HIT THE BELL & TELL A FRIEND ABOUT ME
All those people he's mentioning are Blues Legends and well worth exploring. Maybe start with Muddy Waters..
Mckinley Morganfield?! Love the guy! RIP Muddy
he had john lee hooker, willie dixon and others at that concert. I am so jealous of George :) lol
Definitely Muddy first, then John Lee.
Might to mention Robert Johnson
Albert King, Freddy King, BB King.!!!
Three Kings.
They are all blues singers. Check out John Lee Hooker's version. And Howlin' Wolf's Smokestack Lightning. And Otis Redding's Cigarettes and Coffee
You mean John Lee Hooker's multiple versions. Fast and slow versions.
@@matthewpackard1184 Yep, and a reggae one, although I can't remember who the artist's were. I a going internet search engine this
Howlin' Wolf is a Father of metal singing.
That metal tube is called a Slide, used for Slide Guitar. They most always either made of Metal or Glass.
All those guys he named, they are all old Black Blues Guitar Legends. I think this song is an old John Lee Hooker song.
All those guys are the OG originals. Rock took the blues and changed the beat, lyrics and attack, but the good old basic 12 bar blues is the root.
You should listen to George play this from the studio version too.
Coricedin bottle & a slide guitar
And Elvin Bishop is a blues legend too. He had them eating out of his hand when he was in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, his blues credentials are indisputable.
@@GonzGunner Saw him with Butterfield at the Fillmore in San Francisco, 1969. He killed it, I think he was maybe 18. He took a wild, three-chorus solo on one tune, absolutely flying, and one of the horn players had to pull him back before he started a fourth.
So those guys were Blues guitarists, and the cold thing is, when George would say a name, Elvin would play one of those Legend's licks. Crazy good stuff.
I Drink Alone is another good one from Thorogood.
Also Move it On Over
Move it on over was originally an old country tune by Hank Williams.
@@suicyco4life666 I knew George didn't take credit for it, didn't know who did it. Thanks, I'll look it up.
Drink alone and bad to the Bone!
@@suicyco4life666 Hank Williams wrote Move it on Over. He also had a hit with I saw the Light and I'm so Lonesome I could Cry.
@@UrbanNinja12011both are great in their own respect. Different feels, both satisfying.
George Thorogood and the Deleware Destroyers!!! Hell yeah! This guy is underrated in my opinion.
Dude is tha shit!!! 👌🏽
Most people forget “The Delaware Destroyers!”
Not among musicians
Those are all famous blues guitarists, and he played a lick in each one's style s George called them out. Incredible!
It’s a slide piece. It’s used on the steel guitar too.
He probably doesn’t know what a steel guitar is
It's a little different. A guitar slide slips over a finger (usually the pinky) while the slide used for lap steel and pedal steel guitar is a solid slide which is held in the hand instead of slipped on the finger.
It looks like Elvin was using a socket instead of a regular slide. The top had a square opening like a socket wrench
Best dive bar song ever written 💪❤️
Elvin wore his good overalls for this performance 👏 👌!
I'll bet you've heard a few of his songs... "Who do you love" was immortalized in Joe Dirt. And "Bad to the Bone" was in Mega Mind for one. It's bad to the bone. Lots of songs
I’m not kidding I always love your reactions. Thank you for brightening brightening my day.
All the greats of blues.
Check out Bad to the Bone, George
They are all major blues legends!
Blues before your time your history
That quick lesson from Elvin on the guitar gods was a gift from the heavens.
My metal head friends come over, I throw this album on. 🤣 wt??? is this???
Me: sometimes you just need a drink. 😂💜
They are GOATS of blues.
I was fortunate enough to see George Thorogood and the Destroyers open for the Pretenders...who then opened for U2 in Oakland, it was the Joshua Tree tour....awesome!
Studio recording of this and Bad to the bone made this group legends
It's truly a damn shame no one ever reacts to the studio version of this song lol
Audio sounds very clean, but kinda quiet
I know where you are coming from, and mostly agree, but Elvin Bishop! Elvin Bishop!
