Love that BDL, I hunted for years with one I bought about 1972 and had a inexpensive Bushnell Scope on it, it was a Sportview, it never lost its point of aim, I think you should scope it and get a rifle like a M1 Garland for an iron sight rifle👀👀, my BDL shot MOA using Core Lokt and 150 grain bullets so maybe switch from the 180 grainers
Great video. It would be cool to do another bullet group test using the Remington 06 comparing the old style Core-Lokt vs the new Core-Lokt just to see how much improvement the polymer tip makes, if any.
I was thinking old vs new also but taking the same grain bullet of both kinds and testing it out on either meat/ bone targets or maybe in gel. He should do yours also, like to see that to.
I've used Remington 180gr Core-Lokt's in 30.006 since 1978 and they are very accurate - my Remington 760 pump always put them into a 2.0 inch circle at 100yards using a bench rest and sandbags, occasional flyers, yes, absolutely, but they were rock steady in accuracy from my experience. My buddies and I were taught to hunt using 4" orange clay pigeons at 100 yards and I don't remember missing to many of these at 100yards but not sure cuz it was too long ago, but that was our gold standard back then to hit that 4" clay pigeon with every shot at 100 yards.
That stuff has done ok for me. Your 700 is gorgeous. I’ve take quite a few deer with he old stuff in 150 gr. It was all I used when I was younger because my old .308 Savage likes it. I have not tried the new stuff... yet.
I have that exact same Remington 30-06 and I absolutely love that gun! It's just as beautiful to it's hard for me to take it out in the brush cause I don't want to scratch it but I do 😂🤙🇺🇸

Hey Adam! Thanks for the fun and highly informative video. I have nothing but love for you, Brother, so please receive my thoughts in that frame of mind. I, completely, understand your desire to have a beautiful classic Remington 700 BDL in .30-06 with iron sights. Yep, it IS gorgeous. However, the way it beats you up on your cheek renders it nigh unusable. It’s a shame to forfeit the pleasure of more regularly shooting such a masterpiece because of a nostalgic mindset. I get that, too, because I have to reason with myself about similar decisions more often than I care to admit - the ideal versus the practical. For what it’s worth, I am so enamored with the beauty of the 700 BDL, that I was sorely tempted to purchase a BDL, at a distant WallyWorld, even though it was chambered in .243. It would have been the most expensive firearm that I own, but I just couldn’t justify buying a bolt rifle in a caliber other than .308 or -06, for personal reasons. I don’t have a ton of money and I have plenty (pre-pandemic) of .308 and -06 ammo for rifles I own, already. Here’s a thought on behalf of your viewing audience: would you consider, temporarily, mounting one of your better scopes on the BDL and post a video to show us it’s accuracy capabilities on the same playing field as your scoped Ruger American -06? Thank you, so much, for your videos. The weed killer by .223, was unique and fun! Also, your guitar playing for worshiping our Lord is a blessing. Blessings on you and your family. Grace and Peace 😊
I have the same setup with iron sights so I put see-through rings that way I could use the irons or the scope according to the situation and it works very well
Great video - I watched your other video with you shooting the .243 - another good video. I'm from the old school and shot deer with the original 30.06 Remington Core-Lokt 180gr Pointed Soft Points and it knocks em up and down like now. and yes my Remington 760 pump 30.06 kicks like a mule but it puts the deer down like they got hit with a 100lb sledge hammer! I don't use the Remington 760 pump anymore cuz it just kicks too hard - will use the .243 now and it does the job with a lot less kick!
Good stuff. 700 BDL is a beautiful rifle. The stock indicates that it is a 1980s to 1990s. I have had 2 both in 7mm RemMag. 1 was an early 80s & the 2nd early 90s both looked just like your beauty.
30-06, 180 grain is just a great cartridge/ Bullet combination. Use a suitably constructed 180 and you are good to go on most any game, short of the big stuff in Africa. Please Adam, get rid of that terrible bolt handle on the BDL. It is an abomination. I have seen better looking boils. lol.
Might want to invest in a peep for that Remington if you want to keep it as an iron sighted rifle. It will help a lot, as will shooting 150gr bullets! Didn't know Rem is now making these classic bullets with a tip. Great cost effective bullets even better!

