***** you can actually drink it. Red Bull contains phosphoric acid, the acid changes the milk. Your stomach contains hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid is much more reactive than phosphoric acid. The same reaction you showed in your video happens in our stomach, so it's no problem with drinking it except the taste;) (sorry if my technical terminology isn't that good, I'm not a native speaker)
Chion von Steinheim I just wanna tell you that I am replying your comment (with modifications) in other comment threads to make people aware of the truth.Cheers!
***** I do that too, but with monster energy. I always drink a can of monster before a workout, then a glass of milk after (for the protein) and I feel fine.
This is what happens when you add any "acidic" or acid based substance to milk. Acidifying milk - lowering the pH - causes the milk to "unwind or unfold" in a process known as protein denaturing. The proteins in milk (like casein) are then able to separate and clump together where they were not able to before when "folded" into the whey (the watery part of the milk you also see when it separates). This separation is similar to what happens when you whip heavy cream for a long time. It separates the the butter part of the cream and the whey. That is why when you added the Redbull (acidic liquid) to milk eventually it looks like "buttermilk." This can happen with lemon juice, pineapple juice or any other fluid that has a more acidic pH level. (vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid) Tip: A handy substitute for buttermilk in recipes it to use 1 cup of milk +1 teaspoon vinegar (also an acid) instead of 1 cup of buttermilk.
Now that's a quality comment. Is that really what it looks like? It's not actually chunky like that, is it?! Sorry, I should try to hide my fascination with horse semen on public forums I suppose.
Vlad Rudeychuk Red Bull contains phosphoric acid, the acid that changes the milk. Hydrochloric acid (found in the stomach) is much more reactive and takes over. In other words, same thing happens in your stomach if you only drink milk.
You just separated the curd and the whey, that's all. I do something similar to make cheese. I heat up full fat milk and just when it starts to boil I add vinegar and the solid separates from the liquid which looks just like what you saw in this video. I then put it through a sieve to extract the solid and that's my cheese. I then shallow fry for a while and season it, it's delicious.
"Little Miss Muffet, Sat on a tuffet, Eating her curds and whey; Along came a spider, Who sat down beside her; And frightened Miss Muffet away." This is by far, the best explanation of the phenomena demonstrated in the vid.
So you fry it then refrigerate it just to make it a solid? How about preservatives? This makes me think cheese is horrible for digestion and not nutrient dense enough. Not to mention fried.
OriginalRipndip No, you don't have to refrigerate it. It's not solid as in hard. It's quite soft and squidgy, but it doesn't melt. I guess you can put it in the fridge if you want to eat it later, but as with anything it's best fresh. And yes, if the milk was hot enough, red bull + vinegar + milk = cheese. Although you only need either vinegar or Red Bull, not both. Anything acidic in fact, many people prefer to squeeze lemon drops into the hot milk to form the cheese. What you saw forming in the video is a cheese called "Paneer", they been making cheese like this in Southern Asia for millennia (just with vinegar or lemon juice instead of Red Bull, looks just the same though).
Any kind of acid will curdle milk... Try adding a spoonful of vinegar or lemon juice to milk -- you'll get the same curdling! It won't hurt you or your digestive system!
@@givegrace_00 Lol that's the whole reason I watched this video. Made the mistake of drinking a 16 oz can of redbull and followed it up with a McDonald's milkshake. Let me tell you, stomach wasn't happy.
Do you think the stomach is a bowl that holds food unchanged for some amount of time (apparently you believe it's about a day)? Anything that is safe to eat on its own can almost always be eaten with anything else that is safe to eat. You might not want to eat certain foods at the exact same time if they both cause stomach irritation, but food does not mix together in your stomach in the same way it does outside of it. Saliva and the process of chewing begins breaking down food before it even reaches the stomach, then stomach acid attacks it right away. It will be broken down into each separate part e.g. fats, sugars, vitamins, etc. and then passed into the small intestine where nutrients are absorbed. In addition, this process takes about 2 hours (or less) in an adult, so if you drink milk with breakfast, chances are your stomach is completely empty by lunch. So you won't get buttermilk if you drink milk and red bull in the same day, unless you literally drink them simultaneously (and it's probably safe, just unpleasant). I don't advise drinking Red Bull at all and it's not considered safe for young children, but drinking both in the same day poses no extra danger to an adult, especially if you separate them by a couple hours. Your body will get the same stuff as you would drinking them on different days. This is like the pop rocks and soda myth. Schools really need to require basic biology in the curriculum, this stuff is really important.
Very cool! If I need buttermilk to make biscuits, and I'm out, I put about a tablespoon of vinegar in 2 cups of milk, and it turns it into something really close to buttermilk. It works well in a pinch!
It rises above due the calcium components in milk. And if you drink it it will blow up your stomach eventually and create a black hole where aliens come out of and haunt your body.
+CrazyRussianHacker you can actually drink it. Red Bull contains phosphoric acid, the acid changes the milk. Your stomach contains hydrochloric acid. Lone Wolf Hydrochloric acid is much more reactive than citric acid (found in orange juice). The same reaction that is showed in the video happens in our stomach, so it's no problem with drinking it except the taste :P
When I worked at a dairy as a pasteurizer we also used to make orange juice, when id disconnect the lines after filling the silo the extra would fall on the floor in the silo hallway and did this exact same thing. Its the acids in redbull, the acid sanitizer I would spray from the hose to clean the milk that fell did the same thing too.
Samuel Littrell Hey, I could've described the smell and taste in great detail, but I didn't. :p I was merely giving people an example of what not to do when you've got an upset stomach. xD
***** you're so silly lol. but seriously is there any scientific data supporting your stance? Trying to determine whether or not dairy and meat should be removed from my diet
Large molecules in the cows milk is harder for the pancreas to break it down and if you don't drink full cream..then your pancreas is working even harder. Never give babies cows milk..it will assist them in getting diabetes. Aspartame in 'no sugar' drinks is never good. Poison. Love your body and research what you are putting into it. It is all on google if you u ask the 'right' questions. Goats milk is far more better for you.
i learned this the hard way, after eating a dairy queen blizzard before class i decided to drink a red bull to help keep me awake, couldnt really go to the bathroom as i didnt want t miss anything but that had to be some of the worst gas pains i ever had

The acid in the Redbull is probably separating the fat from the water in the milk.
+Mark Garcia Most likely...Plus the sugar in the Red Bull is making it congeal as well probably.
+Q most likely.
+Mark Garcia the acid from the red bull is coagulating the protein and calcium in the milk, separating it which is why you see the clumps
+Karkat Vantas It's less buttermilk and more cottage cheese, it probably tastes pretty ok, all things considered.

Elaine Marie that rhyme makes no sense but why not just eat cheese instead of making it. Red bull + vinegar + milk probably doesnt = cheese

Lol he wasn't sure about talking about "Toliet Problems"
red Bull is an acidic drink (mainly carbonic acid from the carbonated soda water), and the acid will attach to the casein in milk forming a salt. This alters the tertiary structure of the casein causing it to drop out of suspension and agglomerate into the curdled mass you see floating on top
Soon funny!!!! We should try it ourselves !!! :-D
That should be a challenge milk and red bull challenge
Haha how cool! Love your channel!
The Red Bull's acidic components bonds to the proteins in the milk, which is the curdled milk that forms on the top.
For some reason I thought it was going to turn into some kind Of milkshake lol
