A lot of respect to you and this honest review. I'd seen other videos of sponsored and biased people praising Scuf and completely ignoring the flaws. You really opened my eyes and I think you saved my dumbass a couple hundred $.
I know SCUF has had a long record of sponsoring youtubers and getting praise where it hasn't been earned. Then other videos and sources tell the real story of defective devices left and right. But thankfully my controller is still fully functional besides the bluetooth issue. Just recently though SCUF has stopped using aftermarket PS4 controllers and is seeing an improvement in their quality going out to the customer. Thought that was worth noting.
I bought this controller around a year ago and still use it today. I bought it without the rumble pack and have enjoyed the lighter controller without the motors in the handles. The grip on the back of the controller hasn't worn out or faded. The triggers and buttons have stayed responsive as well. I did have some issues with the controller though. My first problem is that the custom joysticks with the Scuf logo on them wear down faster than default controllers. The material is softer, which feels nice, but is not meant to last. While playing, the top portion of the joystick will rub along the joystick rings, causing the sticks to be worn down from underneath as well. My second problem is that the paddles break frequently. The paddles are made from a hard plastic that doesn't like to bend. If you press down hard on them, they will snap. Unfortunately, the button response of the paddles isn't great, so you need to press them using reasonable force. Scuf knows about these issues and have decided not to fix the issue, but has made it easier for customers to buy replacement parts so you can fix your controller yourself. The paddles and joysticks are very easy to replace with the replacement kits they sell on their website. Just be aware that you will be replacing these parts very often.
I really liked this review because you actually pointed out the flaws not like other people who just say how good it is and how effective it, say its 10 out of 10 "like skyrim but with more funcionality". Great review!
100% agree. I got this controller for Christmas and last week I starting having the same problems. My L3 button almost never works and the left stick drifts up constantly, and of course the warranty is expired now so I desperately need to get it fixed. :(
The issue with sprinting might be with the concave stick. I bought a Scuf a year ago before they had feature like the "military grade grip" and the inter-changable sticks. I would play play Star Wars Battlefront and I would have to hold down on L3 really hard to sprint. I ended up wearing out the concave stick and the outer rubber on the top came off. I have never had a problem with the domed stick wearing out . I just bought a new Scuf with double domed sticks and I like it much better. I have not tested it out on any FPS yet. The only reason I had got the concave was because of the recommendation on Scuf's site that most people prefer to have left concave and right domed. I guess I must be an outlier, because I definitely like double domed better.
Always appreciate the feedback and I am happy to provide the honest opinion. There will be an update on the scuf review as I have had more time to use it. The updated review will have more insite to the company and the flaws/defects coming out to the customers.
Now "that" is a helpful review, much more than the 'unboxing' dude with his millions of subscribers. Thanks a lot man ! exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully SCUF will take into account your feedback regarding the L3 stick and the bluetooth issues. Maybe that's just this specific controller though, may be worth trying to get an exchange for another one.
The truth about the company is they use aftermarket PS4 controllers. Modify them, and sell at a ridiculous price. I am doing a further review on them, based on the performance, company feedback and interactions I have had with them. So many big youtuber guys that were sponsored by SCUF are stepping away from the company. Some even have flat out said it was a scam. My opinion, stay away from this company.
it seems to me that scuff makes the controllers sells them high but builds them to where they'll break sometime in the distant future and to ( repair) it you pay them so they never fix the problem fully just temporarily
I have had mine for 3 years nothing has messed up about to get the infinity pro for Christmas Idk how you guys break those so fast everyone says they’re cheap but you must be clicking it crazy hard or something because mine still works fine and I normally play a few hours a day
For this I would recommend the StrikePack F.P.S Dominator. It is a piece of gaming equipment that goes on the back of your existing Ps4 or XB1 controller it is durable and cheap! It comes in at 40 USD and has 2 remap able paddles and a mod pack (turns your controller into a modded one). There is 2 modes, tournament mode and mod mode. In simple words the tournament mode just allows the use of paddles and not mods. Mod mode allows paddles and mods to be used at any time! If this helps you make sure you like this comment also there is a video on my channel showing off this product if you want to check it out!
