Ottawa is truly "the City that fun forgot". It has no soul, no excitement, and the people are generally unfriendly. It's a beautiful city to some degree, but it's so lifeless with very little going for it.
That is the biggest lie I’ve ever heard. It’s not lifeless whatsoever you clearly have no spent a day or night in downtown. But keep telling yourself whatever makes you sleep at night.
@@lizzy5121 I'm giving my opinion and my experience having lived in Ottawa compared to other cities. Just coz you have a great one doesn't mean everyone will. As someone who's traveled extensively, Ottawa just doesn't offer the Cosmopolitan experience you'd get in other major cities. If for you going out at night is the best you've ever experienced, then you don't know what you're missing. Byward market is the only "happening" place in Ottawa and it's not even on the top 20 spots of happening in the world. Ottawa lacks great cuisine choices, the art and entertainment scene is mediocre same as the nightlife. They're trying to revitalize the night scene, but it's just not happening. And to top it off, what makes a city great is the people...and Ottawa citizens are some of the least friendliest in all my travels. Very unfriendly, cold people.
@@Aquagirl-in6wr I have lived there 51 years, and finally left for Poland, at least 10 years too late unfortunately. The cold unfriendly part is very true of Ottawa, even above other parts of Canada, which I do not consider a very friendly country overall. It also has turned immensely worse in the past 10-20 years.

Everyone always says this by byward market is no different then walking anywhere in downtown Toronto or Montreal. It’s not that bad at all. Only at 1am when the clubs empty with drunk people. If you can’t handle seeing a homeless person than I would say don’t go to any downtown.
@@lizzy5121 Lol No Byward & Rideau are arguably the worst area in the entire province. Suicides, overdoses, junkies attacking innocents & people defecating in public. I get scared for people that bring their family around that place.
A lifeless, uninspiring street whose claim to fame is that cars are not allowed. 40 years and nobody has been able to revitalize Sparks Street. Ottawa has potential but its natural assets are all mired in politically correct gridlock, Toronto envy, and small-minded thinking. Brutalist architecture has decimated its downtown core. Every proposal for something daring gets shot down. The public transit is in shambles. Please tell me what the solution is.
There is a plan to redevelop it. Maybe do your research before you start spewing nonsense. There adding, trees, vendors, seating, parks. I’d look it up.
