Literally though, and they named a planet, chemical element, flower, an asteroid, and a company called Mercury Insurance after Freddie. They even labeled Freddie as the messenger of the God's! Did you know that a new species of frog was found in 2013 near where Freddie attended boarding school and it was named Mercurana Myristicapalustris in his honor? That same year they discovered a new species of damselfly in Brazil and was dubbed Herteragrion freddiemercuryi. And the military used the word Roger for confirmation after Roger. Not only that, but they made a company called "Taylor" after Roger! Also, someone invented a job you could become and named it "tailor", they just changed the way his last name is spelt though to make it seem less obvious. They even made a verb called "tailor," and again changing the way its spelt to make it seem less obvious. Taylor Swifts parents loved Roger so much that they named her Taylor, after him! Plus, Mojang loved John Deacon so much that they put a block dedicated to Deacon himself and called it the "Beacon" but they just changed the D to a B in their game Minecraft. Elizabeth gave herself a job titled Queen, and as far as I'm concerned, the name "Queen"'s origins come from Queen, the band. Therefore, Queen inspired her to call herself "Queen Elizabeth"

Es muy injusta esa cantidad de reproducciones, pero como se conoce que los dos primeros albumnes de la banda pasaron desapercibidos, empezarom a vender a partir de mediados y finales del 74. En esta canción sonaban como tenían que sonar
No doubt they were always great. Roger on the drums going 50 miles an hour or more, Brian making his guitar sing, John on the bass bringing it in, and Freddie being "Freddie Awesome" as usual. Queen, The Magnificent Four! Legends.
"Keep Yourself Alive" is absolutely one of the GREATEST songs by Queen. Roger's drum solo along with John & Brian's speaking parts are the highlights of this gem of a song!!!👸🏾👍🏾😜
Roger Taylor sang: “Do you think you’re better every day” Brian May sang: “No, I just think I’m two steps nearer to my grave” I don’t think John Deacon sang.
They were truly a genius band. Listen how Brian incorporated the blue grass sound in this rock song. Again they were truly amazing. This is a listener still loving queen in 2024 and forever
While I LOVE Queen and don't disagree he is very talented, I don't think he should be counted as the best ever, though he should be up with the top players, in my opinion, Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton probably deserve that title.
One of my favourites videos of Roger. He was so young when he did his solo. He was so fast, so accurate and very good. Still he is. But here, on his 24...I just stayed with my mouth very open... Love Roger!! 🌟♥️
I want to give him credits for playing the double bass drum in I Want it All, somehow I feel people don't talk about that enough. The ability to use them, tells something. And that is the only song they used it, if I'm correct. Roger definetely was, and is, a very fast drummer. You can't but stare in awe, except I might stare at him due to other reasons too 😂
Take off I was told a million times Of all the troubles in my way Mind you grow a little wiser Little better every day But if I crossed a million rivers And I rode a million miles Then I'd still be where I started Bread and butter for a smile Well I sold a million mirrors In a shopping alley way But I never saw my face In any window any day Now they say your folks are telling you Be a super star But I tell you just be satisfied Stay right where you are Keep yourself alive yeah Keep yourself alive Ooh, it'll take you all your time and money Honey you'll survive Well I've loved a million women In a belladonic haze And I ate a million dinners Brought to me on silver trays Give me everything I need To feed my body and my soul And I'll grow a little bigger Maybe that can be my goal I was told a million times Of all the people in my way How I had to keep on trying And get better every day But if I crossed a million rivers And I rode a million miles Then I'd still be where I started Same as when I started Keep yourself alive, come on Keep yourself alive Ooh, it'll take you all your time and money honey You'll survive - shake Ow Keep yourself alive, wow Keep yourself alive Oh, it'll take you all your time and money To keep me satisfied Do you think you're better every day? 14th December 1973 - Hammersmith Odeon - Queen opened for Mott. Played this twice as Mott weren't ready to come on. Bought the album a week later, still have it & the A4 on every seat advertising this new and up and coming band hahaha
I'm a conservative Christian. This song helped me immensely when I was going through heroin withdrawals. I will forever defend Freddie 'till the day I die and I meet him in heaven. ROCK ON.
Lot of conservative Christians withdrawing from heroin?? IDK just seems like quite the oxymoron... you know he was gay and all that, and um, body a temple, etc etc... just wondering how you square all that
Em Vambell, temptations, pet sins, favorite vices...it's the struggle of many a Christian. The spirit is willing, but...you know, etc, etc. What separates us is that it's a conscious struggle, and we recognize it's something we "ought" to overcome.
Before Bohemian Rhapsody, this was one of Queen’s most underrated songs. Thanks to Bohemian Rhapsody, this is becoming one of Queen’s most popular songs.
It is so awesome that in the movie they used the songs people don't know so well. I didn't and I was instantly HOOKED after the movie, like this and Fat Bottomed Girls.
Yes, I like this period of Freddie and the band the most. Freddie had more serious stage intensity during this period; he looked every inch the rock star !
