Seeing an adult spend time with this young girl brings to mind the special friendship General Picket has with a little girl, who died and broke the general’s heart. These two in period dress brings it to life.
Anytime I see a young one picking up an instrument it makes my heart smile! Especially someone this little with so much talent. I hope she sticks with this for it will be a life of enjoyment that those who don't play will never understand. Bravo for both musicians and thanks for sharing with this ol' Rebel!!
I I swear, I just closed my eyes and saw Civil war soldiers in full uniform outside their tents around a fire. That's how good this was. My jaw hit the floor. Quite a talented little one you've got there. She's adorable too.
WOW! Thank you!! This is such a great compliment. I love this song writers abilities too! We love this song by Jed Marum. Sorry for just replying 3 years later; we have been living overseas but back now in good ole USA!!!! So, hope you will stop by our channel again. We hope to get this little fiddle player who is now 16 posted more!
@@PearlgraceandCoMusic Wow. If she's as talented now as she was then, we're the same age and she's infinitely more talented than I am. I don't play any music. Greetings from the Great State of Alabama.
I an SO GLAD to hear / see an old time fiddle player who has an "ear," and enough discretion to play "back-up" during the singing - not just "sawing away" without a care - like they sincerely believe the fiddle should always play constantly and be heard above all the rest so it will reign supreme for all time ... Like most Old Time Fiddlers do ... Thank God !
Oh wow! Quite a compliment...she is so young here... turning into a fine 16 year old musician these days! Hope you will check some of our other videos! thanks for stopping by Ragtime Annie!
Not my sort of music either but you can't help but like it.80 degrees F here in North Carolina today and I'm unemployed but the cute little girl and her playing just makes me smile.
Jed, I love what you did to dress up your Goodtime banjo. Wonderful! You two sound great playing together. Thanks for sharing your great music. It looks like lots of fun. Keep on picking!
not sure how I'd describe my right hand work ... using my nails, playing single notes with an index finger on the down stroke (like clawhammer), doing a whole lotta brushing (like clawhammer) and picking the 5th string now and then with my thumb (like 3 finger). Banjo's tuned to A . We were playing it in G, so I caped 5 and played cross key (using C forms) to get G.
@dshaneg Thank you so much! We love music and history...She (and several of us are being classically trained as violinists but we love to fiddle, be out doors and 'step back in time' when we can!!!) Thanks for commenting!
Not sure--this is the 'fiddler's' channel...the banjo player has his own channel..he'd be happy to answer your questions though! Search: Jed Marum on here...He is a great banjo player...

@Goldswan SUPER for it cheering you up! When we posted it, one of the kids said, "if I watched that, it would brighten my day!!" Give it a thumbs up and pass it along! Hope your miserable day in England only gets better..(I'm jealous that you're in England! Sounds better than a miserable day in Oklahoma...but we're actually having a beautiful, sunny 70 degree day! Bless you!

That seems like kind of a grim response to a light-hearted comment ... !

From google...
- Come Back Katy
...Jed Marum
(with Samantha)
Come back Katy, Kevin Benjamin and Brady
And the boys from Alabama
Know you're lookin for a Mister
Better run and tell your sister
But don't you tell your Mama
You know they look so fine
When they're marchin's in a line
And they dance even finer
Then the boys from Carolina
Come back Katy get your best dress on
The 'bama boys in town
Come back Katy, Kevin Benjamin and Brady
Setting out on my veranda
Play the Shamrock and the Thistle
And they play on the whistle
To the fiddle and the banjer
Gonna make some noise
With the Alabama boys
Gonna dance 'til the morrow
Like we never had a sorrow
Come back Katy, get your best dress on
The 'bama boys in town
Come back Katy, Kevin Benjamin and Brady
And the Alabama Wild Geese
They were born in Connemara
But they're leavin' town
tomorra
And they're gonna fight the Yankees
Gonna dance and sing
Make the whole town ring
Make a racket and a rattle
'fore we send 'em off to battle
Come back Katy get your best dress on
The 'bama boys in town
Come back Katy get your best dress on
The 'bama boys in town
sadly im with you a year later lol
Blessings on ya! Thanks for stopping by...we sure miss Jed!
@StoredMars ya don't beat the West Virginians
Carolina boys are in fact finer then 'Bama's. I should know, 'cause I'm one of 'em Carolina boys.
Maine boys beat both.
