I like this one. I do get a bit of baby powder scent but that’s probably just exposure from the factory. Rather nice I think. It puts me in mind of a Victorian fireside. I like it in a clay around Christmas sitting by my fake gas fireplace haha. Hope you are well Tommy
Thank you very much Brian, high praise indeed! Yeah having a good one, gradually sliding into Autumn now which suits my sensibilities a bit more haha. Hope you’re well mate!
Thanks, Tommy. Very fair review. I tried this one, and agree... the flavor is great. Your suggestion of the small pipe is perfect. Hope all is going well for you this Summer. Take Care. Ed
Thank you very much matey! Well, for me I’m too lightweight for it haha, but if sipped at a gentle pace it’s when you get the best from it. Have a good one bud 👍
Nice one Tom - speaking my language here. Yes, The Bird’s Eye is a great smoke and similar to the Dark Shag, albeit spicier. I love them both. Good too, as you suggest, as a strong blender to wake up lazier brews. This is one that I can see the old sea captains smoking, due to its strength and good burning abilities, on deck... Kendal Dark Flake is IMHO fuller and even stronger though…Best wishes mate from Pat (Space Cadet)….
Thought this might be one of the blends you’d appreciate Pat mate! Yeah I can imagine the old school trawler men puffing away on it on their way back to the coastline. Take care mate, Tommy
dark birdseye, don't smoke it often but adore it when I do. tried coniston cut plug for the first time today....holy shit that stuff is absolute power in a pouch...makes dark birdseye seem mild....
Great review Tommy, think I'll check this one out cos I likes a good shag (fnarr, fnarr!) and I've been looking for another strong tobacco (Revor plug being one of my faves). Thanks for the tip mate! All the best, Stephen
Hahaha cheers Stephen mate! Revor Plug is one of the best for sure mate, reminds me that I really should get around to reviewing it sometime soon. Be well my friend, Tommy
Excellent rundown on this one. You make it interesting but the strength scares me off......... Here in California there are other leaves to sample when wanting to pass out!
Thank you matey. We’ve all got different tolerances in fairness, but this one is just a tad too strong for me, and won’t get you as much a happy feeling as the other choice Californian leaf 😏
Great review man, I just smoked this stuff for the first time these weekend and would have to agree with just about everything you said. Personally I found it delicious but as you say quite strong. Did you get a bit of harshness at the back of the throat too?
Cheers brother! Yeah it does have a great flavour to it but man it packs a punch for me. Definitely - I get an odd flavour on the initial light and a little bit of harshness towards the end of the bowl sometimes but that could just as easily be me rather than the blend haha. Take care mate! Tommy
Will return to this very tobacco once again, when I tried this old timey tobacco for the first time ,the initial taste was great but the nicotine, kicked my ass nontheless, I think this very dark BirdsEye would make an excellent ' working hours tobacco when smoked in smaller French type pipes and when the time is short and as well if You need a quick and strong nicotine fix on the mornings )Best Greets and Thank You for reviewing, as always this was Superb,Paul Ps,Down the road could You consider doin an Ennerdale Flake?)
Glad you enjoyed it Paul! I can see it working well in a little opera pipe or a Falcon for a 20 minute smoke if you need the nic fix. I have tried Ennerdale and I really didn’t care for it but I went of Lakeland style aromatics quite a while ago so when I feel up to trying them again in the future I’ll consider it. Take care my friend, Tommy
I like it, but on occasion. I'll say - somehow after setting it down for a bit, picking it back up its almost twice as strong. Crazy. If you haven't tried it yet, the Kendal Kentucky is similar, bur a little smoother, with a touch less nicotine.
If you ever go to Trinidad They make you feel so very glad Calypso sing and make up rhyme Guarantee you one good real fine time Drinkin' Rum and Coca Cola Go down "Point Koo mah nah" Both mother and daughter singin' for the Yankee dollar A strong shag-cut - strong as the legendary Sherlock's shag in the Persian slipper? You are definitely in the he-man class. I don't know, it sounds a bit dangerous, Tommy. On a cold winter's evening with a good whiskey though, it might be just the thing. Best that you have a fine bank holiday weekend. Be well, stay awesome - peace
Cheers Skip! Well, it’s a pretty old blend recipe so you never know, it could have played some kind of inspiration to old Arthur CD. Yeah I think for a winter’s eve with a generous dram of Scotch you could do a lot worse. Have a great weekend mate! Tommy
Very good, straight forward review. Strong work.

Not so bad is it? Strong, for me at least, but sipped slowly it is rather nice
Excellent review Tommy. Thanks a lot. Have a great week-end. Cheers mate.
Cheers buddy, have a good weekend!
One of my favouerite tobacco reviewers on RUclips - always enjoying watching your videos, TT. Hope you're having a great summer!
Thank you very much Brian, high praise indeed! Yeah having a good one, gradually sliding into Autumn now which suits my sensibilities a bit more haha. Hope you’re well mate!

Thank you very much Ed! Yep all is well on this side of the pond my friend, hope it is for you too!
Take care,
Tommy
beautiful pipe love it
Thank you mate!
A good review sir, a great blend, consistent cut, packs easy why the hell hasn't everybody smoking this stuff? Have a good weekend Tom
Thank you very much matey! Well, for me I’m too lightweight for it haha, but if sipped at a gentle pace it’s when you get the best from it. Have a good one bud 👍
Cheers bank holiday weekend Brother

Grand mate - right up my street aye ... well done that man!!!
I must try this one, it sounds just right for me.
Stephen, I bet it will meet Your expectations, take my word on this,,Greets,P
I think you’d like it Stephen, you can get it from Smoke King 😁
Hi Tommy brilliant review i tend to faver flake and plug tobaccos because they burn slower have a good bank holiday
Cheers Chris mate, yeah I’m much the same, flakes tend to have a richer flavour to them too. Have a good en pal!
dark birdseye, don't smoke it often but adore it when I do.
tried coniston cut plug for the first time today....holy shit that stuff is absolute power in a pouch...makes dark birdseye seem mild....
I’ve only ever took a whiff of the Conniston and that was enough to put me off haha
@@TokingTommy it's a nice blend mate, yes the whiff can be off putting but it's a beautiful smoke
I might give that one a go. Has it been renamed? I can’t seem to find it anywhere
I think you’d appreciate it mate. No name change. Go on Smoke King, that’s where I picked it up from 👍
Great review Tommy, think I'll check this one out cos I likes a good shag (fnarr, fnarr!) and I've been looking for another strong tobacco (Revor plug being one of my faves). Thanks for the tip mate! All the best, Stephen

No worries Paul, be interested to see what you make of it

PN Westy ,Thank for this info
Yeah it’s a good one but only on occasion for me too. I’ll have to have a look at Kendal Kentucky, have you tried GH Dark Plug u/s?
Not the plug, but the flake. Is kind of shocking how many different kinds of "robust" G&H can blend. They make Big Boy blends.
If you ever go to Trinidad
They make you feel so very glad
Calypso sing and make up rhyme
Guarantee you one good real fine time
Drinkin' Rum and Coca Cola
Go down "Point Koo mah nah"
Both mother and daughter singin' for the Yankee dollar

Oh man that one sounds like it would blow yet socks off or should I say smoke yer socks off.
It’ll put hairs on your chest, make no mistake Prof
I think I shall skip this one, as my Nic tolerances are not as high as I like to think they are . lol
It’s still enjoyable but yeah, if you’re not a fiend for the nicotine maybe give it a swerve haha
I thought it was really nice. Strong but nice.