Thanks, bro! It's not my intention to bitch about the scuf controller but I think that those bluetooth issues are some serious shit, cause it's like u're going back to PS2 experience as far as controller since the very basic wireless option is gone. Still good review... Keep it up, bro!
If I may say, supposedly the new 4ps infinity pro covers some if not most of the flaws the original had. Perhaps give it a try? An all possible upgrades is now 180, including everything you would want
If this is a controller that you use rather frequently, I would be extremely interested in you thought after a month or 2. I purchased a infinity 4ps May of last year. By mid July it was not jumping with the left paddle at all. Right paddle was intermittently sliding. Sent it in and got it back. Fastforeward to October and I have the same paddle issues and also the left joystick only allows me to run when constantly held down as opposed to being pressed one time, and being able to keep running. Also I have had major deterioration of the joysticks, leaving little mounds of rubber underneath the thumbstick. For ideal gaming the left one would need to be replaced once a month where as the left once every 2-3 months. This is all based around call of duty. To me it honestly isn't worth it now. However when the controller is working it's a great purchase but with all the "upkeep" on the controller it honestly isn't worth it. If the product was more durable (for a lack of words) I would make another purchase but with the current state of the ps4 controllers from scuf I can't justify recommending anyone to buy it unless you have the money to buy 2, so that you have a backup to use when sending the other in if money isn't an issue.
Hello. Not sure if you check you're really old vids for, but I am wondering what your opinion on this controller is today. I have been searching for an elite controller and haven't found the greatest fit yet. One thing I have found out about my controller preference is I really like the feel of the PS4 stock dual shock in terms of fit. So many controllers seem to be modeling themselves after xbox I guess because that is the preference for most, but I have small hands and the PS4 dual shock still seems to fit the best. So far I've tried the Scuf Vantage and returned that within 24 hrs. Just felt cheap and had some issues. Currently using an astro C40 which I mostly like, but I find the underside finish kind of slippery almost and the underside buttons aren't in the right place for my fingers and I hit them on accident on occasion. I have watched most all your controller vids and know battle beaver is your go to currently, but I find their website ordering very difficult to understand what you're buying. The Scuf Infinity build page is much easier to understand. Also I play pretty much just Destiny 2. So that said, would you still recommend this is a PS4 shaped controller? Have BT connectivity drop out improved? Appreciate any input. Understand if you don't see given it's two yrs old.
I mainly considered getting this controller cuz all my L3 on my controllers end up broken cuz I’m a D2 player. I run & gun a lot so I can spend about 7 or more hours a day constantly pressing that button. It’s the most used button & the only button that I break. Never had the problem with PS3 but here I am on my 6th..
Hey Bro the Key does come with the controller to remove the sticks. I have 2 of those and they both came with the key. It's in the foam surround where there is s whole with 2 lines in it, They squish the key way down. If you can't find it pull the entire foam surround out of the box and you'll find it.
Mine rubbed off in two days for doomed, the concave lasted longer around 2 weeks. I used the doomed on L3, with a lot of sprinting. So basically mine is flipped from yours.
sigh after watching issues on alot of reviews it's making me scared that mine is gona go to shot since I paid fucking 186$ -.-, for being a pc gamer and buying products easily that help me game without it breaking down I was hoping a scuf could help me.. now I feel skeptical
Don't worry, my SCUF survived for two years, but in the end I broke the charging port. Everything else was fine, the controller didn't break due to bad quality, I broke it.
I paid over $200 for my scuf, it lasted 2-3 months before the right paddle stopped working intermittently, then a couple of months after that snapped off completely. Its basically scrap now because the cost to repair ( I don't live in the US) in the cost of a new controller. $200 for a controller that lasts less than 6 months, no thanks.
The Infinity Lock to remove the thumpsticks should have been in the box of your controller, even if you didn't bought extra joysticks. I have it and didn't ordered extra sticks.
