Judgemental? Bro, I love what you're doing. You're experimenting, trying, failing, and continuing. This project is ambitious and it looks awesome so far.
So happy and impressed with the addition of an English Wheel to your shop, Preston. Using it well is a dying art with digital everything these days. Give yourself some time. When you master it, customizers from all around will beat a path to your door...
I remember the start of the jeep where you could hardly keep a flat area flat, now your straight up fabbing fenders. The progression has really started to add up! Keep it up

Hey big guy hello from Canada!! I love all your projects that you throw all of yourself into to because you prove that if anyone feels inspired they should go for it and see what they can create to. The wide body is coming along so nice and everything you try is experience good or bad it still counts. One thing that would make your forming easier in the future is if you made a wood frame skeleton to shape onto. That way all you do is copy the frame pieces and put it all together in the reverse of the first one. If you are curious I would be happy to send you some examples pics and drawings to show how easy it works. You will be able to make mirrored big or small parts or panels easier and faster with way less frustration. :-) I can't wait to see in the next episode what you have planned. The race days you also featured are a super way for you to take a quick break to recharge your batteries and also show off your friends accomplishments as well. Finally you bought an English wheel metal shaper, give it time and you will master it. Now the fenders are really looking great, in black with blue accent they will look even better. Try to make a solid table, working on the floor is not ideal. Take care Preston.

Good for you for having a go at some wheeling on the English wheel, it is amazing what some talent can do to a sheet of steel, takes ages to learn but you have to start somewhere, keep it up.
One of the best ways to widen a set of VW fenders is to have 2 sets. Cut the flange off of one, and lay it over the other one mounted to the car. Tack it in position, then cut away the remnants underneath. I'd give you a couple sets if we were local!
Love the creativity and imagination you have that u thought of using harley fenders and making them wideri ser wat ur trying to do I think its a awesome idea and will look fucking awesome wen its all done
I really enjoyed this video it reminded me of the videos you made when you was building the Corvette Jeep.. those were good times... I have missed that person that you were back then I see your back ..that's great
If you made a dish in the top of a log and beat the metal into the general shape then used the English wheel to smooth it out. Also try using a piece of a car tube on the top wheel to give it more of a crown. See japhands customs for good information videos.
The way you used that tire to form the metal, try one of the rubber balls that Tractor supply sells they have a handle on them so you can mount it in your vise to keep it still. My uncle used something similar and formed a lot of panels for restorations, hammering shit out from a vision instead of using a mold/pattern is time consuming as hell. How many hours did you end up with in those fenders lol?
I fix my self like that a lot u could use ca glue or pvc primer. The primer stings like fire tho and ca glue was ment for wounds do yah but if ur in a pinch
Great watching you learn something new, But did you know that They make fiberglass wide fenders. I had 3in wide ones on my 71 supercharger super beetle. Keep up the great content
Yea I almost bought some, the problem is I had to cut the fender on the side where it bolts to the body and move some parts around just to get it to bolt up (because of all the other carnage we did to the bug body it tweaked some stuff) so I didn’t want to spend $450 on fenders I had to cut haha
@@GARAGEIdiotS yeah it might have taking just as long anyways, the ones I got didn't come predrilled and took some persuasion with the beltsander and bondo to fit flush . But looking good Luis
Oh shiiiit! English wheel?! You are really stepping your game up! have you Thought of making a mold out of your fenders. Just cake the bondo till you like it. Wax it with Johnson's floorpaste wax and fiberglass it. Then the fiberglass makes your mold. That way in the future when this is running 8's you can go carbon fiber.
Easiest and better way to fill those massive taillights hole is use fiberglass on the inside of the fender then use bondo on the outside primer and paint no one will even know there was a light or rather a massive hole
If you end up liking one side better than other. Then make mould or have someone 3D scan it. Then a skilled, yes I said skilled, (sorry) body tech could do a mirrored duplicate. Then spend gobs of money on carbon fiber version of them.