I hope you put a nice Scope on your Remington 700 . Great Video . Haven't see any of the Tipped Ammo here yet , when I do I will get some and take it to the Range . Thank you for the Great Video , please make more .
I have an old Ruger stainless M77 in 30-06 that money could not buy and it likes the Core-Lokt ammo. Cheap, reliable, and accurate. I don't use the tipped but the soft nose.
Wow both guns had a shot through the same hole. I hav shot these with my 7mm and seen the best accuracy of what I have tried. It’s what I will use deer hunting this fall great stuff!
Shoot that BDL offhand and you'll not get the cheek smack. We've used Remington sights like that for years here in the WV hills using 700's 742's and 760's. Shots are usually 60 yards or less. Place the bead behind the deer's shoulder and yank the trigger. What you want it iron sight accuracy is that all the shots will be placed in the diameter the bead "subtends" at whatever distance you are shooting at. If the sight subtends 6 inches of the target at 100 yards then I expect all the hits to be in that 6 inch spot. You did good.
Who T Who my old Daddy used to sign in his 30-06 Springfield on the same paper plate as you use. He would say if you could put it on there at a 100 yds. that was meat in the freezer!
My 30-06 tends to prefer 165 gr and I'm considering on getting a box or two to see how they shoot. I plan on going on a rifle elk hunt next year and I'm seeing these Core-lokt tipped are available. Seems like to me they should be just fine for elk making sure I keep the shots under 300/350 yards and good shot angles.
Good shit man! Do you plan on doing any ballistics testing like paper plates or gel with the tipped stuff? I'd like to see how they actually perform. How fast are they?
Just got a midland arms 30-06 never shot 30-06before and man do i love the caliber all i need for deer to moose its all good buuyyaaa!! Just tried it and wow
Sweet old rifle, it does look great without scope, but you give up a little accuracy with iron sites. Tough decision on what you should do; it looks so nice without scope.
When that comb is smacking you in the chops, I doubt it is helping your shooting. I think you should get some good quality quick detachable scope mounts and put a scope on that rifle. That rifle deserves a good scope and you can always just pop the scope off when you want to use the irons. The best of both worlds. Its a shame to handicap that rifle by only using the irons and getting rapped in the chops every shot.
Yo Who Tee Who, I absolutely love that wood colored rifle!!! first of all I must say im a little biased when it comes to 30.06s I dont know why, but the 30.06 is my favorite rifle and that one you got there is just stunning!
Just a little heads up. If you just use the front rest on the lead sled and let the buttplate rest in your should it will stop wacking you in the face. The solid rear rest makes the barrel jump straight up and hit you in the face where a traditional hold allows the weapon to push backward instead of jump. Give it a try standing freehand and you will see the difference in recoil. Who tee who!
Been getting around late and missing the live video. I guess as long as I am getting to watch it is all good tho. That Remington ammo seems to be doing pretty good in all of the guns so far. Been putting up some very good patterns with them all so far. I have been using the core lokt in my model 99 .300 Savage for as long as I can remember. That was about the only boolot that you could find for the .300 Savage. Have shot some federal but the hunting round was basically the Remington core lokt in 150 grain. My gun was always liking the 150 better then the 180 grain.
Oh yeah! The 180 gr are good elk medicine! I like the 150 gr for deer/antelope and like sized critters. 165-168 gr are really a sweet spot! My old Savage shot extremely well but I bruised my cheek and shoulder something fierce!
I’ve shot countless whitetail, several muley, lots of pigs, 3-4 elk, and no telling how many coyotes with 30-06 core lockts over a 25 year period when younger. The ammo was always available and cheap. They have got the job done forever. I handload now but would not fear buy boxes if needed some

I have an old Ruger stainless M77 in 30-06 that money could not buy and it likes the Core-Lokt ammo.
Cheap, reliable, and accurate. I don't use the tipped but the soft nose.
Can’t wait to see you do some hunting with that Remington 30/06.
I love your 30/06 with the iron sight
You could hit a gong with iron sights! Then you would get some feedback! Nice shooting!

