Good perspective offered here. Mood on the ground the morning after the election at my workplace (USPS mail carriers and clerks in a Midwest city) was just disbelief. Locally, Trump won overwhelmingly in the state (but not the urban areas,) while state ballots to legalize abortion and raise the minimum wage won. A measure to raise police pay lost. Despite the seeming contradictions, this actually make sense. The parties and institutions which have held sway for so long are in crisis and dissolving faster than a genuine working class, Communist alternative can replace them. Like the line in the Communist Manifesto says "all that is holy is profaned, all that is solid melts into thin air." Trumpism is just filling a vacuum temporarily left open, it cant offer any real solutions for working people. The struggle continues.
That is absolute rubbish what you say about Russia. Look at journalists and journalism. Alan Woods has read a few Marx books. That's about it. He is more of a Fabian. If even that.
Very interesting points made and I agree with the analysis that trump had made a better appeal to working class people despite his real intentions being nothing of the sort
I am not sure if the establishment was against Trump. Actually the economic indicators (US stock indices, US government bonds and the US$ were all rising on wednesday while gold was falling) imdicate that investors think that Trumpmis better for the US economy at least on the short term, which is what capitalists care most aboout. It seems his proposed tax cuts and protectionist measures are (at least on the short term) good for the US economy. PS: after seeing the whole video, I am sure that a part of the US bourgeoisie is indeed against Trump, maybe even a majority, because of the long-term dangers of his protectionist policies and appeal to the working-class. But at the short term it seems, that the US bourgeoisie benefits from his policies. Because of this there is also a relevant chunk of the bourgeoisie that support him, for example Elon Musk but also a sizable portion of Silicon Valley. Otherwise he also wouldn't have got the billions needed for his campaign (he didn't spend a lot of his own money on it).
Averege USA net worth: $1.063 million. Averege household wealth adjusted for debt: $1.8 million. USA national debt distributed per sitizen: $107,000. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes but all the wealth is concentrated in the hands of a tiny minority while the rest are asked to pay for the enormous debt that these parasites have accumulated.
What insights did this museum piece have to offer, aside from the gratuitous display of his own misogyny and smugness, and the old communist deference to strongmen?
When was Alan Woods either mysogynynistic or smug? Just because it's a female that was a PM or the Presidential candidate doesn't mean that they have to be liked or agreed with. It's class that is important.
What are you on about? The race has been called since about 6 am EST. It’s over. Trump won whether you like it or not. As the person above said, Kamala’s already scheduled to give her concession speech at 4 pm EST.
@fabilovesfutbol lol There's a HUGE process. Yes. He has more electorates That does not mean he won It's like saying Hillary won because she won the popular vote. Our Founding Fathers weren't that dumb.
Hitlers national socialism failed as well as the Soviet Unions. Marxism is no different than Nazism in terms of identitarian collection of people and material through violent force. Freedom is attractive because self expression and liberty allow the individual to think without ideological possession. America has a little socialism and a little fascism but a balance of democracy in as a Republic based on freedom rather than collectivism. Oppression is measured by the limits of individual expression and freedom of speech. A country that was at war with communism, allows a communist party to have expression and freedom of speech proves freedom is favored more than censorship. In a commnist country your thoughts are policed and controlled by the state. Limitations with control set against ideas is totalitarianism.
Marxism is a way of thinking, that's why the material dialectics. Nazism, the word, they way is wrong and only used by the capitalist to win elections. They never was social to anyone and in the end only served the rich few. National Socialism only serves the rich few, just as capitalism is only a dictatorship of the rich! Socialism it is in the name is supposed to solve the problems socially. Communism is an idea, you are not immediately in communism, it is about being stateless (no higher violence), moneyless (no stronger force like now) and classless (no higher classes only the one, the human being) and this can only be archived with science and technolegy.

All done to make him popular!
Notwithstanding anything you may have to say about Starmer, he has a fine forensic mind. It's a pity about his lack of charisma, though.
'America First' doesn't necessarily indicate a zero-sum game.
