I just got a MRI bone scan today. Hoping this will help my doctors give me a plan for healing. Lucky to live in Canada with universal healthcare. My wait time was 5 days for test.
I started feeling a pain there, though nothing of it and played a soccer game. It’s now 3 am and I can’t sleep because it hurts so bad. I’m seeing the doctor on Monday.
I’ve had this exact pain for 3 weeks, fluid build up on top of the foot, with numbness. I don’t have a bunion, just missed the bottom step and landed hard. X-Ray is negative and insurance won’t cover an MRI. I truly can’t walk, the pain and burning is horrible, I’m 58, any suggestions?
I would look for a second opinion about your foot. It sounds like a pretty serious problem. I was just diagnosed recently and I did not have as serious symptoms as you are having. Take care of yourself
@@johnewilliams7800 Wow that was a year ago. As it turns out a fracture doesn’t always show on the first x-ray, but I broke a bone. In two places and healed pretty quick.
3 months with mine. I saw another video saying that a 5th metatarsal avulsion fracture and a partial plantar tear like I have can take a year to heal, especially if you aren't offloading enough. 😢😢
I had this same injury. My general practitioner said Initial ray showed nothing. So on I went for six weeks with no boot or anything. The pain was horrible. I ended up walking on the heel of that foot for 2 months. Finally after 3 months with no improvement I went to orthopedic.... he knew immediately by my pics of my swollen foot what the problem was .... took an X-ray and then we could see the stress fracture
In the same boot as we speak. My doctor said I had a stress fracture on left foot. Sent me home with nothing but said to ice foot for 10min a day. I'm a mail carrier and I've been struggling. Been trying to get a restriction in the meantime. 🙄
I just broke my right foot for the 3rd time(1st in this spot, the front of the foot), & both times previous(all 3 are stress fractures from running-I have flat feet & bad bunions) I walked the entire recovery time (work on my feet)& I don’t think it slowed my recovery at all. As long as I don’t run/jump/ etc, mine have always heeled just fine(so far). So, take that as you will. Also, I hate walking boots, have barely worn them. I’m sure I’m a doctor’s worst nightmare, giving such bad advice, but I’m just telling you from(lots of)experience. & P.S., for anyone who runs/works out but now can’t due to a stress fracture, I recommend the elliptical machine. I just got done doing it in fact, & it puts zero stress in your foot. A health professional might tell you otherwise, but trust me. It’s kept me from getting out of shape every time(even gotten me in better shape the 1st time).
QUESTION: Could the EXTREME deviation of all the Metatarsals (CAUSED FROM A SEVERE DEVIATED BUNION) cause enough stress to cause a metatarsal fracture? Perhaps a stress fracture to the 3’rd or 4’th Metatarsal? Thanks
Thank you. Explained things well and I now understand why I have a stress fracture.
It would be nice to have a link to the site for the type of pad he is suggesting here. I've not seen any foot orthotics with a metatarsal cut out.

We are glad that you found the video useful.
what medicine to take for healing stressfructure
I have been taking anti-inflammatories like Advil, and natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric and MGM.
I am 5 months into my 5th Metartasal Stress Fracture and it hasn't gotten any better
Mine took 9 months to heal, but it still hurts sometimes if I walk than normal.
Oh no, I’m in my third week! 😢

@@unknown9288Did you wear a cast or walking boot? And if so, for how long?

If this is my problem, who is going to pay my bills for 4 to 6 weeks? Guess I will work through the pain until my foot falls off.
what did you do? how many weeks rest did you take? I'm going through this right now and i'm on week one of rest

I have broken my 5th metatarsal 21 days ago .I have swelling problem if I hang my leg .Is it a bad sign ? What should I do ?
Do not load weight on your foot and you will heal ok. Use a boot removable cast to help you immobilize your foot.
I think I have this I have a bunion just like this. And my second toe is killing me!!
