That moment you realize that Collins just lost the love of his life, an amazing human being, and all they can do after Angel's funeral is argue over who was at fault in their relationships.
As Collins says that Angel believed in love: she did which brought happiness and love to the group. After her passing, it showed what she meant to the group and that they are lost without her to the point that the "family must died".
The reason everyone is so angry in this scene is because not only are they all mourning the loss of Angel, their group is coming to a breaking point and they’re not saying goodbye to only Angel but their relationships as well. In that moment it feels like everything is over. When I played Benny I was focused more on the fact I thought the true love of my life Mimi was leaving me
+Angelo James Mordini Mine is "He was the same way, he was always runaway, Hit the road, Don't COMMIT, YOUR FULL OF SHIT!!" cause this reminds me of when me and my friend were arguing with our boyfriend and I said something similar to this
i just realized at 1:50 everyone is looking away from Collins because they feel bad but Mark is the only one who looks up and meets his gaze and awwwww this scene is too much
I love how Maureen is described as a flirt and not staying with her partner but when Joanne is crying she comforts her :) I also feel sorry for Mark as he puts up with everyone's bull xxx
I really love the harmonization on the "I'd be happy to di for a taste of what Angel had, someone to live for, unafraid to say I love you," etc. I could just listen to that part on repeat tbh.
I feel bad for Mark having to be the anchor to all their shit. His face when Roger leaves is like "I can't believe this is literally happening. you little shit, get back here"
Mark's face when Roger leaves breaks my heart. He's like "What the fuck are you doing? Oh god, this is actually happening. Get back here you little shit!"
Thats actually what he is talking about. It wasnt ever about Benny. It was the drugs. She was killing herself with the drugs and he used Benny as an excuse to get away from it.
Collin singing, especially when he said "I can't believe this family must die", makes me tear up. I get shivers watching this, every time. "I'd be happy to die for a taste of what Angel had"...
Deleted scene is so much better... "Facing the fact you live a lie YES, YOU LIVE A LIE TELL YOU WHY" OMG, Adam's voice is so strong... Everyone is great here, but hands down for Adams melodic roar
We're doing this play at our school in November. The bad part is these two guys Mark and Rodger made the play but Mark is playing Roger while Rodger plays Mark so when we say their names, they get so confused.
Actually they would die to have a taste of what Angel had: someone to live for, (both) unafraid to say 'I love you', and unafraid to be open and not fear rejection or judgment from saying or doing something; complete acceptance. Yes, Angel was not afraid to say 'I love you', but we all want someone who will say it back and truly mean it. Angel was also unafraid to show her true self, no matter what the method was; just like removing her wig to reveal she was physically a man or her show when first meeting Mark and Roger. Absolute confidence in every word and action.
Besides mimi and roger, collins is my top favorite. Best actor in the whole movie. He's such a great actor. 💯 Collins brought a whole new perspective to the movie.
the first time I saw Collin it was on Law and Order, and I would never thought that he could sing so beautifully. I love his voice. and of course "Angel" also has a great voice.
can we take a moment to notice how it seems like roger is more heartbroken then everyone? even collins? he looks like he is in so much pain and honestly in the moment, mimi made it worse.
You never realize how inappropriate this is until you realize they're arguing in a graveyard lol!!! :( Glad they all get back together eventually. I love this song. So intense.
Grief is such a strong emotion. Clearly all of them are still hurting from their own losses during "without you," and now with their Angel taken away, the hole is so much bigger and harder to fill. I'd lash out too
Mark is the ONLY on who is single and now that Collins lost the love of his life Mark is trying to understand him and trying to tell everyone else to calm down
thanks because i learned from you, that i shouldn't take everything serious of. their comments . i end up upset , i love that you dont take it to the heart, thanks 😘💋
They fought each night!!! Every night Joanne would try to get Maureen to budge with what she was doing-see her point of view and change her behavior! Maureen would always childishly see this as an attack to her character. She doesnt want to budge- so she ignores Joanne and their problems that SHE caused in it.
