Fun fact: The submachine gun doesn't damage Eileen on All-Weapons Mode. Also, the submachine-gun won't actually effect how fast Eileen walks towards the death pit at the end (even though she'll look possessed). One more thing, if you unequip the submachine Gun, the possession it did to Eileen will be reversed.

@@ShinMegamiTensei1 depends on your patience level. Paper cutting knife for those who don't mind gating enemies and whittling them down. Rusty axe for those who just wanna chop 'em in half. Personally my fave's the pickaxe of despair. It's clunky, but I like clunky. It's usually unnecessary. However c'mon, it's a pickaxe with "despair" written on it. How am I not using it? Wine bottle's my early game pick. Doesn't take much to smash it, and once smashed it's got a deceptively nice range and attack power until you get to better weapons. I like the spade too, it just gets outclassed unfortunately-quickly.

They're the same of strong, but they have different Rng.
Pickaxe of despair is very strong, but is very slow, that weapon its bad.

Wow, chainsaw in this game is just sad. SH4 always felt to me rushed, but I have soft spot for it.

@@Torthrodhel Take it from me, SH4 is rotten and I can't understand the people who defend it. The second half of the game is a testament to my point.
The 2nd half of the game is the better half of the game.
@@DavidVanPatten358 I like it and I'll very happily watch a playthrough (even if I'm not keen to actually replay it unlike with the first three). I still think it's head and shoulders above the subsequent efforts just in terms of the atmosphere and feeling put into it.
But the game mechanics are awful and the decision to make the 2nd half an escort retread was also awful (especially if you're not going to have time to actually balance the escort functionality, which they absolutely didn't), regardless of whether or not it's the preferable half... it being a repeating half at all is the problem there. I was so disappointed first time I played. SH3 despite being my overall favourite had left me a bit starved of outside street segments and that sense of map joining the first two did so well. After watching the bit of the game intro vid where the camera approaches the apartment building and realising you were being jumped through several areas getting presumably closer and closer to Silent Hill proper, I was looking forward to the game making me physically walk back in a way that'd join all the areas up with satisfying connection. When that hope was dashed with a simple spiral staircase, it mattered little how pretty that area was. My own fault for imagining forward I know, but gah... it would've been so much cooler.
However, the harshness of destroying what the game has built up as the one sanctuary you can rely on halfway through? I think that's rather gutsy and works really well. The characters grew on me a lot and some of the areas and lore are neat.
It's a very imperfect odd duck with a lot to love and a lot not to love. I certainly will be one of those people defending it. I'd still nevertheless much rather be playing the first three.

I beated it on normal in 1:29:49 without saves no continues and collected all 52 memos and the escape text is red but I didn't get any of the awards tho is their something did I did wrong.
You didn't even get the chainsaw? Either way if you want the good stuff you should play on hard mode. You should have gotten the submachine gun on Brand New Fear if you got the orange-red ending text.

I can't remember my ranking on one weapon mode but I do know that I beat it on normal and got nothing and then beat it again on hard (using chainsaw) and got all weapon mode. Out of the original four SHs the reward for 10 star ranking in this game was the most bs slap in the face tbh. Nevertheless I persevered
You say you got All weapons mode by beating One Weapon mode on hard? That's interesting, maybe more testing needs to be done. I would argue SH3 had worse 10 star unlockables, but it would've been cool if SH4 gave us another weapon or something.
@@RuminInLove Now that you mention it SH3 did have bad rewards. So I read that the flamethrower was suppose to be more powerful but I did not notice a difference. The beam saber blade is noticeably longer by maybe a foot but that reach does not really make a difference. And the golden rooster shirt can be obtained by using a code already. And I agree, another weapon would have been nice. Maybe something for Henry that is even with the green hyperspray and green hyperblaster but maybe as a melee since Henry is great at melee attacks

The fastest way to defeat Walter is with the pickaxe. Watch any speedrun or part 12 if my walkthrough and it'll be there. And sorry you missed a memo lol.

Nah the chainsaw is disappointing!... or the sniffer dogs have titanium innards which I mean could also be true. They do have their lil' slush puppie slurper straw tongues so why not put some metal organs in there too

The video may be in 60 fps, but the game isn't. I never use framerate mods in any of the games I play. Heck, I don't even use widescreen mods anymore.

Hi, to get Submachine Gun for Eileen, do we have to get a precise 9-star rank? I mean, even if we get a 9.1-star rank, do we lose the chance to get it? Also, what happens if we get a rank inferior to 10 stars during one of those Weapon modes? For example, let's say we're in All Weapons Mode and got a 9.9 or lower rank at the end of the game, do we lose access to this mode or does it stay just like before?
You don't need to get a 9-star rank on the nose, you can get the submachine gun anywhere between 9-10.2 stars. Also, you don't lose any unlockables unless you deliberately delete or save over your brand-new fear file.
So if you get a bad rank on All-Weapons mode, you will still keep all weapons mode if you don't save over the Brand-New Fear file you got it on.
I think you keep the rewards if you get a lower rank anyway, but it's best to play it safe and keep your Brand-New Fear files. That's also how it works in Silent Hill 1-3 aswell.
Thanks for the answer, actually, I got a rank higher than 9 stars and playing on One Weapon Mode right now but couldn't receive the Submachine gun. I know it's hard to believe but that's what happened. Is this because it's One Weapon Mode that I'm playing right now?

@@ramfb3734 If you want to play Silent Hill 3 widescreen on PC, then you need mods. The GOG version of Silent Hill 4 can be widescreen without mods.