This is where he got me to have a crush on him. Later I was just in shock with all his changes. I like them all. He was always good looking. Even his final video as sick as he was, he had beautiful eyes, his mouth and could grin. It was horrid that they had to hound him about a disease that was a death sentence. People did not even want to shake the hand of someone who had AIDS. He was being protective of his devoutly religious family.
I know me too...how i wish i could find one similar too it, there's a video of Liar where Brian is wearing it and the sleeves look shorter on him... x3
Most of Freddie's clothes were bought in Kennsington Market during this period. Freddie & Roger. worked on a stall there. They were mostly women's clothes hence the sizing. Another favourite shop was Biba just up the road.
+711honved I did knew about them working at that place because of Mary Austin, i did not know about Biba, well i have heard of it, but didn't know they were fan of it, thanks for the feedback....C:
***** I know, i adore vintage fashion, but the 70's my weakness, is a mix of the 60's and 80's (if that makes sense somehow) i think they began to work with her after they realesed their first three albums, but in their early years, like this video, as you know when they still didn't pay them well, Mercury and Roger they used to work at a small female clothing boutique that was close to another infamous one named Biba i think....where Mary used to work there so they used to borrow and sometimes buy clothes in their own store too, and i swear i think they looked androgenously gorgeous....😍✨
Having a just suffered a bereavement my mother and I could listen to very few songs together as she hated my music, Rancid, The Clash etc, but this is one band we could both listen to together. Having lost her very recently this is my tribute to her as I know Bohemian Rhapsody would just leave me to shed more tears. Incidentally this was the very first Queen song I ever heard. I was about 9. I went back to this older boy's bedroom, it was much safer then, and he played me this album and from that moment I collected every Queen album and based my drumming style on Roger Taylor although in the long run it became more John Bonham from listening to too much Led Zep. Great song and regardless of the music I listen to Freddie Mercury has the best vocal of anyone I have ever heard even now.
+Lauren DiGrazio Thank you that is very kind. I think it is the sort of thing one never really comes to terms with but yes I am fine. My mother was the one person I have never argued with so believe me that makes her a special person.
that was an amazing comment to read, usually people don't say anything like that on here. I feel for you, I could not imagine losing my mum and I think that Queen is an amazing band to lose yourself in when you have to cope with these things
S2Kjeffrey She was older so no surprise she hated punk though she did like a few Green Day and Ruby Soho by Rancid. Punk has been my life but still enjoy Queen but started off playing along to Roger Taylor before moving onto more proficient musicians. Roger is good and solid but not top tier. Freddie was top tier. Queen are a good starter band for those wanting to join a band as apart from the vocals not too challenging so confidence building. I have good memories.
With ibex 69 first gig freddie had stage fright and sang with his back to the audience till he felt confident ! His stand broke with ibex so he kept it as a gimmick with queen His singing wasnt good with ibex who he re named wreckage (He rang them up saying their fine with the name wreckage are you ok with it?thry agreed individually because they thought the others had!the next time they met up hed re stenciled their equipment wreckage!) He was pitchy Wreckage and smile ended up performing at the same place a couple of times Already friends Roger and brian hated the way he sang that's why they didnt offer him to be the lead singer (Freddie said in an interview,Tim left and they advertised for a singer, why I was right there right infront of them!) But he learnt through his short time with ibex And was fine with queen and just kept improving as he learnt (The guy from ibex said jokingly so what are you renaming them Queen! He said he was shocked but once he got over that he coped with him calling himself mercury,"a queen" was already slang for a flamboyant gay man) Before he was with them he kept critiquing them! Need to put on a performance, engage with the audience...
July 6th 1973, the day history was written by queen for the first time, the day it all really started out. The day I will tresure (even though I wasn't born yet)
+kyra♥ - Yes, that's the release date, it took a year to get it out there! I first knew of this as a B-side to The Show Must Go On single in 1991, just before Freddie died (what a message the two songs send out!)- This definitive version was recorded in 1972, along with some of the first album, the rest of which was recorded in 1971 - before I was born (guess what year that was from these facts :D)
Queen and Freddie Mercury are the only ones that I like to watch in concert...they're amazing! Freddie's onstage showmanship and his powerhouse vocals were always as good as, and sometimes better than, than on their records. I don't think there are many singers/groups that can do that, if any...
This song is one of Queen's greatest, I know that's a bold statement, considering their breathtaking back catalogue. I just wish the band would it live with Adam, with his amazing voice and stage presence it would introduce so many new fans to the band's early years.
The Drum solo of Roger was AMAZING! I love watching the moves of Deaky its Beautiful! The sound of the guitar is AMAZING!!! The voice of Freddie is the Greatest in the world! QUEEN stole my heart

