    You have just blown my mind less than a minute into the video. I didn't realise there were templates to make sure it was the correct size! I have been measuring 😆 Ah, thankfully I am still new to this so I haven't been doing it long.

    I usually set my mug on a level surface upright. Then I hold my infusible sheet around but not fully touching yet. I bring the two sides around the mug to the handle and then, once I've got it centered where I want it I lay one side down. Then working from that side I press it all down until I reach the other side making sure it is straight to bottom and top. Easiest way to do it. I then heat tape top and bottom wherever I see minor gaps. That keeps it from doing blow outs which cause a ghosting effect. If either of the sides aren't sticking well I heat tape those too. Placing heat tape just to show where the actual design ends on each side helps to center it within the mug press too. You'll get ghosting on one side if it's not correctly centered when you clamp down your press.

    Thanks for the video. It has been quite a long time since I decorated a mug! I need to get my supplies out and make a mug :)
    I was having flashbacks to all the mistakes I have made... and I am pretty sure I have made them all and some I have made multiple times. I can't tell you how many times I put the design on upside down. And of course I will occasionally forget to mirror.
    I have never done the water technique. I guess I let it cool with the infusible ink on. I don't remember how I did it. But I'll keep that in mind next time.

      Welcome to this awesome new craft! Good question! It depends on what your main focus will be! You dont need a Cricut to work with the mug press, as you can use sublimation prints, or infusible ink (sublimation) pens to make mugs with. But you also can use other methods to make mugs - like using your oven and shrink wrap. Loads of new opportunities to explore!

    Hi, I noticed you've promoted a mug press and I was wondering if you could share your long-term experience with it. Have you used it intensively for your sublimations? After a year of use, have you encountered any technical issues, particularly regarding temperature maintenance? I've read several reviews on Amazon where users report problems after around 20 sublimations, so I'm curious if you've noticed anything similar. Thanks a lot for your help!"

      Hi! I dont use a mug press for a business, but rather occasional uses so Ive not had an issue with mine at all, but I have made many many mugs with it without a single issue. but it is important to remember that occasionally there will be a bad one in the batch, but the Cricut mug press is still my favourite!

    How do I cut a perfectly sized window in an infusible ink transfer sheet to exactly fit the sublimation printed photo?

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  Год назад

      I would definitely make the one overlap, as you may not get EXACT measurements unless you use digital calipers to measure with 100% accuracy, Its often easier to use the white border as an offset to avoid tiny white gaps because its not perfectly the right size

  • @galderiso7656

    If your words are same color as wrap do you need to slice or just cut after you offset

    How do I combine the offset and text so it’s only one layer

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  2 месяца назад

      This depends on what you want your design to look like. You may need to slice them!

  • @LadyWhiteOwl
    @LadyWhiteOwl 10 месяцев назад

    when I slice the second one and send to back, the slice result of the offset, the green layer, though selected does not move, I have to move it to back on it's own when then changes the colors and everything..?? I think I figured it out by moving the layer from the layer panel.

  • @cherimccain12
    @cherimccain12 Год назад

    In addition you can let your infusible ink markers draw extras on the infusible ink sheets to highlight the secondary color. Just have to make sure it's a contrasting color a single layer writing font or design. Wish youtube allowed photos so I could show you that.

    • @KellyRossouw

      I would suggest welding the image and the word together :) If they are cut out of different colours you can select the word and image, offset them and keep them separate!

    The best way to handle the infusible ink, so oils from your hands don't get onto it, is to wear disposable gloves. That's my tip for everyone 😊

    Does Cricut make professional looking mugs? Is it suitable for a small business? Or is it more for hobbies?

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  Год назад +1

      Cricut do have plain white mugs like this, and a few other bevelled sizes. Im not sure what you are looking for specifically, but most prefer to use generic brands as they are a lot cheaper.

    • @KellyRossouw

      Did you duplicate the text layer too? Only the outline should be duplicated, otherwise it will cut right through.

  • @cherimccain12

    I do not recommend putting mugs in water. Infusible ink is not still sublimating without the paper btw. Infusible ink is only doing that with the paper still on. Just leave the paper on until the mug is fully cool. It will not ghost if you used your heat tape correctly. And never reuse copy paper because any residual Infusible Ink can transfer to your next project.
