I wish I’d watched your review before I spent a few days trying to “fix” the 3D issues. Is this something that could be resolved with a software update down the line (as the 3D itself was an update after release) or should I just, regretfully, give up on the 3D? You are the Buster Keaton of the tech review world. Keep up the good work.

Great & honest review as always Vincent. I’ve leapt (maybe before looking properly) and ordered the new vava chroma UST Projector. I am now wondering if I should have waited and just gone with this Xgimi? I’m coming from a Sony VPLHW40es which is great for movies and gaming but is only 1080p. Any advice on better choices would be amazing. Thanks

Dont buy this fancy projector...it is a bad Chinese design..i bought for the features which is never to be use in the first place, thing of it do we keep moving our TV every day or similarly do we move projector everyday. Once fixed a projector does not need any fiddling with its setting. So all that extra mechanics is just increasing entropy of the system. MINE BROKE DOWN IN JUST ONE YEAR.

The major problem I have with this project is the default angle. If I set it 1 meter off the ground it projects very high and I have to prop up the back and tilt it down so it isn't projecting on the ceiling. Is anyone else having this issue?

@@dshawnspjute6305 I can see that. It seems like a good projector at s decent price to me. Obviously with the limitations mentioned in the video.
But if the self focusing technology adds a lot to the price then I just meant i wouldn't pay for it. It would take 5 minutes to do manually once and save $500. I would have to be VERYY rich to pay a lot to save 5 minutes one time.
Unless you are a business or have a project /,use where you move between rooms /locations all the time then this would be ultra awesome

Terrible review as you failed to mention that this projector does not have a bulb replacement and is a useless paperweight after the 1 year warranty expires. Official response from XGIMI when I asked about replacing my bulb. "Hey, this is Georgina from XGIMI tech support department, it will be a pleasure to assist you today regarding your concern. We do not sell nor suggest changing the bulb on a XGIMI projector. We can gladly check if your device is still within our 1-year warranty and provide a replacement if applicable."

The internal audio is horrible. Even a small Bose mini speaker was miles away better. The screen auto calibration is really good though. I would recommend to have the space or distance exactly for the size of the screen or you will get a light halo around the screen and not use all the 4k resolution because zoom is all digital.

Its around 150 US the MSRP of an TI 0.47" DMD that are native FHD and getting XPR 4x to reach 4K..the 0.33" DMD TI is around 87 USD its 2x XPR to reach FHD
the DLP 0.66" is around 500 USD in MSRP from TI.. all in sub 100 quantaties.
TI does have a native DLP 4K chip DMD, but oly pro cinema valid, not average joe purchaseable.
the highest as I recall is 2500x1600..
Its a shame XGIMI does this lumens race, and pollutes their picture just to front high ANSI numbers... that green pollution on soem of their projectors is almost tragicomic how extreme is it.(unuseable) and Vincent is right, its more like cut these claims in half or with 1/3, before it looks good.

Been using it for about 6 weeks now (with a couple weeks in my Moms basement to show her why she needs to get a projector) and in many ways I’m more impressed by this than the LSP9T, v7050i, and L9G I’ve had over the past two months. We have it mounted above our bed with a roll up 70” screen at the end of our bed and we love it!

I know it's a lot of info for a RUclips comment but would you mind giving a brief comparison between this and the three models you mentioned? Heavily weighing my options between the four of them. Thanks!

    • @DustinFrancis
      @DustinFrancis 3 года назад +1

@@nSpiraliArchitectb So much “use case” and personal preference plays into it, which is why for example I like these types of reviews, as they are more about the “data” and if you know how what is talked about effects you, then you can sort of get a good idea and what you would think of using them yourself. With that said, the XGIMI doesn’t really fit in as well with the USTs I mentioned due to it not being a UST and also, it’s a more consumer projector and is market differently. The XGIMI is fantastic for a portable projector…we used it in our 145” outdoor screen for example and it’s wonderful for that, but does need it to be pretty dark. For the $1550 that it goes on sale for, it’s a fantastic option, but not for a dedicated theater room. There where I tested the L9G, v7050i, and LSP9T and I like them in that order. The LSP9T had too much laser speckle, too strong of a red laser for calibration and too much CA (probably because of that more extreme angle that image is projected.). The v7050i image is really nice and “cinematic” out of the box. I wished it were a little brighter and that the hardware and software was a little less “clunky.” The L9G I’ve had for a few weeks now and it basically is a refined LSP9T IMO, even with the smaller chip. I totally understand the compromises with USTs, so I had to pick the one that I thought was the best right now…I can’t fit a normal projector in my room or else’s I’d have a NZ8 on order. I was one of the first to back the Vava Chroma too, so I’ll see how that is, but that will be in my living room in my studio, so I’m not as concerned about that as the others that were tested in my dedicated theater room. L9G is MY recommendation, with the Horizon Pro and a fun little addition to a family to be used in all sorts of areas…it’s really great for an all-in-one.

4:10 you deliberately blurred the settings out so people have to pay for tuning the settings.

@Nexus Hexus: Our settings are specific to our screen and environment, which may make the picture worse for other users... that's why they are blurred.

Has anyone actually played games with this projector? Can you feel the input lag? I had experience with Xgimi Halo and I don't gaming was viable.

Input lag is quite low in game mode, but it doesn't offer to adjust color/brightness settings, while sharpness (or whatever it is) is too high. It really lacks adjustable picture settings in game mode.

When consumer projectors will start to do global shutter, it may be worthwhile, but right now they are just more expensive TV's with worse motion resolution.

I have no such issues with my JVC projector. I love it. I don't use it for gaming, though.

Any ideas how to make room switching less annoying due to the fat powersupply-adapter? I switch rooms a lot to firm wall mounts and I wish I could firmly install/mount cables/power supply as well.. However I cant find separate power bricks to buy? Or what do I have to look for? Any 220 watt bricks?
