In response to my criticism of the lack of Choke groups, and performance fx - Donner says they’re planning to add these features and other improvements in future firmware updates. I'll update this comment if / when that update drops!
Given the ongoing fiasco of the Donner Medo kickstarter and the inability of Donner support to respond to basic queries after months I'd recommend people are wary about purchasing from Donner.
I like where Donner is headed. The TB-303 was a budget machine when it came out. No idea what kind of hardware is inside this, but if it's reasonably powerful, they should be able to give it many more features, yet to come. Potentially making it far more impressive. It's never going to hold a candle to my 1010m BB, but it's price isn't making those kind of promises.
Already ordered one (to pair with my B-1 of course!) but i dunno why Donner insists on "affordable" tagline. The price of the unit is dangerously close to iconic KO2 and there's no question who will win this battle. In Eastern Europe where i live it goes for 150 (that's what i paid today). Don't get me wrong i love Donner to death and their B-1 is an instant classic (recently bought the second one coz it's a gem), but their pricing strategy is weird. Dudes from Donner if ya reading this i love you guys, your products is special and i hope you will prosper.
...and non destructive erasing! This is just MADE for live work, I am a professional didgeridoo player that uses live loop sampling and I'm in the middle of upgrading my setup. If this can synch up to my Boss RC-5 that will be the decider.
OMG this is effin brilliant! Just what I need for my live stuff. Only problem is that I'm colour blind and at least two of the colours that light up look the same to me. Damn!! I might just get one anyway, it'd be rude not to. Thumbs up/subbed.
First off, I really like the Donner D1. Its fun to play. HOWEVER it frequently crashes doing very mundane basic things. Trying to adjust the decay of your bass drum? It might just crash and leave you having to turn it on and off again. EVEN WORSE the App for it is horrible. It doesn't always register that you've tried to drag and drop a sample in, so sometimes I have to drag the same file half a dozen times before it registers. Even worse the SMP directory just stopped working one day. I could no longer add new Samples to the SMP1-SMP4. After a week it began to let me add new samples, but I could not see existing ones, and so I cannot remove them. Also one of my samples randomly corrupted after working fine for several days. Also you need to learn a very specific, weird way, to hit the drum pads in sequencer mode. In live play the drug pads work great. In sequencer mode, I have to find a jaunty angle to hit each pad at, to get it to register. There is a lot that needs fixing. Which is sad, because this is a fun machine, when it works. It really sucks not to have distortion on anything but the bass drum, that is kind of unforgivable IMHO
Thanks for your kind word! I'm afraid USB Power is not support. Currently we are evaluating the possibility of implementing USB Audio in further firmware updates.
Actually cool as most drum machines only come with one kit like the Roland classics so this thing sounds sick ...dude seid it's sample based so does it actually sample ?
I'd say get the EP-133 if you want a "beginner" box. It's not perfect but it has far more functionality and features than this. They cost the same too!

I had a terrible experience with a donner guitar pedal, but this looks pretty well done. I smell an audiopilz bad gear episode coming soon

Uh oh, what's happening with the medo if you could fill me in, please? I was considering getting one just for fun, but rather be safe than sorry
@@vladventura1928have you heard anything? I have one in my cart right now and I’m wondering if I should hold off a while
Any suggestions for budget alternatives that do have the missing features?

Yeah it's always nice to see new players on the market. Donner seems to get more and more into original units rather than copies.

This along with the b1 could make some interesting acid
Totally!
Ive been looking forward to seeing what they would do after the b1 and this is a welcome surprise!

The filter sounds really good on this

This unit and the Korg Sample 2 each seem to have features the other one is missing.

pretty cool for 300 bucks. does it power over usb? audio over usb?

It's sample based, not a sampler. You can load any samples into it.
Can you sidechain?
I hope they add it!
@@Taetro Request received, we will figure it out ;)
oh interesting!!! thanks for video!
👏👏👏👏👏
Hm, wait. So this looks like a ROMpler, which makes it AKAI XR20 on steroids maybe? The pads look so similar too...
Not quite, you’re not chromatically playing the samples. It’s a sample based drum machine
@@Taetro okay but from the quick look I took to the Donner website, it does not look like you can load your own samples or you can?
I promise any questions you have are answered in this video!
Nice I thought it was a controller

Or novation circuit rhythm as it almost perfect for that price
