I like Lindsey. He was or is a great singer, songwriter and guitar player. He was an asset in the band Fleetwood Mac. No one could replace him.
nobody except bob welch.
I agree 100%
Much as I love and respect Lindsay, the Bob Welch era was my favourite Fleetwood Mac era.
I do agree
Like to spend a Day talking to Lindsey
An asset lol? He was Fleetwood Mac!
Lindsey Buckingham has always been criminally underrated.
One of THE most brilliant guitar players I've ever seen live, and I've seen a lot.
Amen.......That soloing on Frozen Love
yes, with the general public, but not by the great guitarists. Same with Alex Lifeson of Rush.
@@johnjeffreys6440 agreed
@@johnjeffreys6440Amen! Two greats, often overlooked-Buckingham and Lifeson.
WoW! Lindsey has really matured, he's so eloquent and calm. And of course he's always been a great artist!
I really love these Dan Rather interviews. He’s so well spoken, thoughtful and not rushed… which is so rare these days.
Funny seeing you here!
In the interviews I've seen, Lindsey has always been unbelievably gracious toward, and respectful of, his former FM bandmates. He's never been bitter, unlike Stevie.
She can also never tell the story the same twice
Stevie seems still unable to let go of their former relationship and break up. She will talk about it as if she's still processing events of nearly 50 years ago. Lindsey has clearly moved on and can clearly express himself
Learn from Lindsey - the best revenge is moving on and living well.
@@chookfeathershe’s always contradicting herself. But she said “I never lie in my songs”, lol.
I think he had many years of therapy to improve his character and temperament.
Lindsey Buckingham is quite literally a genius. And he has never gotten the recognition that he so aptly deserves.
I can't argue with that. That's undeniably a STRONG argument. I actually laugh when I think about how ONE person could have possibly changed the direction of this group. Profoundly mind boggling.
Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits too.
Wonderful old-school journalism: ask simple but poignant open-ended questions - and then just listen! Listen to what Dan gets people to say. Young journalists should learn from this master.
the key part: Listen! So many journalists just talk over or interrupt mid-sentence/thought. I think of Howard Stern (among many others) that will never let the artist finish a thought. Dan does. I love his easy style - he pulls way more out of the interviewee as they have to actual think of an answer.
Problem is he knows almost NOTHING about the subject and he's boring. I'll give you credit for finding one positive thing about him however.
@@cactusjackNV Bullshit! He asked a couple of very poignant questions and got some very deep and meaningful answers.
Much kudos to Dan Rather, no one can interview like he can. He basically let's them talk, and his facial expression says tell me more. It's great that he got to interview these big-name stars on AXS tv.
Rather is a dishonest man. They talk to him because he is a Leftie.
Many people can interview as well as or better. Now, lying on the other hand, that's all on Dan Rather. The bum.
“Bleed To Love Her” is a great under-appreciated tune by Lindsey on The Dance live album.
Seen Fleetwood Mac a few times, though when I say them , I really mean Lindsey as my eyes never left watching this genius of a musician. To me he IS the band. Without him they’re lacking far too much and try as they have , can never replace him.
And...I also believe the band knew and knows this.
Lindsey is a unique musician, singer, & guitarist…to me, the best vocal range of the 3 singers and a very unorthodox Rock & Roll guitarist who almost never uses a pick…like Lennon, McCartney, & Harrison in The Beatles, I think all 3 benefited from the balance needed to coexist in such a strong lineup; of course, all 3 had the awesome rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood & John McVie…Fleetwood Mac!
I just love the fact that he doesn't use a pick and uses a modified form of finger picking.
Lindsey Buckingham is one great musician and song writer. He is a survivor and Rumours ranks highly on any list of greatest albums.Christine will be missed, died from cancer of unknown primary CUP
🙏🏻🎸🎸🙏🏻
Has everyone forgotten that one of the reasons why Lindsey didn't go on the 'Tango In The Night' tour was because Stevie's Cocaine habit was so severe, he was certain she was going to kill herself on another tour.
Furthermore, Stevie was barely present during the 'Tango' sessions, other than the three songs she contributed, Lindsey was the one who anchored that album.
Good comment. Hence the song “I must go”. She admitted her drug habit was the worst one in the band.
Thanks for sharing. She always made my skin crawl.
There are stories that he took her to rehab and stayed with her, probably saving her life.
@@momcatwoo reluctantly at first. So much the public doesn’t know.
SN N HER ANGER TO SCREW OVER LB... LET THAT ANGER GO SN...IT WILL CONTROL YOUR. LIFE...
I'm reminded how much I love Lindsey's voice. And ... his musicianship & his professionalism. A true master of his craft.
