF 💓
Fantastic tune. The part that jumped out to me is the way the short riff he plays at the beginning is strong on the 1 beat, and then the second riff emphasizes the off beat enough that it feels unexpected when the first part comes back. It mirrors him singing about feeling unsettled and off balance.
IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY Ryan cracks from the very start. You can hear him breathe hard and after the intro he hides his smile. Dude is so childish🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also: Powerful song and the live mixing on this one is top-notch.
LOL
Literally me fr
This song's guitar lick is taken from David Baerwald "Stranger" a couple of octaves below tho. If you're reading this, do yourself a solid and go listen to David's song - it's amazing.
This version is much better than the original.
Nice one.
His solo was his magnum opus.
Well played.
A+
The story of the ‘human condition’ in song. 🎶
this guy is unreal
Feelings...
Beautiful.
