I've been studying Chinese for some years now and have been studying from Elementary Chinese Reader and now I'm retired intend to try to study all of the books as I have a lot of time now 🙂I did like the piece you had written in Han zi at 3:08 and was able to read and thought the red highlights of the words was very helpful you have clearly learnt a good deal congratulations . For example the first sentence says "I have studied Chinese language for two years ", "le" makes it in the past tense or means you have completed the action . Second sentence reads "2020 year 10th month 18th day ", I must have learnt to read more than I realised . Thanks for the opportunity to practice translating this . Best wishes from England .
I've never been happy with iTalki tutors unless it's for free conversation practice (not for Chinese for other languages). How do you utilize your teachers? Do they speak Chinese the whole lesson or mostly English or? How often do you meet? I think iTalki tutors are very reasonably priced but it still adds up. I think for beginner/upper beginner I would really really want to take a group class like at a school if at all possible but often it's not for adults.
@@paulwalther5237 I only meet with my tutor once every 3 months or so, but will probably do so more now that I’m in the 3rd textbook and grammar is getting tougher. We chat in Chinese for 5-10 minutes, then I show her small essays I had to write for my integrated Chinese workbook and she corrects my writing. I basically save all my questions for things I can’t figure out on my own for her. I think since I’ve studied other languages, I’m able to teach myself from a textbook easily enough until I get to a higher level. Hope this helps!
It took me around 2 years just because I stopped for a while and then picked it back up. I’d say one year or less is how much time it would take if you didn’t take any breaks : )