I'm a huge Yes fan and Steve Howe (guitar) fan. But I have to admit, Lindsey can play guitar! Fleetwood Mac only had Lindsey for guitar, the Eagles always carried two guitarists. Lindsey held his own even against the Eagles back then. He is also a great singer/songwriter. Go Your Own Way... amazing!
And, he does it without a pick.
I too am a big Yes//Steve Howe fan and agreed 💯 Lindsey’s a fantastic guitarist!
Not a fan of progressive rock. Glad it's gone!!!! Thank God 4 Kurt Cobain🤘
@@Patrick-fj4vz progressive rock is too complicated for the grundgers. Glad grundge is gone.
@@chitownlivingston7007 90's music is still relevant today, you NEVER here progressive "gay" rock anymore. I think id vomit
Very underrated. Outstanding guitarist. Excellent writer/ producer. Not sure why.
I was 12 years old and my father was playing Rumors over and over. Fleetwood Mac and Rumours became my Favorite Rock Bank and Album too this day. I have one regret in my lift was not seeing them in concert. Thank you for you incredible talents 🙏
If you get a chance to see him in concert, especially in a smaller theatre, go.
Agreed -- because I did at Bayfield WI near Lake Superior, late August 2012.
Agreed, he is such a talented guitarist and song writer.
Yep. This guy is never not 100%. He’s so intense.
He played in my home town a few years ago. I would love to have seen him. Sadly I was performing on stage myself that night.
Key words: small theater.
He’s such a talented musician
Prayers that she will forgive him and not be mad and holding a grudge. You can see the chemistry between the two of these. I hope they get together and let him back in with the band.
LB is an asset. What an artist.
Lindsey's music with Fleetwood Mac is just unbelievably good. Just listen to, 'Big Love,' from, 'The Dance.' Good gracious that's talent.
Lol seriously? Lindsey always has the worst songs on any Fleetwood Mac record. Tusk, is a perfect example.
@@sjs1555everything about tusk was considered bad

@@user-cs6up8eq7s Yeah. Especially the song, Sara. Come on. Think before you post. That song saved that record.
@@sjs1555the chain, never goin back again, go your own way and big love… come on now. Everyone had hits and misses. Personally i dont gravitate to Christine’s songs, and i do find the Stevie was the best writer but this takes nothin away from Lindsey.
Sad that Stevie Nicks would not tour with Lindsey Buckingham one last time while Christine McVie was still alive. A huge missed opportunity and tragedy for the fans. RIP Christine McVie.
Stevie Nicks let her ego ruin a lot of things for a lot of people. RIP Christine McVie
Agree. I'm glad Lindsey took the high road and didn't try to trash anyone like she does.
She put up with decades of abuse by Lindsey and she finally said no more.
there was no “abuse “ by Lindsey. Stevie is being crazy
@@lawrencedruckman5958 It may not have been abuse, but it sure got ugly more than a few times. Some people call him a psychopath. I don't see him that way. Maybe it was drug use or immaturity. Sometimes passion overrides rational thought. Stevie sure can get touchy sometimes, like when he rolled his eyes when she kept talking at an award ceremony.
Rumours was and is one of my all time favorites. I actually wore out my first copy, which of course was on vinyl, and had to buy a second one. It was released during a particularly happy time in my life so that is a part of it too.
I was Lindsey’s waitress at a little bbq place in Cupertino Ca and I wish I would have had more time to talk with him but I was just 19 years old and actually tried to get him and his friends kicked out for what I thought at the time were just 3 guys giving me a hard time😂
He a douche bag?
The sound of Fleetwood Mac after 1975 is the sound of Lindsey Buckingham. Stevie wrote and performed some great songs but it was Lindsey's touch on those songs that made them shine.
He writes perfectly balanced music; nothing to excess. That's why you like it so much.
My mom was a kid in the 70s amd her mom listened to all this stuff I've never seen them live but she did im actually more of a 50s and 60s guy but like my mom grew up on it she passed it down to me and fleetwood mac imo is one of the greatest bands of all time that stands the test of time. I've always been a fan of lindsay so real and tells it how it is..
I’m more of a hard rock guy.. but Rumours was an excellent album, as a musician you can’t deny the talent & song writing ability of this version of Fleetwood Mac. I have liked FM since the late 60’s when they were a blues band.
Agreed. As a guitarist I was into Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Sabbath etc, but there was no denying the brilliant songwriting and hooks of that era of Fleetwood Mac and also The Eagles.
That first Fleetwood Mac album from 1966 is just classic!
Early Mac w Peter Green was the best
@@billywiseman1819 Definitely.. but for the era Rumours was a damn good album.
