- 2.5 years of work resulted in something cooler than I even thought possible. We proudly present to you the worlds first and only VW Bug using a Toyota MR2 chassis with a Honda K20 engine swap.

I too have been watching this build series since the beginning, and I think it came out better than expected for the most part. I gove credit for all the experimentation that was done on this chassis to see what works and what could be improved on. Thats what makes it a real build that's actually raced and driven hard instead of just parked and polished. Thanks for sharing this, it was nice to look back on the project as a whole from where ot started. Keep up the great work 👍

Been watching since the beginning and it didn’t bother me when you cut the car. You had a vision and it’s been awesome watching you accomplish your goals and dreams. Can’t wait to see the car get faster and your driving get better.
The classic bug platform is the basis for majority of kit cars produced in history. They'd only be mad if the person never completed the project.
Mate you should be proud of your self for what you have done the cars amazing it really is I have followed the build from the start and was well worth the wait for the end result 👍

Ive kept up 90% along the way... i forgot how much actually went into the jobe. I knew it had been some time but completely forgot about all the cutting and welding. Thanks for this one great reminder of what it took. Congratulations Preston youve definitely earned it. And your "team" as well.

As an owner of both MR2’s and my first car a 1965 VW bug this is the best Bug ever ! My 65 VW was even Blue.
From start to finish you have brought the project a long way you've built something in your own style with your own ideas and tested ad developed your skills further keep testing your skills and putting more cool shit like this out on the track
Absolutely love the bug. Didn’t realize it was a mr2 underneath n a chopped in half shell. Love the “ patina“ n the Gatling gun exhaust tip.
Honestly I have this taste in my mouth for the German bug it has ran in my family since the 60s as my Grandmother owned both the super B and a regular beetle.
The car turned out so well and you were right the upbeat song was much better than the other ones
Love the minimalist presentation, but now I have to go thru and watch a more in depth version. Just left me with lots of questions about the build.

The car turned out way better than I thought it would. I have been following this build since the beginning. Seeing it without the body kinda makes me want to build an MR2 drift cart now.
Also, I would buy a poster of the pic of the bug with both doors open. Kudos to the photographer.

Love the beetle, been thinking about something similar for years but with a Subaru but doubt it will ever happen. This is one of the coolest videos I have seen - absolutely love what you have done, must have been a hell of a lot of hard work and I admit it's way cooler than the WRX - better fit and you actually did it... hats off....

As far as making the car faster, as long as the motor is safe with the tune it has, learn to drive it before adding more power. Your future self, teammates, family and friends will all be happy you did.

That would be cool if you could buy this body as a kit to add to an MR2 body. That would be a fun project!
Great little recap but for people that wasn't here along the have not ideal the real challenge this was along the way. Day job,work in your shop ,and working on the Jeep and this. Your recap makes it look some what easy but it was far from that! You determination and times you may have felt like giving in but you never did.
Looks great and teaches that if you just keep at something no matter how long it takes can and will be a wonderful feeling. Yes things are going to go wrong and break but that's racing,hell that's live. I am loving seeing this but I'm sure not as much as you are racing it....

I know there's guys around that have been putting the Porsche engine supposedly it's a pretty easy swap but it's kind of common so to take an MR2 which Toyota's are amazing cars and two widen your body and all that is amazing great job buddy.

I don't think there is a single bug that's being driven today that is a "pure" bug. you do use the result looks amazing. and honestly I think honda purists would be madder.

Awesome. Don't about your project taking 2.5+ years, the guys at Bad Obsession Motorsport (Project Binky) took 8+ years to stuff all the mechanical & engine bits from a Toyota Celica GT4 into a Mini. Love to see you chop a land Rover 110 in half (front to back) and widen it be Humvee size. All the best for the future. A well earned 👍👍👍👍👍