BUT COLLINS says that Angel never would have wanted this!! Angel wanted to believe in love! He misses his family that he had in his friends! He doesnt want to say goodbye!!! Maureen finally LOOKS at Joanne! She sees how hurt she is!!!!!!! She wants to make amends. She knows she needs to budge. So she does. She goes and comforts Joanne. No doubt they have a long talk after that. Maureen finally grows up in this scene.
GOD I had a thing with a girl where she never budged. We never actually communicated so it doesnt work as a parallel very well, but I could just imagine what Joanne feels. The frustration and the sadness, completely ignored by the person you are so emotionally invested in!!!!! And the Relief when they finally recognize how you're feeling. God. Thank you Idina Menzel and Tracie Thoms :'(
Fun Fact: This wasn't completely copied over from the original musical version in the first version of the movie's script. It was written as a talked scene. This is one of the scenes which was like that, so there were multiple of them. In that version, there are claims which original version doesn't haves. This version, of course doesn't haves these claims.
That moment you realize that Collins just lost the love of his life, an amazing human being, and all they can do after Angel's funeral is argue over who was at fault in their relationships.
Sometimes, people get lost in their own tornado and fail to see other's people pain. So yeah, it is actually understandable and very real too.
Pain has a habit of bringing up other pain, and grief tends to unleash a lot of it.
As Collins says that Angel believed in love: she did which brought happiness and love to the group. After her passing, it showed what she meant to the group and that they are lost without her to the point that the "family must died".
Fuck, this made me cry even more
The reason everyone is so angry in this scene is because not only are they all mourning the loss of Angel, their group is coming to a breaking point and they’re not saying goodbye to only Angel but their relationships as well. In that moment it feels like everything is over. When I played Benny I was focused more on the fact I thought the true love of my life Mimi was leaving me
'I'd be happy to die for a taste of what Angel had'
Poor Collins having to listen to his friends being so cruel and insensitive.
I'd be happy to die for a taste of what Angel had. Someone to live for unafraid to say "I love you"
My favourite line.
Mine is
"Dident give an inch when I have a mile"
Cause I can relate very well
+Angelo James Mordini Mine is "He was the same way, he was always runaway, Hit the road, Don't COMMIT, YOUR FULL OF SHIT!!"
cause this reminds me of when me and my friend were arguing with our boyfriend and I said something similar to this
Angelo James Mordini "Gave a mile to who" Roger... so petty just then
Aria Loewen everytime i hear that part im cry
Same
i just realized at 1:50 everyone is looking away from Collins because they feel bad but Mark is the only one who looks up and meets his gaze and awwwww this scene is too much
Dammit, Kirsty. You're so right.
That 'ALLLLL' Roger sings is the best note hit in this movie. It sends chills through my body.
the final Broadway performance version of that note gets me every time, it's even more powerful than this one
right
lol
Nathan Creek Yes! I just love it!
time stamp?
I love how Maureen is described as a flirt and not staying with her partner but when Joanne is crying she comforts her :) I also feel sorry for Mark as he puts up with everyone's bull xxx
I really love the harmonization on the "I'd be happy to di for a taste of what Angel had, someone to live for, unafraid to say I love you," etc. I could just listen to that part on repeat tbh.
katiakat999 SAME!
Gorgeous
OMG! Adam's voice is so strong. "All your words are nice Mimi... You never share real love until you love yourself, I SHOULD KNOW". So powerful
Sounds like a rock band lead singer
Shirley Garay Best part!
Shirley Garay It's really great!!
poor mark, having to deal with everyone's shit
😂😂😂😂
word 😂
G
True
kittycat kit Still mad they cut his banging solo song.
I feel bad for Mark having to be the anchor to all their shit. His face when Roger leaves is like "I can't believe this is literally happening. you little shit, get back here"
Joanne and Maureen at the end especially Joanne she was crying I feel you girl
Mark's face when Roger leaves breaks my heart. He's like "What the fuck are you doing? Oh god, this is actually happening. Get back here you little shit!"
I can never tell if Roger is trying not to cry after the fight with Mimi, is extremely pissed off, or both.