Maybe it's not everyone's favorite.
damn Roger looks so beautiful
Rock's sexiest man!!!!! (Well, that's MY opinion, anyway.)
totally agree
definitely
Every one does here
I've always wondered why he looked like a woman.
One of the very best Guitar performances of Brian! He totally nailed this song
***** are you stalking me? lol what the fuck
In addition, this work was also composed by Brian, great guitarist and great songwriter.
Kimu the intro is amazing
No doubt they were always great. Roger on the drums going 50 miles an hour or more, Brian making his guitar sing, John on the bass bringing it in, and Freddie being "Freddie Awesome" as usual. Queen, The Magnificent Four! Legends.
"Keep Yourself Alive" is absolutely one of the GREATEST songs by Queen. Roger's drum solo along with John & Brian's speaking parts are the highlights of this gem of a song!!!👸🏾👍🏾😜
Roger Taylor sang: “Do you think you’re better every day”
Brian May sang: “No, I just think I’m two steps nearer to my grave”
I don’t think John Deacon sang.
Must agree with all the comments. An awesome song.
you're too funny!
They're all look so young 🌸
Yeppper.. they are all in their 20's!
Yep
Well, it was the 70s.

Queen for ever and ever ......🤩😍🥰😘

Young Roger can break my back like a glow stick any day.

This comment is the best!
i aspire to this level of dedication
*chokes on loving John Deacon juice*

2:21 best drumming solo in history of rock and roll
You obviously have never heard the late Neil Peart of Rush.
Honestly there are better drumming solos than this, also this one isn’t even Roger’s best drumming solo

Brian May is one of the best guitarists in the history of music!💛
While I LOVE Queen and don't disagree he is very talented, I don't think he should be counted as the best ever, though he should be up with the top players, in my opinion, Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton probably deserve that title.
Sorry darling...the best guitarist in history of everything...
No Jimi hendrix is my lord biatch
AND Neil Schon
I DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT BUT HE WAS DEFINITELY UNDERRATED AND NOT BAD.
Hella underrated. Amazing, catchy and an absolute masterpiece of a song. Definitely my second favorite
😊
One of my favourites videos of Roger. He was so young when he did his solo. He was so fast, so accurate and very good. Still he is. But here, on his 24...I just stayed with my mouth very open...
Love Roger!! 🌟♥️
I want to give him credits for playing the double bass drum in I Want it All, somehow I feel people don't talk about that enough. The ability to use them, tells something. And that is the only song they used it, if I'm correct. Roger definetely was, and is, a very fast drummer. You can't but stare in awe, except I might stare at him due to other reasons too 😂
Take off
I was told a million times
Of all the troubles in my way
Mind you grow a little wiser
Little better every day
But if I crossed a million rivers
And I rode a million miles
Then I'd still be where I started
Bread and butter for a smile
Well I sold a million mirrors
In a shopping alley way
But I never saw my face
In any window any day
Now they say your folks are telling you
Be a super star
But I tell you just be satisfied
Stay right where you are
Keep yourself alive yeah
Keep yourself alive
Ooh, it'll take you all your time and money
Honey you'll survive
Well I've loved a million women
In a belladonic haze
And I ate a million dinners
Brought to me on silver trays
Give me everything I need
To feed my body and my soul
And I'll grow a little bigger
Maybe that can be my goal
I was told a million times
Of all the people in my way
How I had to keep on trying
And get better every day
But if I crossed a million rivers
And I rode a million miles
Then I'd still be where I started
Same as when I started
Keep yourself alive, come on
Keep yourself alive
Ooh, it'll take you all your time and money honey
You'll survive - shake
Ow
Keep yourself alive, wow
Keep yourself alive
Oh, it'll take you all your time and money
To keep me satisfied
Do you think you're better every day?
No, I just think I'm two steps nearer to my grave
Keep yourself alive, c'mon
Keep yourself alive
Mm, you take your time and take more money
Keep yourself alive
Keep yourself alive
C'mon keep yourself alive
All you people keep yourself alive
Keep yourself alive
C'mon c'mon keep yourself alive
It'll take you all your time and a money
To keep me satisfied
Keep yourself alive
Keep yourself alive
All you people keep yourself alive
Take you all your time and money honey
You will survive
Keep you satisfied

