      Not on this '02. I did change it on my old '00 and that was a chore! www.lincolnvscadillac.com/forum/threads/dash-board-removal-thread.76669/

    So, how do I discharge the AC system before I start?

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  8 лет назад

      Hey, you'll have to take it into a service center to do that. I wouldn't think they'd charge much.

    will my compressor be in the same place? I got a 04 ls v8

    Hey I’m about 6 years late to this video lol but I got a v6 05 ls my compressor went out stopped spinning I’m assuming since my belt started burning and ripped all other pulleys look good except the ac compressor , haven’t moved the car or even turned it on in 2 months almost now before tho my ac did stop blowing cold should I still get it discharged before I replace my compressor?

    • @MakorRudy

      Your LSE is how I wanna make mine look btw beautiful car👏🏾

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  Год назад

      Hey! No worries! Yea if your compressor needs to be replaced, legally speaking you need to have the Freon extracted in an approved manner. After that the same place can charge you up the right way. DO NOT remove lines until Freon is removed, they are definitely under pressure!! And thank you! Still driving it. 230k on miles.

    • @MakorRudy
      @MakorRudy Год назад

      @@mechanized331 yea it’s cause the car doesn’t really move I tried just adding a new serpentine belt and it completely burned it and snatched the belt in half ac compressor doesn’t even spin so I can’t move the car or anything it’s just sitting right now

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  Год назад

      @@MakorRudy I’ve heard of people that vent the Freon from the Schrader valve and that’ll relieve the pressure from the lines before removal.

    Can you change out the compressor clutch, bearing and pulley without removing the compressor?

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  6 лет назад

      Nick LoCascio Hey. Honestly I don't know, it's pretty tight in there!! If you were going to attempt it, it may be advantageous to remove the radiator and such. I've never attempted it however.

    • @nicklocascio3109
      @nicklocascio3109 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the reply. Might just change out the compressor. How is the one you put in working?

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  6 лет назад

      Nick LoCascio It's still pumping strong, no issues!

    how did you know for sure it was the compressor

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  7 лет назад

      Because the refrigerant was leaking through the clutch shaft.

    • @stevenguzman8792
      @stevenguzman8792 2 года назад

      Do u know where it was leaking from?

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  7 лет назад

    where did you get the grill from?

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  7 лет назад +1

      It's a wire mesh insert made from a gutter covering.

    • @christinamcginty9089
      @christinamcginty9089 7 лет назад +1

      I'm trying to murder mine out, I have a chrome grill and could never find a place that has black lol could you please send me a diy on how to do it? 😁

    • @mechanized331
      @mechanized331  7 лет назад

      I don't have a DIY unfortunately. I'll give you a thumbnail. You cut and trim a piece of cardboard that fits into the grille perfectly. Remove the cardboard and then lay that over the wire mesh and cut that out the same shape. The wire mesh is an overlay over the factory grille. You drill very small holes with a #40 bit in various places and secure with small wire. This is the mesh from Home Depot. www.homedepot.com/p/Amerimax-Home-Products-6-in-x-36-in-Hinged-Gutter-Guard-Unpainted-85280BX/100002884 If you just want the grille black you could have it painted or at least Plasti-dip it you are on a budget.

    I think you're supposed to change the condenser, and accumulator as well when you do this. Also, If its not Motorcraft parts , its a crap shoot.

      True, but the LSE appeared in '02 first on the Gen 1's. Very limited with a one year only factory body kit and bumper and available in only two colors, black and birch silver! The internet is full of resources. Jump on Lincolnvscadillac.com and many of the FB LS pages i.e. Lincoln LS enthusiasts or Lincoln LS Obsessed.
