Not sure if you have children. But the purpose for this on the switch is quite obvious. It's to get kids interested in music. Yes it's EDM stuff and I'm a live musician by trade. But it's fun for kids to play around with. It give an introduction to music production. Creativity. But if this "game" can get my kids to become interested in music, then I'm all for it.
Korg was early in switch life cycle. If I make a guess, they put it on the switch because of play on the go and joycon capabilities. The initial version got mixed reviews because pro couldn't export the music they make and it work more like multiplayer session with group of people playing it together.
Cool video glad I ran into this. If I have to say what is the point of this. It's to give hardcore Nintendo KORG users a more professional DAW. KORG M01D and Korg dsn-12 are powerful but the stereo out limatations hinder us down and the combination of controller and touch screen is a unique workflow you won't find anywhere else. So the Creator sano decided to port KORG GADGET into switch and I use it way more than the iPad version because I spent the last 12 years getting used to the Nintendo daw workflow. It's a fever dream for me. Also the KORG Nintendo apps were not for the faint of heart, if you have no type of skill your not going to get any good sound out of this, and if your spoiled by PC daws or iPad your work flow is going to suffer, but for Nintendo KORG users who pushed the limit on older software this is light years ahead of what we had to deal with. Also lot of features that KORG GADGET has before existed were made first into Nintendo KORG apps. So when you look at the history of KORG and Nintendo, it makes sense that moving from the 3ds to switch, we need a new music tool like KORG GADGET, or a new version of colors! Live for drawing. But yeah if your want to see what KORG GADGET or the other apps can do you can check my channel out!
My guess would be most people that have a switch that make music have an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC to transfer it too. At least from the way Korg might have been thinking.
It's perfectly suited. Playful, easy and in the spirit of Game Boy chiptune music. The Switch is a distraction-free device. No multitasking, no browser, no pop-ups. You can integrate it in a live setup and knowing that the OS will 100% shut up. It's the best thing besides hardware you can use for creativity. You have fun fucking around, because no serious monster-DAW is waiting for your input. It's making music like we used to when we're younger, more limited, less ambutious. Short - It's fun. One of my favourite games (!) on the Switch ;)
I'm kinda of nerd with this so I have it as plugins, the switch and IOS. being able to go between all three is great and they are all unique. I agree with other comments I believe the main reason they put it on here is the fan base from the ds-10(+) and dsn-12 but I don't think you were really asking lol. cool video by the way.
do you mean does the switch let you record a 30 second clip? it does, I had to recently stitch 2 clips together on my PC, until I learned how to feed it to the PC myself straight from the switch
Been using a nintendo ds with korg ds-10 on live gigs as a kaoss pad and sequencer for more than 12 years. I travel a lot and sometimes i just need something smaller than my laptop and bigger (or at least less distracting) than my phone to sketch ideas on the go, and I take my switch everywhere, this sounds made specifically for me. I was expecting you to mention if you can use the touchscreen, if it does I'll go and buy it immediately
@@Chibiknux Didn't realize I didn't mention the touch functionality. It's got limited touch functionality. It works on some screens (like the piano roll and gadget screen) but not for navigating menus or navigating between screens.
it's expensive plus not to mention you can't save the songs especially if you don't have a midi controller but unlike Rhytmik Ultimate on the 3ds, you can export the songs either on Wav or MP3
As far as I was able to tell, there's no hard time limit per se but there is a maximum amount of measures per clip and a maximum amount of segments you can have in a session. How long it ends up depends on your tempo and, I think, you can have segments repeat. Been a while since I used the software. It's important to note that since there's not really a convenient means of exporting a song, you'll need some kind of external means to record the song off of the switch when you are done.
I plan to release a compilation album with all the background stock music I've made for the channel at some point in the future, which will include the songs from this video! It's fell to the wayside due to having too many projects going at once and still wanting 2 or 3 more songs to round out that compilation but it's on my list of things to do. That will go up on my bandcamp page (The Lossless Few) and I'll definitely have a video about it here on the channel, if not a RUclips upload of it. I can try to remember to reply again to this comment when I get that up, if you'd like.
I’m so into debate of getting it after getting Super Mario RPG for Christmas. But I do love Rhythm Core Alpha 2 because I remember using it when I was a teenager but it wasn’t until last year that I got it again after deleting my old NNID (I transferred all of my DSiWare games onto my 3DS) in favour of a new NNID by accident.
Where can I get a copy 😮, ok just the E-shop. Can you transfer your music from your switch to a computer, 3:02 "the wetdest thing though you can't....you can't....you can't...." 😢
@@gaving321i was thinking the same thing, sure sound quality wouldn't be the best out of an unbalanced mini jack switch audio output, but if you can't afford hardware synths or DAWs on computer this is a great alternative, i really don't know any professional DAW that includes (usable) virtual instruments cheaper than this
I did buy it and made some pretty decent stuff to be fair , got some on here , pretty limited as you only have 15 tracks to use , I did use music 2000 for years , now I make music properly now
@@Kristian179 There is no functionality in the software to export as an audio file to the SD card. The only way to get the song is to record it via an external device, like an audio recorder or capture card, or export it to another version of the Korg Gadget with a QR code.
The switch version is unfortunately far inferior to the other versions. The least they could have done is allow full touch support… but no! They messed it up for no reason. And years later…. They still haven’t fixed it. It was definitely a cash grab.

I just made or re-created a song I like and it sounds pretty pretty good💯

much larger than 30 sec

Now im wondering if korg gadget would be on Nintendos next console.
I'd hope that at least this version is backwards compatible with their next console.

i made a whole EP using mine! folks get so confused when i break out the Switch to perform lol

just because it's on the Switch, that doesn't mean you can't export/transfer the songs thru the micro sd card