It doesn't matter who you are or where you're from - Queen is for everyone.
I'm a conservative Christian. This song helped me immensely when I was going through heroin withdrawals. I will forever defend Freddie 'till the day I die and I meet him in heaven. ROCK ON.
+tiger2712 in a interview freddie said he'd rather go to hell because heavens too boring
+horrorgeek5 Was about to say that
horrorgeek5, if he said that, I'm sure hell get his wish. Did I miss an apostrophe?
Lot of conservative Christians withdrawing from heroin?? IDK just seems like quite the oxymoron... you know he was gay and all that, and um, body a temple, etc etc... just wondering how you square all that
Em Vambell, temptations, pet sins, favorite vices...it's the struggle of many a Christian. The spirit is willing, but...you know, etc, etc. What separates us is that it's a conscious struggle, and we recognize it's something we "ought" to overcome.
“Try to remember the lyrics Freddie”
-Brian May
People don't realize how much Queen dominated the music in the late 1970s.
Best opening to a track ever... a riff to die for....classic Queen...takes me back... 🤟
😃
Before Bohemian Rhapsody, this was one of Queen’s most underrated songs. Thanks to Bohemian Rhapsody, this is becoming one of Queen’s most popular songs.
It is so awesome that in the movie they used the songs people don't know so well. I didn't and I was instantly HOOKED after the movie, like this and Fat Bottomed Girls.
Never heard this song once before the movie. Can't believe this was their first song.
Not to people who were, like myself, teenagers in the 1970s. But it's great to hear younger generations loving the classics.
Freddie at his most Freddie 😊
+XSCOTAY X that freddie fucking rocks
Totally ah love tha way he works tha audiences
Yes, I like this period of Freddie and the band the most. Freddie had more serious stage intensity during this period; he looked every inch the rock star !
This is where he got me to have a crush on him. Later I was just in shock with all his changes. I like them all. He was always good looking. Even his final video as sick as he was, he had beautiful eyes, his mouth and could grin. It was horrid that they had to hound him about a disease that was a death sentence. People did not even want to shake the hand of someone who had AIDS. He was being protective of his devoutly religious family.

Freddie is so iconic they names a flower AND a planet after him 😮

Most of Freddie's clothes were bought in Kennsington Market during this period. Freddie & Roger. worked on a stall there. They were mostly women's clothes hence the sizing. Another favourite shop was Biba just up the road.
+711honved I did knew about them working at that place because of Mary Austin, i did not know about Biba, well i have heard of it, but didn't know they were fan of it, thanks for the feedback....C:
+Obvious Pseudonym It does....😊✨
***** I know, i adore vintage fashion, but the 70's my weakness, is a mix of the 60's and 80's (if that makes sense somehow) i think they began to work with her after they realesed their first three albums, but in their early years, like this video, as you know when they still didn't pay them well, Mercury and Roger they used to work at a small female clothing boutique that was close to another infamous one named Biba i think....where Mary used to work there so they used to borrow and sometimes buy clothes in their own store too, and i swear i think they looked androgenously gorgeous....😍✨

Sorry for your loss. Hope you are doing ok.
Your Mom was right to hate The Clash. Queen has a billion times more talent.
This version sounds incredible with headphones omg

この Freddie はずっと見ていられます❤️
This is how it all started...
With ibex 69 first gig freddie had stage fright and sang with his back to the audience till he felt confident !
His stand broke with ibex so he kept it as a gimmick with queen
His singing wasnt good with ibex who he re named wreckage
(He rang them up saying their fine with the name wreckage are you ok with it?thry agreed individually because they thought the others had!the next time they met up hed re stenciled their equipment wreckage!)
He was pitchy
Wreckage and smile ended up performing at the same place a couple of times
Already friends
Roger and brian hated the way he sang that's why they didnt offer him to be the lead singer
(Freddie said in an interview,Tim left and they advertised for a singer, why I was right there right infront of them!)
But he learnt through his short time with ibex
And was fine with queen and just kept improving as he learnt
(The guy from ibex said jokingly so what are you renaming them
Queen!
He said he was shocked but once he got over that he coped with him calling himself mercury,"a queen" was already slang for a flamboyant gay man)
Before he was with them he kept critiquing them! Need to put on a performance, engage with the audience...

Best frontman ever! Has you hooked from beginning to end.
Queen and Freddie Mercury are the only ones that I like to watch in concert...they're amazing! Freddie's onstage showmanship and his powerhouse vocals were always as good as, and sometimes better than, than on their records. I don't think there are many singers/groups that can do that, if any...
What a way to kickstart the Queen album and the whole queen journey
