Thanks for the review J.P. and mentioning that besides Strat's and Tele's, Fender used to build great acoustic guitar in the 60's and70's . The first steel string flattop guitar I bought in 1982 was a Fender dreadnaught (F-95). I took it off the wall at the local family owned music store and sat and played it for well over an hour. I then asked the clerk if I could use their phone and called my wife (of 3 months) to ask if I could buy it because it cost $500. She gave me the green light and I've enjoyed playing it from that day forward. I own many other higher end guitars than that but it always sounds and feels great when I play it.

Last summer I was in Vancouver and I bought my son , who is a beginner a Fender CD 60 Dread for 300 bucks with hard case. Made in Indonesia. Beautiful sunburst finish. I who have been playing for over six decades couldn't fault it. I was way back in the 1960's, FREDDIE MERCURY's school mate. St.Peter's High School, Panchgani, India.

Those PM-220E's are solid mahogany back and sides, solid spruce top, rosewood fretboard and bridge with a Maple bridgplate. Previous they made the same or close to same dreadnought called PM-1 (also PM-3 OM size and parlor versions also) with rosewood back and sides and ebony fretboard and bridge, the rosewood ones were the "PM-1 Rosewood Deluxe" . They also made two "PM-1 Limited Adirondack" editions. one model had mahogany b & s one with rosewood b&s, these had Adirondack tops and Adirondack braces. They all had Fishman electronics which has a built in tuner. These were quite good but they didn't put much into marketing them I have the 2 Limited Adirondack dreads and a deluxe Rosewood model. Regards the PM-220's there is also an all mahogany body model (includes mahogany top).

Awesome review. I have the Paramount Pe-220 and the Newporter Special and they are my go-to guitars. It's taken my Martin about 10+ years of aging and playing to sound as good as these have straight out of the box. Fender makes really nice acoustic guitars. If they said USA on them people's opinions would change but the price would be triple for the same guitar.

Alll Fender Paramount guitars are all-solid construction. There are Sitka, Adirondack and Mahogany top options and mahogany (sic) or Rosewood body options. Originally Parlor, 000, and Dread sizes followed by a OM travel size, & a small jumbo ( i believe). Very handsome guitars all have bound fretboards, back zipper inlay etc etc etc.... I see pros using/touring with them. I believe all have Fishman pickups standard too....

Pulled out my 1987 Fender Gemini III last week and noodled around. It's built like a tank despite the top being in three pieces. Neck hasn't moved at all. Zero belly bulge. It's heavy (likely from all the bondo binding the laminates). Has a very bright hollow like sound. Kept it in immaculate condition all these years being the original owner where I purchased it at a music store up in Edmonton's Whyte Ave. Didn't you used to have one of these JP?

I think there are a few mistakes in the description...first one is these are made in China, not Indonesia, second one is the Paramounts have bone saddle and nut (not micarta) and the bridge is ovangkol not ebony....except of these...i love your test.
I have two paramounts....the Dread in Nature and the Parlor in all mahogany...my only downside is the thick laquer of the nature and the sunburst version...the mahagony one is the complete opposite...feels naked.😅...no laquer on it. Got both here in Germany new for each 350€ (same as US $) stunning guitars for the prices.
    Beautiful and so well playable.
Thanks for your review of the Paramount. Maybe it will open up the eyes for all the Fender Acoustics Opponents.
PS: the price incl a decent hardshell-case... unbelievable!
Keep these gems next to my Epis Masterbilts (Exellente and Texan)
Edit: forgot they have ebony pins instead if plastic ones.

Update: Have it for about two weeks now. Sounded really tinny and the electronics had fallen of inside the body. Don't really care for the pickup right now (play mainly acoustic anyways) but the sounds has really (and I mean REALLY!) improved over the last two weeks. A full and big sound with great definition. If you can get your hands on one for a good price, don't hesitate. And give it some time to break in by playing it a lot.

At Guitar Center the PD-220E is $829.99 however if you setup an account you get a 10% discount so $82.99 off coming to $747 and I believe SamAsh has them for the same 10% off without needing an account and perhaps less at one of the stores they are closing down.
Myself I'm still playing the old Fender F35 I bought back around 1972 when they first came out. Believe I got the eighth one produced. I occasionally look for something better but even at $3,000 I haven't found that guitar yet. It had a defect needing a truss rod adjustment and fret leveling so I got it for only $65 which was a fraction of the list price at the time.
    Best!

I have a couple acoustic Fenders that I love to play, one is an Acoustasonic the other is a uke. And when I tried a Paramount Parlor at a local store I was quite impressed with it. Definitely a good valued instrument and, to be honest, one that I always see for a bargain price on Reverb (right now there’s a Dread in Excellent condition going for $399.95 with free shipping).
Now … I hate to be in the correcting business but … when you showed the label it said something like “Designed in California, Built in China.” And it must be said that China deserves credit for some amazing instruments: Bourgeois, Eastman, Breedlove, Gibson, and more. It is a country getting a lot of experience in building class guitars and no longer should a Chinese built instrument be reflexively given side eye.

It just has that sweetness in the sound and for what is worth mine has an awesome sounding pickup also, not just piezo, it's combined with a transducer like the K,&K under the bridge inside the guitar if you look... Yours should have similar pickup possible, but I noticed on your serial number that's made in 2021, they made some changes one some of their models lately...

Well, of course. Bouchers cost like $3000 minimum and most of his are in that $5000+ range. Fender Paramount are $830 at most. What can we really expect? A guitar can only punch up so far above its weight. I think an issue the Paramount runs into is that there are guitars that cost just a little bit more, like the Yamaha FG3 or some of the Alvarez joints around that price that punch above their weight as well, so it doesn't stand out as much. Plus, they have to compete with direct to consumer brands that also make their stuff in Indonesia, like Orangewood. And those aren't great, but they are way better at marketing and offer slightly more in terms of features due to the bigger margins of avoiding wholesale.

The Paramount series is all solid woods. Exclusively spruce or mahogany tops and mahogany back and sides except for some special runs. Perhaps he assumed that people who were watching this would already have been interested in it and known or would look at the product page if they became interested. I think if it were a paid product video or had the intention of necessarily sparking interest, a more complete take would be "paramount", but here, I can easily forgive it.