I love the studio version!! Especially the little riff after he says “and out the door I went”
Someone did ruclips.net/video/sCWYbp7jDRM/видео.html
This brings the energy of a live performance even if it is inferior to the studio version.
@@JimbarleyyI've been trying to play that riff for 20 years. 😆
The charisma he has is off the charts. So fun to watch live!
You shocked me a bit when you asked who George was listing off. I actually said, "Wow!" out loud when you said it.
Bluesmen all - and damn good ones, too.
Love George Thorogood 😅 Bad to the bone is a great song also I drink alone ❤ Thank you for jamming him 🦾 he's a living legend Soo funny, great songwriting, great guitarist, singer, Love your reaction and your show and you 🎧 Rock on and Rock hard 🎵✌️🤘📀💯
As others pointed out, he's listing off a bunch of blues legend and, at each name, Elvin plays a little snippet in the style of each artist mentioned.
And this was waaaay back 1985.
And it still holds up well.
I'm a Delaware girl about 10 yrs b4 George was doing his thing at the Ston Balloon in Newark, DE... Guess what .. it's George and the Delaware Destroyers.. Truly wish I had been old enough to see him back in the day in Newark DE
Those are all godfathers of blues
Naming the Blues Guitar singer 👍😎👌
BB Kong is quite frankly the king on the blues! Muddy Waters is the outlaw of the blues, and Johnny Lee Hooker might as well be the godfather of the blues! I could name blues players for a long time but all of them and many more shaped the face of blues rock and roll and R and B
“Bbbbbbbbbad bad to the bone” next please- 💙👍✌️
He's naming amazing Blues players and he's playing their known for licks on the guitar after he names them. Amazing!!!
that thing on his finger is a slide. Loved the reaction! fun one. Old school always fun lol. dig it
on finger slide used in blues guitarist alot some times neck of bottle used makes notes sound brighter and finger style combined a very good jam
Muddy Waters & Sam lightning Hopkins are LEGEND!
Awesome jam yeah, seen them live kick butt concert 🤘😆🤘🎸🎸🎤🥁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌😎👍
The pinky pipe is a slide. You'll notice the guitar sounds different when he uses it. It makes the sound resonate differently when the string is strummed.
I'm from Philly/Jersey. He is correct!!!!!!
They're all early Blues Legends who play guitar and are the heart and soul of what became rock and roll.
OMG ... This is gold, Elgin Bishop was a legend. What a great combo. This is road house music at it's best. George could ride the down beat riff as well as any.
They are having a goooood time! Lol
Saw him at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC. Small venue capacity 750. A real blast, and a perfect venue for this type of music.
You don't know BB. King? Gracious!
That thing on his finger is called a guitar slide. Also the guy playing the slide guitar is named Elvin Bishop and he had a big hit with a song called Fooled Around and Fell in Love.
The sound is clear but could be a little loader. I suggest bad to the bone next, awesome video bro.
Going to see him in concert next Monday 🙌
I had his first 3 records, vinyl, all great, no bad songs. This guy is amazing! He got me into the blues during a very bad time when disco was king. What a horrible thing to happen to music. The other band I found that saved me from disco was The Stray Cats. Another Great Band!
His band mates tonight , he is introducing his band ! 😍😍
Hellzapoppin'
That's George thorogood!! He doesn't need endorsements...he's giving endorsements...know that!
Way back in teh day, he was based out of Boston. I wish the blues scene was back here...
Blues Legends!!!
I haven't heard George in awhile. Dude thanks for this vid. Time to go back and listen to this band. *Last Call For Alcohol*
Yes you need to check out all the guys he mentioned.
The guys he is mentioning listening to on the juke box are all black blues legends. Some of the best music ever made. The foundation of rock n roll.
Stevie ray vaughn life without you live at the Capitol theater 1985 great blues GOAT .🤘🤘🤘💥💥💥👍❤👍❤🤘💥
Muddy Waters….Mannish Boy!! Start with that, love your work!!
