Today we're looking at a headset that has made waves and is attached at the hip to the brand new PS5. This headset is the Sony Pulse 3D Headset. It's designed for use with the Playstation 5, some might even say it's designed LIKE the Playstation 5, coinciding with the launch of the console, this is a handful of headsets that are purposefully designed to take advantage of Playstation 5's built in Tempest 3D Audio Engine. But does it play the part? Watch the video to find out.

I personally love this headset, I’m a super casual gamer and this suits me down to the ground! I think this is a really fair review!
The fact that I'm not a casual gamer and constantly want to platinum every mainline Resident Evil including zero as well as constantly playing cod as a break from RE, this is still a fantastic headset. Would recommend for its simplicity, good looks, and it's audio quality is NOT the best, but REALLY hard to beat when it comes to the price.
@@chairboi2936 thx you just sold me on buying them. They restocked on amazon, and was debating on getting them (quick as possible because they may sell out). I'm not the most competitive gamer and mostly play single player games and alone on multiplayer so mic quality and audio does not have to be perfect. But i loved the design and simplicity of the headset, and me being a ocd freak kinda i love that it matches with the ps5 and controller. Thx

I have these, I would say for the price point they are good. Sure there are better headsets, but for the price I have no complaints. I’m also surprised no one really talks about how incredibly light these are, I find them more comfortable than my astros or my G933s for that piece alone.

I'm pretty happy with mine. I find it very comfortable with really good sound. They're a solid buy at $100.
I’ve been using these since launch on my PS5 & man they sound amazing, I know the mic can be better but the sound to me is awesome. I use them on MM & Cold War & I can hear everything surrounding me

@@WayneClark tbf, this is the common consensus among alot of the people here reviewing this headset. They aren't saying that these headsets are bad, not in any way, some of the things he said used comparisons to other headsets that have similar features and price points. That is because some of these like sound quality, can be better represented if you have something to compare it to. And the general consensus for the pulse 3D's is that the Astro 20 and 7P's sound wise are just so slightly better than the Pulse 3D's

So they don’t have bass. Sound flat. Are the steel series much better or pretty much the same?
The audio in astros playroom with these is incredible. Most folks that complain of volume or impact need to turn the chat slider all the way to game even if you aren’t in a chat.
Also in the ps5 settings you can adjust the 3D audio based on your hearing, everyone has different hearing so there are a few options you can pick from for optimal sound.
I've been using the one earpiece headset that comes with the ps4. So these are amazing for me 🤣. Definitely appreciate the review

One of the best RUclipsrs I've found! Excellent detailed reviews! Quick question: When using my Pulse 3d's on the PS5 using the dongle, the audio seems very low. This is after maxing out the headset volume rocker, and game/chat to emphasize game audio. Any idea why the PS5 UI volume slider for the headset volume is set to the lowest position, and grayed out. With other headsets I set this to max and then adjust the headset as needed. Why is this grayed out for this headset? Thanks and keep up the great content. *Subscribed!*
I have both headsets to decide which one was better and this video along with the comparison is right on the money. I'm going to the return one of them but I'm torn cuz the aesthetics of the 3D Pulse is just beautiful

i have ordered 3 sets of these and paid for them 2 have been cancelled, 1 is still processing- the first pair was in transit but got lost
I cant get over the fact that the SS Arctic series headphones still come with Micro USB port for charging in 2020. Also, there should be no excuse to not have a Chat/Game audio mixer on the headphones if the Sony's have it. I think i will just have to wait till more options become available. Very informative video though.
Thank you for your test ! I've bought the Artic 7P after your video. But I'm french and my english is so poor hahaha. For text I'm able to understand but for audio more difficult for me. So could you say me where the Artic is good/bad versus this Pulse ? For games like Call Of Duty (you manage to know where the steps come from ?) For solo games like TLOU, Spiderman, Cyberpunk... for the ambiance... ?

I'm loving the headset, they're really good with watchdogs legion, the 3D sound is awesome in different enviroments.
How are they 3 months later?

the arctis 7p are also $189.99, so for wireless headphones the 3d pulse are still pretty good.
So my Razer Nari Ultimate are still better then these? I wanted to try these out now that they are available because though my Nari Ultimates are excellent they are on the heavy side and fit loose, so if I move my head down the headphones fall off and if I look up to like the ceiling, the headphones also fall off lol!
You’re right about the arctis 7 it’s way more comfortable than my old turtle beach headset which has a similar material to the Sony ones
I have the gold headset for PS4. Do they have 3D audio if used with ps5?

Would the 3D audio Profile make a difference for Bass?

I like these because if the battery gets low you can plug it into the controller and keep using them, you won't get all the features while plugged into the controller but you won't have to wait until they charge again to use them.
3D audio is universal for every headset, its just a technology to send a specific noise profile for stereo headphones. Sony just nailed the marketing to make them feel necessary. So far I like it, its a good wireless headset for its price point. Even works like a dream on my pc. I also have small ears so these are awesome haha
Can you listen to music with them? Is the bass good?
@@realtruth1448 Yes, just tried it (never used them for regular use before lmao). Its very clear and doesn't clip the sounds from over amplifying the audio like on some headsets. Just remember, on your phone, you need to use it with a wire

Thanks for selling me on the SteelSeries Arctis 7X. Unfortunately, they are sold out everywhere and I'm stuck with this 3d pulse headset which is so uncomfortable.
Best audio out there hands down is your own doc mix amp with headset like beyer dynamic steering 1990 volume and clarity is unmatched
I find the high end on the 1990's gets to be too much over time. They are excellent reference cans but not my preference for long term or casual listening. Great for mixing/mastering though.
About the bass. I know the original Pulse headsets on PS3 had a motor or "pulse" that you had to switch on for a vibration effect that provided the bass. Does these headsets have that feature?

