Hi Kelly, I use the pens and markers like watercolours. If you scribble onto the shiny backing sheet of transfer paper or vinyl and the add a drop of water to this, you can paint with the ink and so get wonderful blending and different effects. I can get the Cricut to draw a design with the pen and then essentially paint the picture in this way with the infusible inks.
I think Amazon sells different brand on infusible ink marker pens - wonder if it's not dry as Cricut's own pens? Thanks for comparing - marker ones seem to look much better indeed.
Definitely more keen to get the markers than the pens. The dryness of the pens really put me off because that is one of the most frustrating things. I'm glad they've got an alternative now!
I put mine in the dishwasher regularly and dont have a problem with fading! Maybe over the very long term (several years), but I dont have a way of knowing that yet :)
