Eh, ableism is a pretty strong way of putting it but I think it's at least logically consistent. Reverse racism on the other hand is essentially a weirdly stubborn refusal to accept colloquial terminology. Staunch digging of heels into "but racism only refers to a specific kind of structural racism" which people have adopted in an ad-hoc way because it's technically correct from one specific angle, ignoring how the term is actually used and perceived.

Certainly love Asmon's take on cars, which does translates into a lot of things: If you get something expensive, you have to spend a lot of mental (and sometimes emotional) energy to worry and take care of it; which is especially stupid if it doesn't really give you any kind of gratification for having it in the first place. It's like wow, you have an expensive car; how many people actually care? You gonna be able to put the pedal to the metal when you're using it? Or is some junk heap going the speed limit just like you are?

I agree to a certain extend. Sometimes spending a little more could give you better quality, which means it breaking less (if you use it normally ofc) and ending up with less trouble. I'd rather spent 1000 euro more for a car that is in a good condition and works well for the years to come rather than save those 1000 euro's and end up at the garage every other week. I'm not saying you need a 150K car. Just that going for the cheap options doesn't always work out in the long run either.

I grew up driving a 95 f150. And the best thing about it was fixing it was a breeze. I could literally go down to the junkyard and get a rear axel if I needed to for $50-$75 and easily swap it on. My wife has a 2014 Audi and she knows I can work on cars to an extent but when she got it I told her “I won’t be able to work on that thing so be prepared to spend at the dealership if something breaks”. There is truly something simplistic about owning an old car.

I literally cancelled buying a nice house because it was going to steal 30 years of my life and all my mental health came back to me when i realized how free I am without those shit credits that make you pay millions in interest, so that take on cars translates to a lot of life situations, I hated feeling that I was selling my soul to get something nice.
