Great video, informative as always. Hopefully this will get some usage in PvE, I prefer Void Torrent compared to Halo, would love to see having Voidweaver to be used in raids with DA and Archon with VF in M+, would make the spec more dynamic I think.
If it's about a 10% increase over an entire fight of absorb shields, wouldn't that be only a 1% gain if there's an absorb shield about 10% of the fight (using the example you used at one point in the video and seemingly a more realistic scenario than 100% of the fight)? Would that still be a huge impact? Granted, I don't know the last two encounters of the coming tier yet, so maybe absorb shields are up most of the fight?
Simple terms yes. The big thing to keep in mind is those shield phases are critical to get through quickly so will make progression on the boss better with the increase in damage just in that window. The one on council also is a dps boost while active iirc
wouldn't this only be good with shields during Deathspeaker or execute phase because without that, shadow word death does like 0 damage even with that talent it wouldn't be more damage than like a mind blast, right?
I was on the beta just now (03.08.2024), took Mindbender and Voiderwraith together. In your vid it doesn't but on the beta Mindbender states that it replaces Voidwraith. I didn't check though if it makes Voidwraith a completely dead talent or if there is a modified behavior of Voidwraith. I think Mindbender just simply overwrites Voidwraith.
The tooltip is a bit confusing. Voidwraith takes precedence over all so Voidwraith > Mindbender > Shadowfiend. Taking Mindbender with Voidwraith simply changes its cooldown to be 1 minute instead of the baseline 2 minutes. The tooltip says that "Mindbender replaces Voidwraith" because it is just replacing Shadowfiend -> Voidwraith. Kind of confusing but basically anytime you take Voidwraith that is the pet you have.
@@Publikwow If voidwraith replaces mindbender, how does that interact with Inescapable Torment? Considering Voidwraith is a ranged pet, but IT reads "teleports behind your target, slashing up to 5 nearby enemies for x amount of damage" *fantastic vid btw
I find it weird that they put niche things like this in the game, then are effectively forced to find a handful of encounters to put absorb shields into, in order to justify adding things like this to the game. And presumably in higher-end content, they have to balance around people using the shield-busting talent. So it just becomes an artificial "you remembered to respec into this, right?"-check. Otherwise, if they don't put shields into any encounters, utility like this is pointless (except in PvP, I assume). But then why even bother putting it in the game? It's just weirdly circular... "we put shields in the encounters to make the shield-breaking talent we put in your talent tree useful" 🤷
Honestly I hate how voidweaver aren't optimal with void eruption, how was that not the first thing that comes to mind, make voidweaver work with void eruption
i was hyped about voidweaver when it came out and i saw the visuals and the nice burst dmg. For the first time shadow priest didn't have to ramp, but then they nerfed it back to back 3 weeks in a row to make ppl play the bs halo archon build and the ramp pain came back. So now i'm hyped about unsubing.
It seems like it will be good in M+ vs that one affix that has 1 hp and a huge absorb shield.
I didn’t mention that in the video because it seems like affixes are changing weekly but yes this would be a massive boost to that
If I use Psychic Scream, then ALL the adds instantly disappear. Wouldnt that be better?

This talent is going to be INSANE during Necrotic Wake last boss when you're having to break the shield on higher keys.

Dropping the priest I’ve played since shadowlands cause all three hero talents for priest are so uninteresting to me.