Awesome, really appreciate it AB! Looks like you were capturing commentary with Audacity then synced with the video? Which software did/do you use to edit videos?
I use adobe premier and adobe after affects for video editing. I used to use audacity for audio but I just recently switched up to adobe audition. The difference is pretty surreal. Just check out my recent vids which I used audition with. The noise gate and canceling features as solid.
You had me at "Alright guys, thanks for joining me" instead of a "WHAAAAAAAAATS UP GUYS". So many other youtubers just sound like dumb shits when they say that but you, you sound like a damn MAESTRO creating a fucking work of ART! Very good review, straight to the point and fuck not being yourself. You sir earned a subscriber and are awesome. Thank you for a no-bullshit video. These are becoming a scarce thing.
I love how your saying the truth not like other ppl, other ppl the first thing they say is "Oh you have to get this control blah blah blah" and they say this all great
Hi, I’ve had my scuf for a few weeks now but I just recently lost the little screwdriver thing to change the sensitivity of my triggers, and I think it’s in my sofa but I cannot find it. What do you think I should do?
I do not recommend digital tap triggers. The triggers get stuck which makes the controller unusable, I have the controller for less than 6 months and its the second time I return it for repair.
so what about the fact you can max out the controller for 169$ currently? does that make it worth it? all the other options right now are about the same price anyway lol
Ordered the Nacon got it and returned it the same day. Its way too different to a normal ps4 controller (trigger shape). You can probably find a better scuf for the same price.
Tbh it's the controller in general I've had official controllers that do the stuff your talking about losing connectivity and the sprint thing I will be getting one of these controllers later
ive been thinking about getting a scuff for exactly the reason that my ps4 controllers always end up getting harder to hold down on the left thumbstick to sprint
U can make ur own hair trigger just open ur controller and there is springs under the triggers and just take those out and now u have hair triggers.( i did this on accident I was trying to fix my controller I fixed it but I lost the springs so now I have hair triggers or whatever lol that easy)
I customized everything on the scuf impact ps4 controller: I got new colors, 4 paddles, the magnetic key, hair triggers, and extra joysticks and it was only $180. So despite your own experience and review, which was decent, your price point was far off.
Crazy question, companies have to know by now people are doing things to adjust the trigger to make them bottom our earlier. Why don't games just have a hair trigger mode where all you need to do is tap on the triggers to fire a round? Saves everyone a good $120 on a controller then.
Stevan Bardot Take into account scuf is now using authentic PS4 controllers for their modding process. They have been seeing an improvement in quality standards from what I have heard
Frankenstein2727 this is pretty late but everyone’s experience will be different as they are custom made not factory made some will not be as tightly configured as others some parts will break quicker due to how heavy handed you are with you paddles and thumb sticks Buying spare parts when you purchase it is highly recommended also don’t hesitate to send it back for a replacement As I said being custom made the person who makes your controller as long as they construct it properly and you don’t smash your paddles around or bust your thumb sticks I’ve heard many people say that they have had one for 2 years plus and works fine
Quinn Lightblade U can make ur own hair trigger just open ur controller and there is springs under the triggers and just take those out and now u have hair triggers.( i did this on accident I was trying to fix my controller I fixed it but I lost the springs so now I have hair triggers or whatever lol that easy)
I had some r2 extentions on my ps3 controller... I put hot glue in behind the recess behind the extension it stays on now... the good thing is that hot glue can usually be rubbed right off if you need to remove it. Not sure if that would work for ps4 ones im just sayin.
I'm sure they are almost impossible to return to. They probably have a no return policy. I have come to find out this company is practically a scam. And they use mainstream youtuber's to heavy advertise to gamers. So very sad for us average joes.
I hated my scuf, I got a regular PS4 controller & just put my button layout on stick & move & it's literally the fuckin same as a scuf, like I wasted a good bit of money for no reason when I could of just been using the stick & move button layout, I recommend ppl to use that layout if you want what a scuf can do
Bluetooth connection on my original Ps4 controller always messed up. So I always connect the USB so I can have a wired connection then i'm not looking everywhere by accident and loosing gunfights.
