UPY# 729 The Metra Rescue Unit Seen Light & Also Pulling Coach On UPRR Chicago West Line

This is from Sunday April 28, 2024 I spotted Union Pacific Railroad's locomotive Y729 speeding west at Elmhurst. The tracks are the Chicago West Line and Metra runs their Metra UPRR Chicago West Line over these rails. After I spotted the Y729, I guessed that it was heading somewhere, between Elmhurst and Elburn, to pick up some sort of rolling stock. Four hours later, it returned, going east. This time it was pulling a Metra coach. I might see one of these "rescues" every few months. FYI- The first clip was from the north side of the tracks a few blocks from Elmhurst Station. A MOW crew had been near there doing thermite welding when this engine came through. Notice the signal tower as it is seen from both clip locations. The second clip was near Myrtle and Park. This is almost across from the old quarry and one of the quarry towers is seen in the background. This location once had a lumber yard on it.

Now UPY 711 and UPY 729 are servicing entire Metra trains out at the Ogilvie station May 14-15
