For this second part of our playthrough of the Great Crystal we collect the rest of the treasures and visit the locations of the bosses Ultima & Omega. In particular, we get Hastega - one of the most coveted abilities in the game.
I have remade this guide because my past video, while helpful to many, frustrated some who had not already defeated Ultima (as I had). This meant certain gates were already open for me that were closed to the viewer. For this new guide, I will be entering the Great Crystal from a blank state and so you should be able to follow along regardless of your previous progress.
This is still a frustrating dungeon, but hopefully this should be a useful series to get you through.

The person who is responsible for the design of this zone is my lifelong Nemesis. I will have nightmares for a very long time so thank you for that.
Anyway, I edit out most of the pain so my viewers are left with a (relatively) easy to follow step-by-step guide to collecting the remaining treasures of the Great Crystal. As always for this place, there is no map, so follow my instructions carefully.
Once you are at the blue save crystal you are able to farm for Gendarme (the games's ultimate shield). Check out my previous video for help on how to do that:

Final Fantasy 12 was first released way back in 2006 on the PS2. At the time, it was considered somewhat controversial by many Final Fantasy fans due to its departure from traditional FF gameplay. However, it is now looked back on fondly and many would consider Final Fantasy XII to be the best entry in the franchise. In 2007 the International Zodiac edition was released (in Japan only), and this version of the game included a more traditional job-based system and a new battle areana. For this remastered release, these additional changes are being brought to us fans in the West for the first time ever - along with high resolution textures and remastered soundtrack!

Hi I've tried to get the gendara shield like 50 times punched myself 10 times and got the meteorite but then when I go back in I don't get a chest and make a video on how to exit this freaking map and I have the diamond brace
I turned the wrong way and ended up triggering Ultima. Thank God we were all Level 70+ but man it was still hard

Hi Fuzzfinger. i'm a 73 year old granny and I love this game. I know, I got a late start but am stumped on the chops. I only can find 27 and I've looked and looked
You only need 3 chops to progress...
Go to the chop master and you can buy 1
@@Jimmymatthewb to fill out the archades map you need 28 to get a sandlewood chop which grants access to upper archades

Amazing, this helped me a lot, never thought I would pause a video so much times in my life lol anyways, I got Hastega and Artemis Bow so I'm out of this place to probably never come back (don't really care about Excalibur)
Squenix really wanted you to get a pen and paper and map this shit out. I applaud the intricate design, and the sheer amount of trial and error the people who made this video and other maps had to go through.
That said, imagine if this was fun enough to actually warrant doing by yourself? Is it better that it is not fun and difficult because you get lost so easily? Or would it be better if it was easier?
I don't think The Great Crystal would have left much of an impact if it wasn't so... ridiculous.
JJSSEEJ Believe it or not in Vanilla ff12 i did it all in my head, no map no guide. Now a few years later i both mapped the place on paper and used this video guide after to make sure i didn’t miss anything.
It’s a crazy asf place but like you said without all that craziness it would lose a lot of its identity. Very nice place to hide the most powerful gear and weapons, and spells, and the most beautiful aeon and on top of it a farken op boss. They really did a number on this one!

Your video guides are timeless. Got all the loot I wanted and somehow barely killed Ultima. Was in there so long I killed three Larva eaters and six Evil spirits. At the exit it felt like I had a litter of kittens. Without this video, I'd still be in there.

Fuzz, I just started playing FFXII Zodiac Age for the first time. I know, late to the party but better late than never. 😅
I got lost for 20 mins+ in The Great Crystal but then saw your video guide. Thank God! I absolutely hate that death trap of a maze but following your video(s) step by step, frame by frame, I was able to get through it!
Fun fact: I got confused at the blue save crystal & wound up getting surprised by Ultima- unprepared! 😂 Talk about a shock! 😱 I was able to finally adjust & kill Ultima by the skin of my teeth, thanks to my Red Mage with her Yagu Darkblade + Black Robe (50% boost to Dark Magic/Attacks) + White Hat (immune to Holy). She solo’d the last 20% of Ultima by herself. Ultima’s HP melted. Thank God for my Red Mage! 😂
Anyway, thank you so much for the great guides and walkthroughs. People still love this game and some are playing for the first time like myself (on my Nintendo Switch OLED). Keep up the good work and thanks again! 🙏

In my youth Yazamat was less time consuming than the crystal. Managed to get the zodiac shield though without internet tips

I thought it would be lost forever .. Great video .. It didn't cost anything from square enix to overlay the map on the remaster, this map irritates anyone.
I hadn't touched this game since middle school and you just saved my ass so hard. Ugh. I had completely wiped this whole horrid dungeon from my memory and as soon as I came down here and saw the giant golden crystal and the green void I was just like "Oh...right..." And then sighed and googled a walkthrough.
Thankfully yours was incredibly concise. I do not look forward to reverse engineering the path straight to Omega once I come back after beating all the hunts...but that's a future me problem I guess.

Thanks for your vid. Without any guidance I'd be very lost. Pity the save crystal isn't an orange crystal. I could do with more Phoenix downs. I've completely run out forgetting I had a gambit set-up.

From where you save at blue crystal if you save you Vs the esper if you decide to go north. Use dark magic she is so easy and use esper 13 super effective against her