Air : do know what's gonna be so good for back paddles if they customize ps5 controller and put astro c40 paddles in the back of the ps5 or ps4 controller i want to make my idea come true plz show case the idea
Awesome review. I been through a few scufs (from Xbox 360 to Xbox one) and they are not durable nor worth the money. Absolute shit. You would think spending over $100--$200 on a controller you would be blessed with at least normal functionality since the paddles breaks faster than me cummings but I guess not.
Got mine in mail the other day and I still cant get it to connect with my computer via bluetooth. Really annoying. Tried everything and still cant get it to hook up with my bluetooth, even bought a newer ASUS bluetooth adapter and it cant read it either. R1 button is mushy feeling too. Paid $230 for mine and not happy. Its just a glorified PS controller. To be fair haven't tried it on a PS, because I bought it for PC.
Air : do know what's gonna be so good for back paddles if they customize ps5 controller and put astro c40 paddles in the back of it omg i have this idea in my head for a year now before i was thinking about ps4 controller but now i changed i want to make my idea come true plz show case the idea
I really appreciate this review man, so many reviewers r ruined by being bias about the product and being sponsored. U awesome man thanks.
Thank you for your honest feedback. Glad the video helped
if im paying that much for a controller, it better make me breakfast, allow me to fly, and order pizza!
RIGHT! Or at least work properly and be built to last.
+AIR BEAR Which is not the case unfortunately
AIR BEAR Do you think it's best to buy the nacon revelotion controller over these
I haven't used that articular controller sadly
Hahahahahahahahahaha how original and hilarious

@AIR BEAR you should do an updated review of this controller please.

Always appreciate the feedback and I am happy to provide the honest opinion. There will be an update on the scuf review as I have had more time to use it. The updated review will have more insite to the company and the flaws/defects coming out to the customers.

Overall standard PS4 contollers are better for durability hands down.
Awesome scuf bro, I'm ordering mine tomorrow, not customizing tho, just straight up scuf. We should, play on bo3 sometime I subbed
Thanks for the sub, dude!

Hello. Not sure if you check you're really old vids for, but I am wondering what your opinion on this controller is today. I have been searching for an elite controller and haven't found the greatest fit yet.
Have you tried the Razer Raiju or the Nacon ? Not sure what controller to pick up myself

Does it feel like a regular controller, I like that feeling
Are the infinity 1 better than the vintage ?
Do u know how the input lag is for when it’s wired straight to the ps4 or is it like they regular ps4 controller?
In what game do you hold down sprint??
Crazy question, companies have to know by now people are doing things to adjust the trigger to make them bottom our earlier. Why don't games just have a hair trigger mode where all you need to do is tap on the triggers to fire a round? Saves everyone a good $120 on a controller then.
so according to this review , the scuf controller is over priced crap, thank goodness i watched this vid, it saved me 149.00 thanks for the vid.
Stevan Bardot Take into account scuf is now using authentic PS4 controllers for their modding process. They have been seeing an improvement in quality standards from what I have heard
You have a cat now I know I'm in the right place.
does your right paddle still work?....if it does, it won't for long...scuffs are not quality controllers. Especially for the price
Frankenstein2727 this is pretty late but everyone’s experience will be different as they are custom made not factory made some will not be as tightly configured as others some parts will break quicker due to how heavy handed you are with you paddles and thumb sticks
Buying spare parts when you purchase it is highly recommended also don’t hesitate to send it back for a replacement
As I said being custom made the person who makes your controller as long as they construct it properly and you don’t smash your paddles around or bust your thumb sticks I’ve heard many people say that they have had one for 2 years plus and works fine
So with the trigger stops do you recommend people who switch there r1 L1 to switch back ciahse there’s no point if you have the trigger stops?