Wow both guns had a shot through the same hole. I hav shot these with my 7mm and seen the best accuracy of what I have tried. It’s what I will use deer hunting this fall great stuff!
I have 1 box of these and looking for more now. Thanks for this video and keep the content coming
Beautiful rifle buddy. I like the heavy ammo as well. Have a good week
Try 150 grains with those iron sights....I’ve hunted with a Rem 700, 30.06 for 25 years. 180’s definitely kick a little harder
Have the exact same BDL with scope. Once I sighted it in I put it away till time to hunt.
Who T Who my old Daddy used to sign in his 30-06 Springfield on the same paper plate as you use. He would say if you could put it on there at a 100 yds. that was meat in the freezer!
Awesome!
You did very well with iron sights at 100 yards especially with a penny size mark on a paper plate that was just traced on
🙏🙏🙏
My 30-06 tends to prefer 165 gr and I'm considering on getting a box or two to see how they shoot. I plan on going on a rifle elk hunt next year and I'm seeing these Core-lokt tipped are available. Seems like to me they should be just fine for elk making sure I keep the shots under 300/350 yards and good shot angles.
Good shit man! Do you plan on doing any ballistics testing like paper plates or gel with the tipped stuff? I'd like to see how they actually perform. How fast are they?
Soon
Just got a midland arms 30-06 never shot 30-06before and man do i love the caliber all i need for deer to moose its all good buuyyaaa!! Just tried it and wow
A scope with see through mounts is what my 700 ADL wears.
Finally here🙄. Ruger loves new ammo. With irons , Remington rifle still a dead deer in the frezzer. Thanks Adam 😊
Hey Randy
Those ruger Americans are some great rifles very accurate Personally can't shoot Iron sites very well with my old eyes enjoyed the video as always
Thanks for watching Merlin
I think I saw the missing fifth going right in the hole made before near the center.
There was something moving..
All I use but in 165. Awesome round and very accurate.
Beautiful Model 700 back when it was a true Remington.
Sweet old rifle, it does look great without scope, but you give up a little accuracy with iron sites. Tough decision on what you should do; it looks so nice without scope.
Awesome video as always.
🙏🙏🙏
When that comb is smacking you in the chops, I doubt it is helping your shooting. I think you should get some good quality quick detachable scope mounts and put a scope on that rifle. That rifle deserves a good scope and you can always just pop the scope off when you want to use the irons. The best of both worlds. Its a shame to handicap that rifle by only using the irons and getting rapped in the chops every shot.
I'm partial to 165 grain but after watching this I'll try to find some 180 and compare. Thanks for sharing and i hope your dental work is intact.
My new AK rifle, same deal, bust my cheek trying to line up the fixed sights...and can't see where I'm hitting unless I glass it
Mighty fine groups !!
Yo Who Tee Who, I absolutely love that wood colored rifle!!! first of all I must say im a little biased when it comes to 30.06s I dont know why, but the 30.06 is my favorite rifle and that one you got there is just stunning!
Gotta love a wood stock
@@WHOTEEWHO indeed, I bet if you'd had a scope on it you'd have had similar results as the Ruger
Joyous sound ! 💯
AWESOME, GREAT JOB 👍 👌
have always very good groups from rem core lock ammo.had rem 700 shot good groups.700 is good/and a beautiful rifle..
Thanks Eric

Been getting around late and missing the live video. I guess as long as I am getting to watch it is all good tho. That Remington ammo seems to be doing pretty good in all of the guns so far. Been putting up some very good patterns with them all so far. I have been using the core lokt in my model 99 .300 Savage for as long as I can remember. That was about the only boolot that you could find for the .300 Savage. Have shot some federal but the hunting round was basically the Remington core lokt in 150 grain. My gun was always liking the 150 better then the 180 grain.
i have some and used to hunt with 220 grain. took 2, a 10 and a 8, a few yrs ago.
Had to miss tonight, didn't leave Dollywood until around 9.
I will let it slide this time 😝
Oh yeah! The 180 gr are good elk medicine! I like the 150 gr for deer/antelope and like sized critters. 165-168 gr are really a sweet spot! My old Savage shot extremely well but I bruised my cheek and shoulder something fierce!
Love your show hope all is well just heard of storm my prayers go out too all
All good here
You clipped the right edge with the 5th shot.
