A scary moment for sure. I have a dental laboratory and use furnaces. I had a similar episode myself once, thankfully no fire. Since then I made a safety checklist that I tick off every time I use the furnace. It's easy to miss something when one is busy and easily distracted, since using the checklist I've never had a repeat mistake. Only takes a few moments to check everything and worth it for peace of mind.
Yeah that's a good idea. I was distracted putting the kiln on with my sister there. Moved the gloves off of a bucket I needed to use and put them on the kiln. Luckily the kiln is so fireproof itself!
I was going to suggest a check list for when you leave the kiln on overnight. Put it on the inside and outside of the shed door so you don't forget the go through the list. I use the check list method when I shut my business for the night. I call it the idiot check.
Oh I love your pottery and ceramics! Those pumpkins are wonderful!! K’ey is such a love. He seems to indulge you when you are playing with him! “Ok Weirdo, you wanna play eh? Sigh! Must pretend to play so she’ll stop sooner! Sigh.” 😂 🎃🧤❤️🔥
Phew. Glad everyone is safe, fire is very scary. Please invest in a powder of foam extinguisher for both the shed and the house. We have 2 in the kitchen and 2 upstairs, plus smoke alarms and carbon dioxide alarms, safe rather than sorry. Take care and stay safe x
So glad you are all OK! I have a check list for my crafting room. I know it seems like over doing it but I have two cats and many things are not safe for them so I have a short, basic check list. If something is out, put it away. Look over your room before you leave it. Works for me, as silky as it may seem.
Glad you are safe and nice detective work. Glad to hear the fire alarm is getting installed too. What about a carbon monoxide sensor too? At least you got some cool pottery out of the whole ordeal. Be safe!!!
Relieved no one was injured and no permanent damage incurred! The fire alarm and extinguisher are definitely the way to go. Glad you were able to solve the green mystery! Cheers from FL😺
Jodie, that was scary. So glad everyone is ok and there’s no damage to your garage. Question: Did the growth on Key’s hip clear up? Hug that beautiful fluffy boi for me. Love to you all from Tennessee USA. 🥰🐾
I'm grateful that everyone is okay and there wasn't any serious damage to anything. Have a great rest of your Sunday and new week ahead Jodie, Jodie's mum and Key.☺️💖
From the US Environmental Protection Agency: The most common tanning agents used in the U. S. are trivalent chromium and vegetable tannins extracted from specific tree barks. Alum, syntans (man-made chemicals), formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, and heavy oils are other tanning agents. So good call on the respirator. Glad you're safe.
I'm happy to hear you all are safe. Jodi you probably have a trauma from the fire, don't be afraid to talk with someone to work through it. Your mom or a therapist. What you're planning on doing with the smoke alarm and other safety measures is great.
Hi Jodie, I am so sorry that you had to go through that, we had a fire in our kitchen when I was growing up and I can understand how frightening it is. Even though nothing too terrible happened I know you are thinking about all the what ifs. Try hard not to do that if you can help it. It will only make you more anxious. Channel your nervous energy into all the plans you have to put up your alarms and other fire prevention stuff., then let it go if you can, that truly could have happened to anyone. Don't beat yourself up for it. That is a really good idea about the alarms ringing inside the house. So glad everything turned out alright for you.
Thank God they were natural leather gloves 😮 - maybe some synthetic in lining/stitches made ash green? No toxic gases & no explosion & nothing ELSE caught fire! That is a beautiful rectangular container - love the colouring & pattern of your shiny-glazed bowl! ❤
Wow! Good that the fire wasn’t any worse. What a scare. Your idea to install fire extinguishers is spot on. Love the idea of a safety checklist. Makes sense that you were distracted with your sister there. I always go babble and flail when there are other people around me if I’m trying to do something! BTW, I absolutely love your pottery and ceramics. Those pumpkins are very special and quite unique! Take care. Glad all is ok now. 🤗🎃🧤❤️🔥
@@jodie_boo Yes, luckily they weren't so fiery that the gloves didn't sputter, spark, or flame so high that they could catch the roof timbers. Glad everyone is okay. My family had a small garage fire when I was younger. It was an attached garage, and I saw smoke coming off the wall in an adjacent wall. I immediately went into the garage to find the other side of the wall engulfed in flames. I ran back into the house and got the fire extinguisher, put out the fire. Something in the trash cans had combusted that were stored along the wall.
Wow, I'm so glad the fire was minor and everyone is okay! Sounds like you've got good fire security now. I absolutely love your Halloween pottery! The Jack-O-Lanterns are so festive and the ghost is adorable. I wish I'd seen you make them - don't know if you videoed that or not.
