Hey Pokemon Champions, what's going on?! It's Champion Blaze here and back in December of 2023, we sadly said goodbye to one of the brightest and creative minds in the pokemon community: Bird Keeper Toby. He created stellar pokemon content and helped so many other creators and people in the community throughout his career. He redefined pokemon content, set a new standard for it and reshaped pokemon theories. He delivered next level content, brought pokemon to life and used his abundant energy and passion to create some of the best videos on RUclips.
Today we take the time to pay tribute to Toby and look back on how he's influenced and impacted so many of us in the Pokemon Community; what he's done for others, our favorite memories with him, our favorite videos from his channel and to just give Toby nothing but love as he moves onto new areas of his life as he leaves RUclips behind. This. . . is the Legacy of the Pokemon Master!

toby really did aspire to achieve a level of content above the rest, just being able to work with him myself and have the pleasure of being his friend showed me that more than ever
when he first posted in this community he certainly caused a stir because people weren’t doing what he was doing. i definitely saw him as the start of making this a more collaborative and healthier space for creators
i’m still hoping for his return after his leave, the community won’t be the same without him!

Its been a while since Ive felt apart of the pokemon community, but Toby has always been one of the biggest inspirations for a lot of my earlier content and really helped sparking a new love for pokemon content all the way back in 2018. I love how hes inspired so many awesome channels like yours Blaze 🔥

This reminds me of my own history of watching Toby. From when he and Lockstin theorized about Sun and Moon being the end of an era (it all comes together), to the fun Top 10’s, to the good theories (and bad ones that I left long comments on), to the fakemon, to the Master Dex, etc etc, Toby’s content was always a staple in my life ever since I found his channel in 2016.
It’s crazy that I got to not only be his moderator, but also help with a few videos in various different ways. (Dyslexia Support Squad, let’s go!) Hell, I _never_ would have thought I would meet any RUclipsr in-person, and then when I finally got the chance to meet one (Toby), _he_ was excited to see _me._ Absolutely nuts. (We had Korean BBQ in New York and it was such a good time.)
Toby, if you’re reading this, thank you. You’re awesome. Soar high, my friend.

Though i was more behind the scenes to post videos and the fact that I once worked in television broadcast news and some films myself i decided to post on RUclips and Rumble because Toby has a way of inspiring people yes it was mostly just gameplay but I'm glad I've been able to watch his videos for the past decade and though I have never met any poketubers I'm glad that i have had the opportunity to watch you all and since I've retired for now on uploading videos on RUclips and rumble myself thank you Toby for being a great friend to all of us.
Finally having finished the dlc from half a year ago, I went back to Toby's last videos that I had to skip for spoilers, and ending it with this video that he once tweeted out. Oh man, that gave me a big smile, and some tears at the very end. I've been watching him since 2016, I think it was about a year after his first video, and always watched his stuff since then. After 2018 my interest in pokemon and its community started to decline (read: I still liked it, but I wasn't as obsessed anymore). Right now I only really followed Toby anymore, and occasionally Luke when a new game or dlc comes around, so it feels like a bigger kind of ending to me personally as well. I can agree with all the things people in this video have said, his passion and quality were something else out there, and I really wanna thank him for that. I don't regret my times with pokemon and its community at all, having formed plenty of important friendships and even more along the way.

I been watching bro since i was a kid man. Even when i didnt really watch or play pokemon anymore, whenever i came across one of his videos i watched it and was reminded on how much i love the series and the world. Such a huge reason for my love for pokemon.

But you know what? I think it's great that we're acknowledging and celebrating someone while they're still alive. Time and time again, it's only after someone dies that we make a tribute to them to honor them. It's important for the people we care about to feel valued while they're still around