Both
Anyone else every think when Rodger sings gave a mile to who he's not talking about benny he's talking about the drugs because they always came first
Thats actually what he is talking about.
When Mimi takes a step towards Roger at the end and he just walks away... wow
Maureen going to Joanne makes me cry every time :'(
Deleted scene is so much better...
"Facing the fact you live a lie
YES, YOU LIVE A LIE
TELL YOU WHY"
OMG, Adam's voice is so strong... Everyone is great here, but hands down for Adams melodic roar
I love that scene!
i feel the same!
"I can't believe he's gone, i can't believe you're going, I can't believe this family must die" Favorite part.
"All your words are nice, Mimi but love's not a three way street"
My favorite line
1:16
"Gave a mile to who?" is very good too
We're doing this play at our school in November. The bad part is these two guys Mark and Rodger made the play but Mark is playing Roger while Rodger plays Mark so when we say their names, they get so confused.
Ha. That's still funny
I would also die for a chance for what Angel had, someone to live for and not be afraid to say I love you....Y'all know
the harmonies from mimi & Joanne 🔥
I love when Mini sings "i gave a mile"
I lost it when mimi and Joanne said they'd die to be like angel not afraid to say I love you
Actually they would die to have a taste of what Angel had: someone to live for, (both) unafraid to say 'I love you', and unafraid to be open and not fear rejection or judgment from saying or doing something; complete acceptance.
I love the "You're full of shit!" line. perfect deliverance!
Adam Pascal's voice is perfect for this song.
Maureen and Joanne
Someone to live for, unafraid to say "I love you"!
One of the most touching lines ♥
This scene is my favorite from the musical and movie both. It's so strong, and you end up feeling bad for most everybody.
Besides mimi and roger, collins is my top favorite. Best actor in the whole movie. He's such a great actor. 💯 Collins brought a whole new perspective to the movie.
Collins is such a pure soul. I'd be way more pissed at my friends in that scenario. Good on him
My one beef with the scene: the wide shot as they walk through the cemetery.
1:16 I keep going back just for that part damn he’s good
such a quick scene and song but its so strong and telling :(
Bruh... Every single time this is playing I cry. The line, Unafraid today I love YOUuuuuuuuUuUu makes me cry each time.
I always feel bad for Maureen and Roger in this scene
I'd be happy to die for a taste of what Angel had.
1) when that guitar kicks in is so powerful
2) i always loved the dual mark "come on guys chill" (apparently only on CD version)
the first time I saw Collin it was on Law and Order, and I would never thought that he could sing so beautifully. I love his voice. and of course "Angel" also has a great voice.
can we take a moment to notice how it seems like roger is more heartbroken then everyone? even collins? he looks like he is in so much pain and honestly in the moment, mimi made it worse.
I think that is really true. Roger is in pain
this is one of my favorite scenes in the movie, next to "take me of leave me" lol. thanks so much for posting!
the first time i've had proper tears running down my face in months, maybe over a year. no sobbing, though. i wish something could make me sob.
This might be my favorite song in the whole play. I wish they had left the full version in the movie.
"just came to say goodbye love" makes me cry
You never realize how inappropriate this is until you realize they're arguing in a graveyard lol!!! :( Glad they all get back together eventually. I love this song. So intense.
Grief is such a strong emotion. Clearly all of them are still hurting from their own losses during "without you," and now with their Angel taken away, the hole is so much bigger and harder to fill. I'd lash out too
I cry every time 👼
Thank you sooooooooooooo much for not deleting the video. Sooo many people have deleted this song and other songs from rent. Thanks!
0:56 i love this line “didn’t give an inch when i gave a mile”
Rogers actor has the best voice my god
Mark is the ONLY on who is single and now that Collins lost the love of his life Mark is trying to understand him and trying to tell everyone else to calm down
I'd be happy to die for a taste of what Angel had. Someone to live for unafraid to say "I love you!" My favourite line
"I'd be happy happy to die for a taste of what angel had. Someone to live for. Unafraid to say I love you.". 😢😢 I understand that verse now. ❤❤😭😭
I have watched this show over and over, my favorite songs are "I'll cover you" and Love me or Leave me"
I think you mean: Take Me or Leave Me my friend. :)
Man…. I need to watch the movie again, it's too Beautiful
Still brings years to my eyes :'(
Everytime I see Joan crying in this I cry too...
