@@Brando550 axe is not a top player currently (at least at the level of those others you mentioned). But you are right, this is a less stacked major than some of the other ones.
@@kkmac7247 axe is very much a top player... Consistent high placings st majors and won a smash summit (one of if not the hardest tourney to win)
At 11:33 aMSa performed a technique that caused him to store 3 automatic powershields. This let him use light shield to powershield and take no shield damage from Zain's bair, dancing blade, and shield breaker.
The tech is pretty simple, just cancel shield in the first few frames(which he did with a jump), storing 1-3 powershields depending on how fast you cancel it, reducing to 1 if you do certain actions like walk or turn, but it was used to great effect here.

I didn’t think you could cancel shield out of jump as yoshi am I wrong here? I’m pretty sure yoshi can’t jump out of shield can someone explain or am I dumb?
@@christophersonnier2306 Yoshi can jump out of shield startup. This is what you see aMSa do almost every parry to then punish with a double jump cancel aerial.

Proud of our boy Amsa. He had me laughing with how accurate his Eggs are, even using them to save himself.
It’s pretty sad though. He is saying that while descending, he knows he will get shield grabbed. There is nothing he can pressure shield with. So he is better off just throwing out a slow projectile to have a chance of avoiding the consequences.
this is seriously some of the highest level melee ive seen in a long time. this matchup at top level doesnt exist outside of these two and we're watching them write it with every set

I met him and played with him for the first time at this event, genuinely just a kind and knowledgeable person, it was amazing to see this live
Everyone should watch 17:05 through 17:07 frame by frame. (Pause at 17:05 and use period/comma to step forward/back frame by frame.)
The positioning by aMSa is insane there. Any more to the right and Yoshi would have bonked or rolled off, which is also why Zain chose to f-smash to the left. Any more to the left and Yoshi would have been clipped by Marth's f-smash.
Ikr. That egg roll could possibly be the most next level shit I've ever seen in melee.

I have a lot of respect for Hbox and Axe carrying their character but they (especially Puff) don't have such a bad tier/matchup like Yoshi does. Amsa is insane

aMSa is just one of the best players to watch. He embodies the spirit of melee and holy shit was this one of the greatest sets ever just unbelievable how much commitment it must take to keep pushing the level of gameplay we just watched.

Please don't let these two commentate top 8 at any tournament ever again. They're not bad when they talk about the game, in fact they're quite knowledgeable and insightful, but only 20% of what they say is relevant to the game. The rest of the time they're screaming, popping and laughing at stupid in-jokes, and otherwise detracting from the overall watching experience. At least provide an option to watch the game without any commentary, please.
The only upside to amsa losing is that his win would have been tainted by this horrendous commentary.

Sorry to have an opinion that's contradictory, but I only see the smash melee scene based on the videos and I've never seen him play yoshi. Last time I've seen him play it was when you could infinite wobble with ice climbers. You know super interactive game play.