Optical Decay if you flipping the triggers, there is no point in getting the hair trigger stops
Is this controller good for quickscoping
I just want those triggers. I don't want to pay that much tho, and I already have 4 controllers, can I just buy hair-whatever triggers?
Quinn Lightblade U can make ur own hair trigger just open ur controller and there is springs under the triggers and just take those out and now u have hair triggers.( i did this on accident I was trying to fix my controller I fixed it but I lost the springs so now I have hair triggers or whatever lol that easy)
I know it's kinda risky but trust me it's worth the triggers
I had some r2 extentions on my ps3 controller... I put hot glue in behind the recess behind the extension it stays on now... the good thing is that hot glue can usually be rubbed right off if you need to remove it. Not sure if that would work for ps4 ones im just sayin.
I thought it was just me on the l3 running. Paid 220, u think I can return?
I'm sure they are almost impossible to return to. They probably have a no return policy. I have come to find out this company is practically a scam. And they use mainstream youtuber's to heavy advertise to gamers. So very sad for us average joes.
I hated my scuf, I got a regular PS4 controller & just put my button layout on stick & move & it's literally the fuckin same as a scuf, like I wasted a good bit of money for no reason when I could of just been using the stick & move button layout, I recommend ppl to use that layout if you want what a scuf can do
Its close but not the same.
do u feel the aim assist is different than ps5 controller in it?
i had the same problem white the left analog . I open it but you dont see anything rong . and now i cant put it back togehter :( it sucks
i’m going to end up buying a regular controller with scuf paddle kits
I heard some people say that the infinity 4ps can’t be used while charging. Is that true? I want to know before I even think about purchasing one
untrue
cutest gamer on the internet, hands down :)
Bluetooth connection on my original Ps4 controller always messed up. So I always connect the USB so I can have a wired connection then i'm not looking everywhere by accident and loosing gunfights.
I had the exact same issue. Wasn't touching the right thumbstick at all, just wen't to looking around all by itself
Air : do know what's gonna be so good for back paddles if they customize ps5 controller and put astro c40 paddles in the back of the ps5 or ps4 controller i want to make my idea come true plz show case the idea
The cat kept distracting me😂😂
Ik I'm late and this question sounds stupid but does this controller work for any ps4?
For ex: the basic ps4
josephc lobo yes & ps3 not that that prolly matters tho 😭
Awesome review. I been through a few scufs (from Xbox 360 to Xbox one) and they are not durable nor worth the money. Absolute shit. You would think spending over $100--$200 on a controller you would be blessed with at least normal functionality since the paddles breaks faster than me cummings but I guess not.
I know right. Sad to see so many people having paddle and thumbstick problems
Does eneyone one else just look at his amazing cats
Does this thing work on any ps4 or just the ps pro
My scuf impact is dope, and I’ve had it for months and nothing has happened to it.
I only need x and o. Will they automatically put x and o or will I need to get the key just incase they have it as a square?
You will need to select which buttons you want to which triggers if you are not purchasing the remappable key
To be fair haven't tried it on a PS, because I bought it for PC.
if u don’t get the remapping system what buttons are on the back
shrekt ogre You pick the controls before you order it but you have to choose wisely because you wont be able to change it unless you get the key
I just ordered this same one how has it held up for u
MR-FLIP how has it held for you
MR-FLIP how has it held out for u
has it broke down yet? right paddle failure? left analog....
Not yet, but I don't game as much as the average gamer. I used to game everyday. Now I game every week or so.
What controller would you recommend if your trying to go pro
Zrixity probaly impact or infinity 4ps honestly those are the 2 best
Also if you play fortnite defiantly IMPACT or infinity 4ps
Air : do know what's gonna be so good for back paddles if they customize ps5 controller and put astro c40 paddles in the back of it omg i have this idea in my head for a year now before i was thinking about ps4 controller but now i changed i want to make my idea come true plz show case the idea
got the basic of that controller and it came with the joystick key.
Now I feel like I've been ripped off. wtf
Can u put kontroll freaks on this controller?
carlosmorenocm55 yes I have a green and white one
