    Seeing that it’s maple you could stain it easily like with a walnut or darker wood stain.

      Thank you so much Randall! I appreciate your kind words! I just am not a fan of beating a knife as a test because I just don't do that in a wilderness setting. Light batoning is a technique for sure but some folks get carried aways I think lol! Thank you again sir! Take care.

    I recently got the BHK "Saltfork" with green micarta scales. It is a fantastic blade. Love it.

      I have looked at that one and it is definitely a solid design. BHK makes some great quality knives for sure. I believe they are a solid investment. Thank you for tuning in Larry!

      Thank you so much David! I appreciate the kind words. It is definitely a great knife but it is slightly limited in the fine carving area just based on size alone. The grind, fit and finish and overall quality in unquestionable from Battle Horse in my experience. Take care!

      Thank you Chris! It's a hoss. It's a great knife but I do find myself carrying a smaller knife most of the time. I do enjoy it very much when I am doing "heavy" work.

    Been looking at a lot of knives lately. Looling for that bigger knife to pair with 1 of my smaller knives. This 1 has really caught my eye. Great video bro!!

    Thats a beauty. Which do you prefer out of the highlander and the scout platoon and why?

    • @blackhatbushcraft
      @blackhatbushcraft  6 лет назад

      Thank you so much sir. That is a tough call honestly. I like the slightly thinner stock of the Scout but I like the blade profile of the Highlander. I think the best would be a Highlander in 5/32 stock. I have found over time that I am just not a huge fan of 3/16" thick blades. With that said, they are both very well executed and fine high quality knives. I have found myself using smaller, thinner (1/8") blades primarily these days. I have a video of the BHK Feather Stick Knife, that size knife is where I am these days:) I really appreciate your interest and if I can answer any other questions on it, just let me know.

    Nice knife, how thick is the blade?

    • @blackhatbushcraft
      @blackhatbushcraft  7 лет назад

      Thank you. It is 5/32 of an inch, 01 tool steel. It is a solid workhorse without being quite as heavy as the 3/16 of inch survival style blades. I tend to carry knives that are 1/8 of an inch which is in my mind the perfect balance of thickness for strength and utility without being overweighted or cumbersome. I appreciate you taking the time to watch!

      @blackhatbushcraft  7 лет назад

      Thank you so much for the sub Jay! I appreciate you tuning in! The bead is one I got from a multi pack of beads from a craft store. It is just a wooden bead. I have even purchased a pack from the Walmart craft section before that I used for different projects. I use those on all my lanyards. Thank you for watching my friend.
