In a time where the world seems to have lost its mind, it's content like this that makes things feel normal again. Just a quick note to say I really appreciate your honesty and vulnerability in dealing with the dentist, I used to get just as freaked out even for things like teeth cleaning but getting older has taken that edge away :) What I can tell you for sure is you're making it way harder on yourself than you need to, having teeth out is not a big deal, the pain is temporary and it's so worth it long term! Jodie, I got used to having a “gap” from having a tooth pulled pretty quickly. After a few weeks, I really hardly noticed it. It will totally be worth it to give your teeth room to shift. A younger friend of mine had severe overbite and a really fleeing chin, I pitied her since she was so self-conscious about it. Yet she is a beautiful girl! However, after having saved up for special braces and wearing them for 22 months, she is now a changed person 😃. She knew she would have to endure pain and a gap, but she did it, because her mind was absolutely set on having straight teeth. Also at that time she was in her first job, she was 19 and earned very little. Chapeau to her resolution!

Having a tooth removed today is so much easier than it used to be. I know the "feel" part of it. You're tongue will wander. But you get use to it, both the gap and the wander!! You're beautiful, Jodie! You're going to be okay. One of my friend's had so much more done to make her smile and bite good, she was brave for years... now a beauty. No worries for you!! You're already there, my dear! ❤❤❤❤

Pro Tip: I'm sure your orthodontist will recommend one, but get yourself a WaterPik water flosser as soon as possible and start getting used to it now. Total game changer for keeping your mouth feeling clean.
Jodie, I promise you will be absolutely fine having that tooth out. I say this as a person who is dreadfully dentist phobic. About two years ago, I finally had no choice but to face my fear and go, because I needed a LOT of dental work done. Realizing how absolutely frightened I was, my dentist prescribed anti-anxiety medication to take before my appointment. It made all the difference. I had a tooth root removed (a previous root canal tooth that broke apart and fell out--yes, my teeth were in very bad shape). It was so simple that I did not know he had removed it until after he told me it was out. There are wonderful dental professionals out there in the world who are very caring and understanding people. The dental techs are especially used to helping those of us with dental anxiety. One of my dentist's techs will happily hold my hand or gently place her hand on my shoulder if I seem to be getting overwhelmed.

The close ups of key at the top of the stairs getting pets felt really personal. I totally caught the vibe and could almost seemingly pick up his scent and feel his fluff as you petted him. Very well done piece of footage.
Happy that you're able to get your teeth fixed. I know you'll be much happier with them fixed.

  • @henrikhyrup3995
    @henrikhyrup3995 10 месяцев назад +3

I really want to say "You got this, no need to be nervous or anxious." I had 3 wisdom teeth removed some years ago and that experience was awful (they could only remove one tooth, so I had to wait 12 days (on heavy painkillers, which didn't do much) while it healed before they removed another one). But that completely killed any dentist fear I might have, because I knew nothing could top this; any other dentist appointment would be a walk in the park compared to that.
I have a retainer sitting on the backside of my upper front teeth, it fell out and couldn't be glued back on, so off I went to have it replaced. You mentioned something about getting a mold and you couldn't do that. I may sound tough, but that was NOTHING. The clay-like substance is a bit weird to sink your teeth into, it left me with a slightly bitter taste in my mouth, and it did trigger my gag reflex a bit - but I kept comparing it to my wisdom teeth removal experience, so in my mind I was "psh, this is easy-peasy".
And actually when it was all done and the new retainer was in place, the dentist poked me and asked if I was asleep. I was just in the chair, eyes closed, mouth open and never flinched or moved a muscle during the procedure. (I wasn't asleep btw)
Sorry for the long post - I just want to say what I said at the start: You got this! :)

Hi Jodie, thank you for sharing your life with precious Key and your Mum with us. I’m a registered dental hygienist and while I haven’t seen your xrays or scans I believe the orthodontist has a great treatment plan for you. Rest assured that the space(s) where the missing tooth or teeth will be will close. I’m currently correcting some things I don’t like with Invisalign. My son has had traditional braces that included extractions. It just takes time, patience and compliance. As an adult it also takes money, lol. Best of luck to you.

I've had many teeth out, braces and retainers. You've got this. You won't feel any pain during and only a mild ache afterwards, that over the counter pain killers will get rid of. Just remember to follow all the aftercare instructions faithfully. I didn't ONE time and got an infection that WOULD NOT have happened had I followed orders. Don't let that idea stress you. Infections are rare and they don't hurt, they just slow down the healing. Good luck (not that you will need it).

You've totally got this, Jodie! A gap is no big deal, you have such a healthy, beautiful smile no one will even notice. And just make sure they give you lots of laughing gas and you won't care one bit. I always make a batch of chocolate pudding and mashed potatoes and get some silly movies picked out beforehand. Key isn't going to be happy with it, though 😬😂. Lots of love to you all - and that was a beautiful bag, holy crap! 💚🙏🕊

I had two on top and two on bottom 40 years ago pulled. To start my RR (railroad braces) the gaps will come together while your wearing your braces. And 40 years later I still have no gaps! You will be fine, don't be afraid.