Granted, but I have a hard time calling the Album as a whole soft rock. There are cuts on the Album sure, but as a whole in 1977 no.
Nice to see Lindsey on a show other than What’s Up With That?
😂
Lol😂😂😂😂
😂 🤣
Lindsey and Stevie belong together, even now. I will always believe that .
Without Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac don’t work! He isn’t replaceable!
I grew up in my late teens when Fleetwood Mac was touring. They are part of my history. I miss Stevie, Christine, and Lindsey especially. We felt their music and the memory is still with us.
Lindsay’s guitar work and his production of their albums made FM a huge band
He looks good considering the lifestyle he and others experienced back then, booze, drugs, girls, man, I'm envious.
Lindsey Buckingham doesn’t get enough credit for his guitar work. He gets a lot of credit, but it still isn’t enough. He is phenomenal.
Lindsey an Stevie should go on tour with just themselves. It be great.
I saw the ‘79 concert in Pocatello, Idaho. Had no idea I was watching history!!
He is a classy guy. Never says anything derogatory about Stevie or the band.
He always has some kind of negative comment about Stevie, they are just narcissistic type of underhanded comments 🙄
@@kyraarchuleta346- No, I think you just think that! 🙄
Love his voice and his guitar playing as criminally underrated .
There can only be pain if there is love, and I love the pain of love.
The word passion means to suffer. Rumours was made with a lot of passion.
the two guys who the band was named after (John and Mick) were the non-songwriters
It's kind of funny when you think of it that way.
The greatest rock and roll story of knowing the history of this band. The story of this band it's almost intriguing as listening to the the music of this band! It really should be a movie!!! It would be a big hit in the movie theater!!!
I was planning on seeing Stevie this coming year and her tickets are $200 before other fees. I would pay that to see Fleetwood Mac with Christine Mcvie. Never just Stevie. She is talented but quite narcissistic. Not hating. She’s a great artist and I guess most are very self aware. You can’t live that life and not be, I suppose.
That’s how I feel. When I watch some of the videos people post of her concerts, it doesn’t have the charisma that FM has. Not to be bashing on her, she’s a great artist, but she and Lindsey really compliment each other. I have no desire to see her perform.
Lindsey Buckingham, I found your clips on RUclips. I listen to your "Go your own way" at least once a week. What an insanely talented musician you are. Your entire band and your excellent, enthusiastic drummer.
I love him always have !!!!!
What a great artist, person, performer and soul Lindsay Buckingham is. I have so much respect for his music, goodness and appreciation for what he has accomplished and shared with us, devoted fans, throughout his life. Thank you!
PURE BRILLIANCE!🎼🎸🥁💯👊
This dude Rules!
I totally agree that people should be able to have closure. I wasn't able to do that and I have been alone for about 15 years and still sometimes I feel sad.
Love you Lindsey from the 67 year old woman.😢
They average fan and buyers of the album really didn't know the back story till after it was a huge hit. Then it became a thing..about the members.😅
Lindsey is so right in what he is saying.
I still think it's a damn shame he kept getting bumped on the What's Up With That talk show.
Well-spoken guy.
Love this
I've been a fan and listening to their music and things they have all said since Rumours came out. Yes I am old. My assessment is that the current rift between Stevie and Lindsey is her jealousy that he has built a happy home life with someone else and she never managed to do that. She was VERY attractive and could have anyone she wanted and as such took full advantage of that. But that doesn't last and most realize that in the end there are things that are more important than that. I think she assumed that she could recreate what she had with Lindsey and never managed to do that.
Lindsey is very gracious, unlike some of his band mates in their revisionism of history. At least he's honest about himself and doesn't try to paint himself as a victim, like Stevie Nicks is still doing. Hence why Lindsey's good karma has awarded him a happy family life, unlike the others.
Thank you...
Great artist!
At the end of the day, nobody bought Rumours because of the breakups.. I mean, nobody outside the band knew about their personal dramas. The fans bought it because it was full of cracking good songs.
I disagree with him that their personal lives were relevant to most fans at the time. I was a big fan at the time. I had no idea what was going on in any of their personal lives. But I was hearing their music on the radio every day and I had both the Rumours album and Fleetwod Mac, Fleetwood Mac. Years later I heard all the stories about their personal lives and the break-ups, but not back in 1977, when it was happening.
What a lovely lady, doing what seems a great but very difficult job. Job seems to be the wrong word i guess. I wish the best for her & her family, and everyone in similar situations. John.
Sorry to break it to you but Lindsey is a bloke. Get some rest John. 🖖
Sad Stevie gave him the boot. Him and Christine were my fav anyway. Regardless, all 5 of them are saints and gods to me. Thank you fleetwood Mac!