I know EXACTLY why I'm crying in the club right now.
Anyone who says they don't get choked up with this scene is lying
i can't imagine the emotional wreckage i would have gone through if this was included in the movie
I saw this last night and am not ashamed to say that I cried at Collins' part.
Entire song brings the waterworks... "Goodbye love, hello disease"
Collins just breaks me up.
i have no idea what rent is about, never did, but i always loved this song! 😁
the chords from "lean on me" starting at 2:05 always get me
COME ON GUYS CHILL
Lavender Love -Mark Cohen 😂😂
Look at your profile and say that out loud 😂😂
"Gave a mile to whoooo?"
LOL!
I love this song! Mark is the best.
Adam Pascal has such an amazing voice!
this song made me cry
same
One of my favorite scenes in the movie..
thanks because i learned from you, that i shouldn't take everything serious of. their comments
. i end up upset , i love that you dont take it to the heart, thanks 😘💋
Still pissed they cut the rest of this song, I want to cry
Right!
Mark be in the back like: 👁👄👁
Roger had some of the best notes throughout but that All was powerful but his voice has a rock and roll sound so it suits him well
All your words are nice, Mimi! But love's not a three way street!
He sounds like a rock band lead singer at that part
+Angelo James Mordini That's because that's what he was before the drugs and HIV. They got a rock singer to play him as well.
Emily he was in the original Brodway play of Rent. So it was amazing that he was able to play in the film adaptation.
Tbh i think its so unfair that theyre saying they would die for what angel had like BRO
as soon as collins starts singing im in tears
"Gave A Mile To Who!?!?" Every guy who's ever been cheated on felt that one! 😐
WHEN JOANNE STARTS ARGUING MAUREEN PHYSICALLY TURNS FROM JOANNE
They fought each night!!! Every night Joanne would try to get Maureen to budge with what she was doing-see her point of view and change her behavior! Collins always makes me ugly cry. God damnitt.
Mimi: I'd be happy to die for a taste of what Angel had. Someone to live for, unafraid to say I love you.
Benny: Uhhhhh, hello? Right here.
At 1:16, whats the name of this singer?
His voice is fucking badass.
EDIT: It's Adam Pascal, if anyone else is curious.
+Meez Adam pascal
This always gets me 😭
Angel's death will always make me cry...
It is so touching.
I cant believe this was my favorite movie when i. Was 5
I only know this thanks to GameGrumps... But this is really emotional.
My school just rent and i cried and sobbed in the theatre- still a mess tbh.
A car for a guitar. Sounds like a reasonable exchange 🙄
Kate Steventon THAT'S WHAT I ALWAYS THOUGHT
shidd.
Kate Steventon he didn't trade the guitar he sold it then bought a car no trade from guitar to car
True Deadshot450 True, yet it's implied that without the revenue raised through the sale of his guitar, he would be unable to afford said car.
Kate Steventon hey if it was a badass guitar and he sold it to a collector maybe, that'd be enough for a cheap little beater car easy.
"I could die for a taste of what Angel had!"
Angel: *Had Aids and died of it*
"Someone to live for!"
Angel: *Died*
Mimi has Aids too.
Fun Fact: This wasn't completely copied over from the original musical version in the first version of the movie's script. It was written as a talked scene. This is one of the scenes which was like that, so there were multiple of them.

Collins is my favorite character.
Curious where is the rest of the song, the part where mark, roger and mimi are alone,
0:55 is probably the best part to the all
love rent
Nearly every part of this musical is relatable in an unfortunate way 😂
Damn the actors on here I never knew they could sing
Same!
I love this movie but it is so sad me and my mom cry alot
I feel bad for all of them. They lost angel and they have to work together to help each other