I had my wisdom teeth out under general anaesthetic all at once. I had a removable brace from 10-15 as I swam competitively and the chlorine would have damaged the wires.. I swam for hours every day. My sons both had railway tracks but never wore their retainers. My eldest son was in the Army so he couldn’t wear his at night. You will be much better once the treatments start.

First time ever commenting on anything on you tube. Love your channels and lord Key!
Due to an accident at 5 yrs old, I had to have work done to my teeth off and (mostly) on until I was in my early 20ies. So, trust me when I say that you will be fine. It might be uncomfertable from time to time, but the end result is soooo worth it! :)

From a former braces wearer, I had a tooth taken out on the bottom too, my mouth was too small. Since you have done it before it won't be too bad. Don't worry, you will be fine.

Wisdom teeth are quite prone to coming in crooked. Most people get their wisdom teeth removed in their teens or twenties.

Jodie, I had to have one of my lower teeth removed because of overcrowding. One of the canines came in below my other teeth and made one sort of twist to the side. Because it was what they call an “anchor” tooth due to the canine’s size, they removed one of the teeth they’re wanting to remove for you.
When they removed mine, they gave me a mild anesthetic and I felt nothing until they woke me up. It never caused me pain while it healed. I didn’t have to do braces because the canine literally started moving itself into place within a few months.
So, don’t worry about the extraction. It should be painless. I hope my experience helps you not worry as much about yours. And yes, I was nervous but all was well. ❤

Be brave. You can do it. 😊💪💜

I had to have a premolar removed from the bottom left due to a recurring infection at the very bottom of the root. I have a permanent gap in that spot. The only bother I really have is that peanuts are the perfect size to wedge into that gap. Other than that, there have been no issues since the gum healed. You will do great!

Hi Jodie Boo, when talking, peoples gaze is mostly directed at the eyes of the person they're conversing with and since you have the most stunning eyes I don't think anyone will be able to tear their gaze away from them long enough to notice your teeth! Personally I think your wonky tooth is cute but I can appreciate why you'd want to get it fixed. Last year I had all four wisdom teeth removed before I could start radiotherapy. My teeth had been squished together as there wasn't enough room for my wisdom teeth when they came through. One had to be cut out, and that took the longest to heal, but the rest healed quickly, about 14 days. I took Paracetamol and Ibuprofen daily so there was minimal pain and swelling. It took a few months for my teeth to spread out but now they feel great. I hope the fitting goes well and you get the smile you yearn for and it improves your confidence. I know what it's like to have no self esteem and be wracked with anxiety. If I could wave a wand and take away your anxiety and insecurity and replace it with confidence I would. You are so clever, talented, and pretty! All the best ❤

I completely get what your feeling. I had the same thing done in my childhood, two molars removed on the top to make room. I didn’t have to have braces but a retainer for what felt like forever🤦‍♀️ glad I had it done so I don’t have to do it know 😊 best of luck and you will do great 🥰

I made a decision to always be grateful when I go to medical/dental appointments. To always say "thank goodness for (vaccines, antibiotics, pain pills/shots, etc.). To remind myself about the poor people who had to go through so much pain in their lives without having doctors/dentists or medicine as little as 100 years ago. Imagine how wonderful medicine is going to be in as little as a hundred years in the future. 🙂

Good to take care of yourself. In my experience the molds of the uppers are a lot worse if you have a gag reflex, the compound squirts out the back. Getting molds of the lowers are not a problem at all. If they decide to do it anyway you'll be OK.

Hey Jodie! I actually just started an orthodontics treatment myself! (just got my Invisalign shells installed this past Wednesday). You were actually one of the factors that inspired me to get it done, back when you talked about it in your video last December! I also have my top wisdom teeth still, and may have to have them removed at some point, but I've heard it's not nearly as bad as the bottom ones. Good luck with your treatment, and I hope it works out for you!

@Jodie Boo - I had braces through my teens, it wasn't till later that I had to have 3 teeth out of my bottom teeth. Two last ones on left, and one last one on right - keep using cotton pads with Corsodyl (that's what they recommended). No pain and healed very quickly. The local Anesthetic was a bonus - couldn't feel bottom lip drinking milkshake and eating jelly! The gap, you will get use to and forget after time.

I was incredibly self conscious of my teeth and finally got braces while in college. I had extra teeth and had to have four front teeth pulled for my braces to have room. The gaps filled in very quickly because your teeth want to fill them in. Once you get them fixed you'll feel so much more confident and less self conscious. It'll be so worth it.

Go for it, Jodie! Your teeth have to get you through age 100+ Need to be able to chew healthy food also known as “roughage” meaning you need good teeth, properly aligned, to chew! If you’re worried about this plan - ask for a 2nd opinion! You’re allowed! 😊❤

I had 6 teeth extracted when I was 11 as my big teeth were too big for my mouth. I had a brace for 2 years to pull my dracula fangs back. Back in the 70's most dentists were very happy to drill kids mouths with unnecessary fillings so you'll see alot of people my age with a mouth full. I haven't had any fillings for decades and even then they were to replace the old ugly metal ones. Dentistry is changing now and of course commanding big fees. They offered me the invisilign to straighten up my bottom teeth but I'm not interested in parting with more money as my teeth are perfectly healthy. Besides most of my money now is spent on my rescue dogs medical bills. Good luck with your treatment, it will definitely make you feel better once you see your perfect smile😊