An amazingly talented man and band. They should have stopped touring after The Dance though, because they were just corralling old problems and not ever resolving them. Great music from the hearts and minds of people who went through something and did something with it. Brilliantly.
Thank you, Lindseyw
I honestly don’t think a lot of people were tracking the lives of the band. The album was just chock full of great songs. I didn’t perceive them to be just about each other.
Rumours appeals as the perfect American sound for the time, by a band 3/5 British. Even the title spelling.
a bit like 'blue' by joni mitchell. the honesty was clearly uncontrived
Legendary Musical Genius
Hes still the most beautiful man in the industry 🥰🐈⬛
Yes he is!
This is an old interview. Probably over 10 years old.
Lindsey is, as always, a GOD among men
Thank you Fleetwood Mac for came
Clouse to me in Pala Casino I had vidios and I wait to the end for the song I loved ….
Go Your Own Way
It was mi time after I listened for years in New York and now I lost my Mother one year ago Sep16, also in a nasty divorce….. but I’m here like a hug rock ….. I hop I can take a picture with you gays for my living room…. Make my dream real……
Ed.. live in SD (for me is Single by Divorce) ……..
It wasn't the" best album of its time ", its brilliant In any time .
It was soul-baring.
What a beautiful soul? I can lusten to him all day. It probably saved him in the end splitting with Stevie. He got married had a family and gave up drugs wirhout rehab. I can't help but think his life would have been worse wirh her. His musical talents so underated
Seems like you completely skipped the first Fleetwood Mac album that featured Buckingham and Nicks. It was simply called “Fleetwood Mac” and it was recorded at Sound City Studios on an analog board. Released in 1975, 2 years before Rumours.
2015 interview
I always preferred Lindsey's and Christine's songs over Stevie's. Yes, Stevie was pretty and she had a unique voice and some interesting songs (sounding much better thanks to the band's musicianship), but I prefer the other two.
Same here 🙌
Agreed!
Jeez, Second Hand News...as a kid in the 70's, i always thought he sung "im just sittin here nude"... Lol
Wait, what year is this interview from?

He probably calls his house Buckingham Palace.
Isn't this the interview from 2019 after FWM booted him?
Pretty sure it was before that.

Many others have talked of this.
You need to interview the Prime Minister of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Pat “Redbone” Vegas.
When Dan Rather says “drug use”, Lindsey sniffs.
The best song he ever wrote is Holiday Road. His best Fleetwood Mac song could be Blue Letter.
THANK YOU!! lol I bet hardly no one even knows he did that song. Can not hear that and not have a smile on my face.
Check out “Bleed to Lover Her” off The Dance live LP.

Art for art’s sake - 🤷🏻 🎸🥁 👍
I honestly thought he was the bad guy in their break up. But when she "him or me'd" Lindsey because he "smirked" when she made a speech...
Lindsey kept his heart intact. Good man. He was immature with Stevie, maybe. A little patience from her could’ve changed the way they ended up…
Mick Fleetwood should have kicked her out of the band when she said "It's either him or me". She may be the star, but so what, they are all stars. Another girl temper tantrum destroys a relationship, big surprise. Fleetwood could've kicked her little ass right out the door.
Agree. He did far more for that band, musically, than she ever did. I am not saying she wasn't talented, but I feel he did far more.
Creatively at this point, Lindsey would be far more valuable. But as a draw on the road, the band needed Stevie more than it needed Lindsey. She's held that leverage over them ever since her solo career took off.
@@DanHaya72- She only had one good solo album, the rest were boring as hell.
Lindsey has always been unfairly criticised. Stevie dumped him then slept with Mick Fleetwood, imagine how that would have felt? By all accounts she was also about to run off with a man from San Francisco when they were still together. He truly loved her. Am glad he found Kristen and had his beautiful kids. It sounds like they saved their marriage as well which is great. Dan Rather is excellent as ever.
Clapton is brilliant but Buckingham is better
Clapton is better at marketing and making money. Lyndsay was all about the music and its journey..........the money was just a bonus to go along with it.
What a load of crap.. 🤦♂️
So true
No Christy no Fleetwood Mac...
!!
Except that she was gone for a decade and the band kept on going. Different circumstances now, to be sure, but it could be done if Stevie would ever get off of her high horse.
The band is insane not to have Lindsay playing with them
Damn i almost thought he was Yolanda Saldívar 😮
I wonder what he thinks about the group "Rumours of Fleetwood Mac"
that's really Bill Hader and not Lindsey Buckingham
IMO Stevie made that band was it was and was it's downfall too.
I never thought Stevie ‘made’ that band! Stevie wouldn’t even be known of if not for Lindsey.