A slide will now forever be known as a "pinkie pipe" \m/
George Thorogood pitched in the the Red Sox farm league and was considered a top prospect for the majors when he landed a record deal and became a rock star instead
Its called a steel slide . it takes talent to be able to play with the slide ! He did a fantastic job ! Fun song ! 😍😍
He would still the show everytime....gr8nezz
I was only a groupie once. It was with George Thorogood in 1977, maybe 1978. I don't remember that very well, but I remember his performance earlier that night. Awesome.
Love some George Thoroughly Good.
Forgotten today and under-rated back in the day. Thank God for the blues.
Wow, Elvon Bishop, that's awesome
Love seeing people enjoy all sorts of music
If you've heard "Ba ba bad to the Bone...thats George!! He's got many more great songs!!🎶🎶
That's a metal slide. Gives it that cryin' blues sound.
Elvin reppin Tulsa w/ 9/16th deep socket on the pinky.
the pinkie pipe is a slide, lots of blues artist use that to get that sound.
Elvin Bishop! Listen to Fool around and fell in Love.
George sure can jam.
Fun drinking song!
Pinky pipe is a steel slide Elvin is using, steel guitar players use them , Elvin is using it on an electric guitar, check out Elmore James
I just seen him in concert at Riverside Casino in Riverside Iowa back in 2019. Small venue, was a fantastic concert. Seen Melissa Etheridge at the same place the year before and seen REO Speedwagon in Dubuque Iowa in 2018, that was my favorite concert in recent years.
YESSS!!!
Check out "Bad to the Bone" by George!!
Awesome...Elvin Bishop with the slide is making the guitar talk. Saw George back in the day w the Destroyers. "Bad to the Bone", "I Drink Alone" "Who do You Love" are worth checkin out. LIVE is ALWAYS best
Seeing George three times
The thing on his finger is called a slide. Used in lots of blues. Watch the end of the missing song.
HELL yeah!! Love me some George!!!
The most fun you can have with a 6 point deep set 5/8 th socket.
They are playing big hollow bodies too super blues style
All Blues guys
That's Elvin Bishop. He has his own band , you should check him out. I always enjoyed his music.
Classic blues men. Oh my!
If you wanna know some more blues players listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn with Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign - In Session ... There is an entire 1 hour video if you just want to enjoy it in your own time.
He has a slide bar!---It's for the sound.
You can get one fitted at most hardware stores. What we do for 4yo guitar players.
The thing on his finger is steel peace that is used to slide up and down the neck .
Another big song of his is Bad to the bone🔥
You would die if you drank every time he says "One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer." I am an alcoholic in recovery. No drinks in 4 years as of the 17th of this month. Praise God! You never heard of slide guitar? Well you said you didn't know anything about guitar. The thing on the guy's finger is called a slide. It's a staple of blues music. But I like "Pinky Pipe," so now it has a new name. The people he's naming are all Blues Legends. You have to check them all out! Muddy Watters "I'm Your Hoochie Choochie Man" is the song he mentioned from Muddy Waters. Please react to that one. God bless you, my friend.
Have I heard this song? Yes, many times before. This song gets better during live performances. George Thorogood (and The Destroyers) illustrate the blues during their performances. I love the album version, but I enjoy the live performances much better.
theres a line in a Charlie Danials song " Elvin Bishop sipping on a bale of hay. he aint good looking but he sure can play "
Please play I'm going home by Ten Years After live at Woodstock 1969 amazing blues man Alvin Lee
When he mentioned miller beer, he also refered to the king of beer as top shelf... for the real good night lol
Fun rx
Elvin Bishop is playing slide guitar, and I’ve always called it a slide. My brother used an empty prescription bottle to play slide. Yeah, he’s naming the cream of the crop Blues artists.
He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play.
As a guitar player myself, i will bet you 10 to 1 that what your brother was using is an old glass Coriciden bottle.
@@suicyco4life666, gosh, I don’t remember. It could’ve been.
Very dope.
Listen to Thumberthumbs and Lightnin' Licks by the Brothers Johnson.
George is great. That show was likely from his "50 States in 50 Dates" tour which was exactly what it sounds like. He once described his music as "Cheeseburgers. But really good cheeseburgers." Works for me. Who doesn't like a great cheeseburger now and then?
You have to watch Cadillac records and it will all make sense. Damm good movie
