Right.. about that washer at 8:46 - and the torque spec lol I tightened it too hard and the washer split, unbeknownst to me. And it was leaking 1 drop at a time. So I had to do a 2nd oil change at 800km and put the original drain bolt back on 🤣 learn from my mistake.
Great video! Some things to keep in mind also: 1. Hand tighten with the drain plug. Don't crank it down hard or you'll crack the oil pan on these bikes.. and then you'll have way bigger issues on your hands. 2. I use Japanese FUMOTO locking check valve drain plugs on all my bikes. Makes the job way easier (more than it already is) and lots cleaner also. The FUMOTO FG7B is the right thread pattern for this bike.
Would love to see a at-home option for resetting the wrench but all I'm reading online is dealer only. Just picked up a 21 Tuono myself and will use this guide for my first change.
in Germany you have to do the service at the Aprilia dealer in the warranty period, otherwiese you lose the warranty and also an original filter must be used.
Great video. Thank you. So I've got one for you... Just picked up a 2021 myself... Share your tips on chain cleaning on this swingarm. I can see this being a maintenance nightmare. Don't get me wrong, I knew it would be. Haven't been able to find anything tips yet. Thank you for the great vids. Keep it up! -Mike
Thank you! The polished part of the swing arm and frame stays pretty clean as is. I have my bike ceramic coated so that helps. I never have to wash my bike. I spray Windex and clean it with a rag. Then I spray SC1 on it and it stays shiny! Same with the rest of the bike.
@@FT099 Thanks for the reply. I was referring to cleaning the chain properly. With the new swingarm, there isn't much room to get ahold of it. I've been using the Tirox 360 chain brush, though I have others. I don't use water on my bikes either. SC1 and Suspension Clean are my best friends in the cleaning department. That and 303 for most painted surfaces. Also, as best as I can tell the front and rear axles are 30 & 32mm. Can you confirm that? Thanks again.
My oil of choice is Motul 300V. There is a noticeable performance boost and overall engine smoothening when I use this oil. It does not last as long as other oils though (3000miles), I only do about that much mileage per year anyhow. I also use oem filter and crush washer everytime.
Just got the 2021 Aprilia Tuono 1100 v4. By any chance, do you know how to get the owners manual in digital format? It is impossible for me to read the paper manual, the size of the letters are extremely small, the manual is useless for me. Thanks for any help
Thank you for the video. This will help during my first oil change this coming weekend. I just got my 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4 last Saturday and already has 460 miles on it. This bike is a blast to ride. I am curious to see how to get the Service wrench removed if anyone has any workaround. Edit: I got the service due light removed from the nearby authorized dealer, charged me a small fee to do this..
Companies like to threaten void warranty. But it's illegal. You are allowed to perform work on your own vehicles as long as the maintenance record is maintained. The manufacturer has to prove that the defect to the vehicle was caused by your work to void warranty. For example, if I do an oil change myself (incorrecty), they cannot void the warranty on suspension and so on.
It is an SC-Project Exhaust. Check my other video installing it. I got it from AF1 Racing. Performance is the same because I have not adjusting the fueling or any other parameters yet.
Great video. This may seem crazy, but easy fairing removal is a big deal to me. My current bike is a gsxs 1000f and even an oil change is a pain due to the crazy fairing removal on that bike. I end of just loosing the belly pan joint and doing it gynecology style. Also do you think this would make a good track day bike all the way up to advance level? I’m currently just an intermediate, but I have dreams!
Yes, I'm the same way. My previous bike MT-09 didn't require removal of ANY fairings. Drain bolt and oil filter completely accessible right away. Yes, this Bike is totally capable of advanced level. Any bike is. I have ridden my R3 in advance group. The rider is what matters haha.
My 2022 just came in the other day, I’m having the Akra installed. If you had kept the OEM drain plug, would you just by another crush washer or does the OEM plug not require it?
Great video! thanks for sharing this with us! I just got my 2021 Tuono and was planning to do the oil change by myself. This video helps a lot :) btw I see your from CA too. Which province?
Bruh, dealer only haha. I'm at 17,000 km and I still have my first service light on 😂🤣 dealer can disable the light when I go in for the 20,000 km valve adjustment.
If it's a big deal to you, why didn't you cover it? it doesn't take long to drape a piece of aluminum foil over the hose, or if you're really anal like myself you can shape said piece of aluminum foil and funnel and direct the oil away from ground zero and completely miss the hose and clamp... just sayin..

That K&N oil filtered is totally outlawed in my area at the track. That "nut" on top has separated 2x on two different bikes and trashed the asphalt.

I’ve seen k&n oil filters burst
I’d only use stock

you learn to just ignore the wrench.
Good video. You could lower the front end by removing the padock stand to give the bike a better angle.
Odometer 1077! Just as the cc of the motor. 😃

The service station manual states the "use of the diagnostic tool" to reset the maintenance icon. I hope someone will know a alternative method.

Yeah, I'm really curious about that performance boost...
@@dlicen huge difference in overall feel, a lot smoother and engine seems happier.
@@chantouch Interesting definition of performance boost.
@@dlicen you’d feel the this performance boost if you’d ever have the nuts to rev your bike past 4500 rpm’s. Cheers.

Yes - can confirm! Who ever gave approval for this manual should be punished with 4 hours reading it☺️
Here's what you need: manuals.aprilia.com/
Grabbed my online e-manual today from there. Much easier to read!

@Max S No! Just keep any proof of oil change. I spoke to my dealer and it's not a problem.

What size is the drain plug, M22 x 1.5?
Yes it is.

Nice video - thank you!
PADS software at Aprilia dealerships is the only way to clear the service light
Good morning Full Throttle. Did you ever figure out how to get the service light off after the oil change? Thx.
No I did not yet. However, my 20,000km valve service is due, so I will talk it to the dealer and they can remove it haha
Black duct tape 😂😂

It's okay to use again. It is a good drain plug.

Chinese brand 🤣 I got it at princess auto. $100 for front and rear

So far so good. I'm over 20,000km