Glad your garage didn’t catch on fire. Been in a fire and it was terrifying! Love your tea light covers. Because of your beautiful craftsmanship, I’d use battery tea lights. I hate the thought of a candle flame damaging the inside of them. Hugs, to you, Key and biscuit lady! 😊❤️🇨🇦
Dear Jodie, I am still under shock. So worried for my favorite Weirdo on the planet. Please let an electric-expert watch the thing. These pumpkins look really great. PS: Key is really BIG❤❤❤
Glad everyone is okay!!! I'm so sorry. I KNOW how terrifying that is because I've also had a fire in my house in 2021. My two cats were with me but hid for several hours!!
Jodie I am so glad your fire was contained. What a true blessing. God was watching over y’all. Please give Key, the sweet biscuit lady and yourself a big hug. Love to all
😮😮😮 oh wow! I'm glad that no one was hurt or anything was damaged except your gloves. They can be replaced. If you have access to some one you know that has cinder blocks (Build bricks or cement blocks) you can build your own fire wall. You can use patio blocks for top and bottom layer. Lay cinder blocks approximately 11/2- 2 feet in square sides or in octagon shape with inside corners touching around your Kiln. Leave open some space at top So kiln has some air so it won't over heat from within blocks. This is what I used for mine. Safety first. I hope it gives you some sense of knowing it is there to protect the outer side of your kiln and surroundings of outside of kiln . It is better safe than sorry. 💯You are very creative and very smart gal . Be safe Jodie. Lots of hugs . Hello Key , Keep mom and Nan safe 💞🐾🤗 P.S. I love your pumpkins and ghosts! 💕💕👍😁. Lovely art.
I'm glad it was only a small fire and everyone is safe and unharmed. Probably helped by being in a place with limited ventilation when the doors are closed.
I am so glad that the fire didn't spread and just went out. I just want to give you a hug. I appreciate how you felt cause I was making homemade soup and caught a plastic spoon on fire. I was afraid to go near the stovetop. 💋💋💜💜🐕stay safe and huge hugs my dear friend
I'm glad everything is oké. This must have been scary. You did the right thing, having a fire alarm now. Have a nice day with Key and your mother. Give Key a cuddle. Greatings from my cat Tika and me from the Netherlands 🐾❤️🐈⬛
So glad to know you, Key & your home didn't get damaged from that fire! Your pottery looks amazing & beautifully constructed! Those are really cool pumpkins! Jodie you are one super gal, when it comes to crafts of any kind that you choose to do! I once took a class in Pottery, and it was so much fun; especially to see how the color's look after baking:)) I didn't stick with it though, just like when I took a stained glass class! When I lived in Gainesville, FL...very beautiful, woodsy town (as the town forbids cutting down trees, unless necessary for building purposes only) A stroll in the woods, can yield a lot of pine-cones that are on the ground! So I used to make Christmas trees out of them, by shaping "Chicken Wire" into big cones, and inserting pine cons at every opening. They came out beautiful! Wishing you, Key & Nan a wonderful day! I'm still in a Woodsy area in Historic Ocala, (known for breading the finest thorobread horses, rolling hills & beautiful horse farms) just 34 miles from Gainesville.
So sorry that all this is happening to you sweetheart bet it was so scary(can imagine mum's reaction..) love all of those pumpkins that you have made sooo beautful .
Dear Jodie, mum and key ush, so much sorry to hear about the fire, you are super brave to deal with all this worry and stress, you were so organised to be waering a respirator, I d run away, snd I m 53!!! All the best to all of you, kind regards karen
You know Key's waffles and biscuits weren't on fire or he would've alerted Jodie Boo within seconds 🐕
Haha, yeah he wouldn't let that happen!
Dogs and other pets have their priorities. Thank goodness there is a camera and all is ok.
I’m glad everyone is okay.
Thank you so much!
@@jodie_boo your welcome.
Ah I also like doing art. Your pottery looks very nice and also useful. Do you sell at art fairs in your town?
I like the white pumpkins for candles cute.
Me too, I think someone else said it best "Fires are no joke!"
Glad to hear everyone is ok. Fires are definitely no joking matter.
Fire alarms are mandatory inside here in Australia. Definitely a good idea to put an alarm in the workshop
I am so glad everyone was safe from the fire
Thank you! :)

Grateful all is fine and no harm. That camera turns out to be a silent guardian of knowledge. Good job with electrician plan and fire alert system.
Glad you’re safe from the fire Jodie. Blessings 💙
Thank you :)
We all are glad that, you and key are safe and unhurt❤

How scary that is. I am so happy it wasn’t a bad fire. You are so lucky. I am thankful no one was hurt. Thank you.
Be safe, Jodie Boo…

We had a fire across the street from me at the hospital, glad to say everyone is ok! I'm glad you are safe!
