Fantastic solution! I love being able to tweak things to get them working correctly. People look at me as if I'm a magician when I am successful!
I did not see your post, but liked your explanation a lot, Stian. And I am very much looking forward to your next video.
Wasn't the dial on upside down??? **scratches head**
This is a very good lesson in troubleshooting. The hands will often hang up on each other or on the dial. I did not think of dial seating causing binding of the cannon pinion.
Hands of Gold!
After listening to your explanations it was absolutely clear to me. 😅😊
😁👍
Yikes. That scar below the seconds hand crossbar. Some person who did not take the care you do.
Just joined Membership-note I find the safest way to reset dial feet is drill a brass rod to correct diameter less likely to break dial feet and need the were to buy the brass bent nose tweezers you use 😃
Thanks for signing up, Amanda! Using the tweezers is indeed not the best, but if you have a staking set you can use that instead of having to drill your own :) The tweezers I use are from Regine Horology. They're called 7A-BRA and you can get them directly from them by contacting info@regine.ch
Thanks Stian, good learning there.👍
I have done this a few times myself and of course broken a few dial-feet in the process. So of course I would have loved to take a closer look at Your bending-technique. Apart from breaking off a foot one can make interesting dents in the dial, too, that give a constant reminder of one's technical ineptitude.
Absolutely!
Thanks Stian, I’ve tried this a few times, all has gone well, but I’m always really worried of breaking off the feet! Ta ta.
Beautiful dial, i love the machine cutting showing the gold very classy
Watch of the future? Time runs backwards? Oldsters like them ! Feel younger and more alive 😅
سلمت يدك أستاد ❤
Upside down
It's missing a digital display.
Jaeger is missing on the dial...
Well done! Intellect, competence, and confidence.
Thanks! 😊
The canonpin is not in the middle of "its" hole.
Well, the big question is - how did the dial get displaced like that?🤔
Probably from a shock, such as the watch being dropped on the floor.
The one freaking movement NOT in Roland Ranfft's database. Grrrr!
😁 Oh, there are a lot of movements not in his database... it's still the best resource around for vintage movements but I'd guess his database covers perhaps 60-70% of all movements ever mass produced. So whenever you come across a movement he doesn't have, send him some photos and information and he'll be very happy!
@@VintageWatchServices I have done so several times. But I bought a full length seconds hand for a K812 which fit on the center-seconds arbor for the P450/4C in the ref. 2953 I own. At least I thought it was for a K812--I recall searching the parts lists to determine that the center-seconds arbor (it's indirectly driven) was the same between the two movements, so that I was sure the hand would fit on it. Maybe it wasn't for an 812--I certainly didn't remember that being a bumper movement. Maybe it was the 810, but that doesn't trigger a thing in my memory. They say the memory is the second thing to go...
It's upside down 😬😆
It's upside down
😂
It's upside-down
nicevideo, but maybe it could be a little bit longer (!) , but veryinformative, thnkx!
Is there any chance of getting that Ulysse Nardin warch in a video? Checked your Chrono24, looks SICK!
Thanks for watching and for checking out my C24 site :) Which UN are you thinking of?
@@VintageWatchServices Just saw one of them? Any Nardään would do, love the brand, it does not get enough time in the spotlight. Same goes for Glashütte Original and Orient with their inhouse movements. 💪
So I'm not entirely sure what your question is? Are you interested in buying VWS-1993?
@@VintageWatchServices sorry, it was no question, just a personal statement that I think some brands gets more time in the spotlight. Initial question was if you’re going to do a video of Ulysse Nardine.
If the dial feet come off, what is the appropriate way to fix it?
Very interesting video !
Then you should attach new dial feet
But how can this be done without damaging the dial? I suspect that heat is out of the question. Also pining with a hammer. Glue then? Or even by tapping threads ?
Double sided sticky tape.
There is another thing that kan make a watch look fine on the timegrapher but doesn't keep the time according to the hands. I had an Omega Seamaster 60 ladies watch in for service a couple of years ago. The movement was a 684. On the timegrapher it looked ok efter service. But it was five minutes behind after only an hour if you looked at the hands. Of course i suspected the canon pinion or hands rubbing. But after eliminating these causes I ended up scratching my head for a while. And it was always exactly five minutes after an hour. I checked several times. Finally I found that the real reason was that somebody had swapped out the balance for one from a 681 movement. The 681 has a frequency of 19800 beats/h while the 684 has 21600. I did the math, and what do you know. It gave me the answer five minutes difference. And since all the other parts was was from the original 684, especially the fourth wheel that handle the correct gearing for this change of the frequency, the watch ran slow according to the hands. I should of course checked that the timegrapher picked up the right frequency in the first place. But i didn't and that bit me in the rear end like an angry bulldog. Live and learn.
Great insight! 👍
I may be wrong (since your location is Switserland according to your website) but I think I hear a Swedish accent through your English language. Correct?
Norwegian...

Hello Theon, about a year ago, you did a tripple calendar chronograph watch which was badly stuck and you were'nt able to dismantle it in the correct sequence,....which you usually do. In that, you used a product called "shelby laser", im not in the US,i looked for it but not able to find, is it just a US product, or can you recommend a place to get it pls. I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks for that.
Mike.
Hello Mike, can you let me know exactly which video you are referring to? You can find it on the channel homepage. Stian 😉
But how did it get like that
Probably from a shock like falling on the floor.
😀
