Great video. I used to make button holes similar to how you developed back when I was knitting mostly on Brother and Silver Reed machines but then started using my button hole attachment on my sewing machine.
I find it’s quicker to knit my band, then attach it and take it to the sewing machine. But finding matching thread for the sewing machine can be a challenge sometimes.
Thanks for the video! It’s very informative.
When I get home from vacation I’m going try your buttonhole method.

Thank you very much for your idea, Terry. I hadn't thought about using the sewing machine to make buttonholes on knitted garments before. It's a brilliant suggestion, and I'm definitely going to give it a try. I hope you're having an amazing vacation! Enjoy your time off and make the most of it! 🌞

Love how you presented a few different options for making buttonholes and look forward to more options as you explore new ways to make more styles of buttonholes. Thank you for all your efforts to share your knowledge.

I would love to see how to do a neck and sleeves, if that is feasible for you. Thank you again for this video.

I definitely plan to create such videos in the future. However, I want to master the techniques first. This way, I'll be able to provide detailed explanations and address any questions that may arise.

What style neck and sleeve do you have in mind? There are so many. Boat neck and drop sleeve are good beginner projects. Set in sleeves and round or V necks are a bit more advanced. Those take getting measurements correct to fit properly. Meaning you need to know how to make pattern adjustments for your body type.

I knitted many years two decades ago but by hand. On a machine I am quite a beginner and wondering how to put stitches on old while doing a top. As a beginner I am considering a summer top with straps and square neck, to start. There are softwares that are helping to calculate from a gauge.

@@anne-mariegaglio1461 Are you using software to calculate your pattern? Putting stitches on hold can be done with decker combs, or other types of stitch holders and rehung at a later time. On Passap if you are using BX any needle without a pusher in working position will not knit. You can knit a section, right or left at one time, then the other side. You can bind off the center stitches of your square neck before proceeding to knit the shoulder and armholes. I hope that is the answer you were looking for.

    Wonderful and easy to understand!
Do you have any ideas on how I would make a buttonhole in 2x2 rib that is more than one RC so I can fit a larger button?

I think it would need to go across the ribbing like in the Passap style, but I sure wish I could make it go along the rib.

I'm not quite sure how to create a larger buttonhole in a 2x2 ribbing either, but I'm eager to find out. I'll do some research and run some tests on the machine. I have an idea of how it might work out, and if it looks promising or if I come across any additional information, I'll definitely share it with you.
