    Thanks for the review; the detail looks stunning. Sam's Trains raised the issue of an underpowered motor, which had been putting me off (who wants a 9F which cannot haul heavy trains?!!) but your review seems to have laid this concern to rest.

    Great review and running session of your new 9F Peter. Although it is a fantastic re-tool by Hornby I am perfectly happy with my Bachmann Evening Star, the reason why is I am unemployed and I can't justify paying a high price for brand new releases. Stay safe and best regards Gary.

    Good review and running session. Looks a great model. Packaging is similar to my Dapol Manor class. Looks like Hornby is moving in the right direction. Thanks for showing. Regards Paul.

    An excellent overview and running session with this new 9f peter, the standards are definitely some of my favourite locomotives with my most recent purchase being the hornby TTS version of Duke of Gloucester although the sound has been removed
    This new 9f from hornby is definitely a brilliant model and I am tempted in getting one in the black livery as the only 9f that I currently own is an old tender driven evening star, the inclusion of crew is brilliant and should become standard for every manufacturer in my opinion, as someone who like to have crew in my own locomotives it becomes annoying having crew figures being expensive, an example for me is my KR models GT3 which I just painted up some sitting figures and glued them in.
    An excellent freight train made for the locomotive and a brilliant 50 wagon rake for the test at the end.

      Cheers David, thank you so much for the kind words. Agree, loco crews should be a standard thing now with manufacturers . Would save money

    The small indents on the smoke detectors are quite strange to me. Theyre something you have to have on a model, since its a result of the molding process, but I don't get why they didnt just mold the pieces from more towards the back, so any imperfections wouldnt be visible.

    Hi Peter
    I hope you are well?
    Is the title a stab at my review?
    For me it is the ultimate 9f
    It better than the old tooled 9f and way better than the Bachmann version.
    It a great runner and has some fantastic features
    Keep safe ARP

    wonder why your example has no trouble negotiating curves under load, the beautiful Evening Star on Sams trains was weak as a kitten, unacceptable and he should send it back for refund imo

    spot the wrong funnel

    • @lesbird2074
      @lesbird2074 Год назад +2

      Ships have funnels, locomotives have chimneys! Are you sure you sure it shouldn't have a double chimney?

    • @class47peter
      @class47peter  Год назад +3

      The chimney on this loco is correct as photos of this particular 9F show it to have a double chimney

  • @whitewallwheels1hardcore.m_o_h

    it has the wrong body shell and the motor is under powered - true 9f only has one funnel not 2

    • @class47peter
      @class47peter  Год назад +1

      Wrong bodyshell?
      Not sure about an underpowered motor either, thus as shown in the video managed 50 wagons. Could pull more i suspect if it weren't for uneven baseboards and Neville Grove showed a Hornby 9F managed a very long rake of wagons

      In fact the later builds, more than 60 examples, were outshopped with double chimneys and 92194 featured here was one of these locomotives.