I just picked up my ps5 at best buy. The Sony pulse headset was sold out so I went to target down the street, where I was lucky to pick up a set as they were stocking a fresh delivery of the headsets. I'm really impressed with the comfort and the sound quality. Demon's Souls sounds damn good.
I have an XSX, & I also have the Sony XB900 headphones so I bought a mic adapter for the headphones & they sound great for gaming. They also have the 3D feature so now you don't have to guess where shots are coming from, you can hear exactly where the shots are
Just returned my pulse 3d headset. It was my 3rd gaming headset ever and was most uncomfortable thing, for the first week. The 3d audio concept is going to be fire, once a good company makes em for the p5. Went with Astro 40s/mix amp, won’t play without a mix amp again

Here in Portugal the Pulse 3d costs 90 dollars, and the Arctis 7p costs 180 dollars, which one would you pick? Does the Arctis 7p justifys the large difference price?

These are better cause of the hidden mic and you can just updated it through the ps5

Yes you'll just have to plug in the dongle to whichever console you use at the time

Hmm this is the second review I've heard that says there's no bass or that it's flat (and I'm not doubting you on it!) but I got mine yesterday and I can't really hear anything that'd be tinny or entirely flat in bass department. I do think the bass sound is very "soft" sounding though, lacking real clarity in bass differences and you don't get any of the epicly booming or thumping bass you get from more expensive music listening headphones. But tinny isn't at all what I hear with the ones I have. Though I haven't tried Demon's Souls as I don't own it.
Just makes me think; Have they adjusted the sounds for a later batch after these complaints?
I can only hope they'd add some equalization options to the PS5 system menu to adjust them with.
Oh but I did btw do the 3D audio adjusting thing where you choose the sound that sound most like the sound on your ear level and I picked the lowest. Could that be a factor? Idk.

While I didn't get my PS5 at retail, I managed to pick up this bad boy from Walmart and these things are bad ass. They are so comfortable that I honestly forget I have them on sometimes. They sound good to and I heard the Mic isn't bad from my friends playing Warzone. My only complaint is that they are not as loud as I want them to be but overall I'm happy and it looks cool.

Are you using the headphones wired or wireless? I found sound dramatically improves if you plug them into the controller. I first started using this headset with the Wi-Fi USB dongle included in the box, and wasn't impressed with the sound. Changed to wired, and made a huge difference. A bit of a shame, as I was hoping i wouldn't need to go wired... but not a deal breaker. Also, recently played Rainbow Six Seige and the sound is fantastic - bass, mids, treble - all clear.... not sure RS Seige supports 3d audio - i left it on, and it works great.

I like wearing mine because it feels like nice durable composite material that's also lightweight. They do not feel cheap, even though it's lightweight.

ps5 came out with an update wheere you can set up eq and it def, improved them( refering to the pulse 3d, i turned every eq all thay way up and i will say its loud enuff, not ear numbing loud, like the 7ps, but the bass in the 3d pulse never distorts like i did witht the steel series, there is also a little slit above the 3d headphones that allows the bass to kind of push thru, if you will, so it doesnt sit in the head phone ear cup adn distort, just get the pulses, only becasue of the update, other wise the 7p

I just got my pulse ps5 headset, and it definitely is lacking base. Sounds fantastic, but it needs more low end sound. I haven't looked into sound settings on my PS5, but wondering if it can be adjusted on the console. Going to check it out tomorrow after work. Great review!

Edit: is there any way I can balance chat audio and game audio through the PS5 UI or do only Sony headsets come with that ability?
You can definitely do it on the ps5 itself it’s right on the sound setting when you hit the ps button
If you're in a PlayStation chat party there will be chat mix slider built into the mini chat menu. But if you're just in game chat you'll have to adjust via the games audio menu

Anyone remember the Pulse Elites for the PS3??? The ones that cracked and broke with in a week or two lmao.
SkittleXeroI don't know what everyone has done to break them. I bought mine when they came out and they still work fine. They are great for playing games like Skyrim and Fallout 3.

My turtle beaches I have had them longer and I've thrown, sat on, stepped on and dropped multiple times and they have never once cracked. I always picked up and sat down my pulse elites carefully and they still broke on both sides all the way through.
You mentioned that you have thrown your turtle beach headset.That doesn't sound like you are taking care of them to me.

I had it too... I loved it. It was like $250 when I got it. Mine broke because I slept with them🤣🤣. They lasted 2 years. I thought they were better with comforter and better made than the ps5 headset. It also had bass too it. The ps5 headset doesn't

Love this headset good thing my ears not that big fits almost perfect, the sounds is just fine not too much not too low, that u can’t complain about it,but is a bit better sounds than the platinum because of the 3D surrounds.

Most uncomfortable headphones i have worn. I’ll admit that the head strap was very good, that worked quite well, but the ear cups was just bad. It was way too shallow and didn’t give my ears enough room, and it didn’t encompass all of my ear. This caused a constant pressure against my ear which caused a bit of pain after like 15 minutes and totally broke any immersion. From the outside it looks way deeper than it actually is. The sad part is that these could’ve been amazing headphones for me for a great price, and it would feel super comfortable if only the earcups were just bigger and deeper
Completely disagree. Very comfortable headset with unbelievable sound and 3D audio. 9/10 rating overall. Recommend to both casual and hardcore gamers.
@@T1LL3R I agree the sound is good, but it’s nothing too impressive. And the comfortability of headphones is personal. Not everyone has smaller rounder ears. The price makes it good for a casual gamer. For a “hardcore” gamer the Arctis 7p or pro wireless is better in almost every way.
