I like the way you move quick and let experienced guitar players like me play a bit by ear instead of taking forever to show each individual note, too many of the RUclips instructional videos take forever and go too slow, yours is excellent!
I've learnt all my Jimi Hendrix (what I've got so far) from you and I'm progressing so much. It's helping me so much, the slides, fingerpicking and chord bends really progress guitar playing for me. Thanks man :)
don't just tell yourself your going to practice 1-3 hours a day, if you really want to learn this song I promise you will be motivated to nail it, learning shouldn't be looked at like work or a burden because you could be doing something else, and even if your a beginner anything is possible with enough practice! (you have to start somewhere)
Leaving my comment here as a landmark to come back to for when I can play the whole song, right now, I can barely play the intro, but i will do this. I will.
A quick tip: If you are using an acoustic and the barre chords on higher frets are becoming an issue, just use the voicings; like we know how to play A major in standard, play the same but this time, index finger spanning over the 2nd fret and so on.
Yes, Dylan wrote it. But he specifically gave it to Jimi to play as he saw fit, because he just knew what a fantastic job Jimi would do with this piece. And Dylan sure got that exactly right.
I've learned this song in a week, still working on the tempo but i learned the song, you can't really have people tell you how long its gonna take man, just put the effort in it and i promise you will get an award back :)
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for the lessons. It's good to see how far you've come. (I can tell this is an early video) You should be extremely proud. Keep it up. Do more SRV.
If you guys are having trouble with the bar chords you can play the same chords as power chords to get the rhythem down, it definitley dosent sound EXACTLY like the song but it still sound pretty close
I believe the first set of 5 bends on the 14th fret, second string should be a set of 4 bends (and maybe a pause?) instead. Listen to the original song and let me know what you think. I apologise if my terminology is false as I am a total noobie. Great tutorial btw. It's very useful that you played the whole thing slowly in the end.
you, by far are one of my favorite guitar teachers on youtube, thanks for the lesson you really helped me out, i like how you take your time in showing us this, good job man
I think that should always be covered in a lesson especially if you are going to go into enough depth that the guitar is tuned down a step, you should touch on what pedals or amp adjustments could be used to get close to the sound of the song. No it does not have to be exact but something would be nice. Great lesson though, you are one of the best on RUclips as far as I am concerned.

You think you can learn it about like 2 weeks if you practice maybe 1-3 hours a day? Because im going to play for some teachers at a Highs School of Music, I'm Swedish, and I really need to learn this song so I can get in, because if this song doesn't impress the teachers, nothing does! ***** It is definitely not five. I agree with adding some personalisation to your music, but not in the context of a guitar lesson when teaching a specific song.
Alexandre Coulombe that's debatable, but indeed, talent is like what skill your best in when your born, what your comfortable, but if you have no guitar talent, and singing talent, you can practice guitar till it seems like you got talent.
Inevitable Truth practice makes perfect. I know I taught myself how to play and how to read music. Now I can play anything I can read and classical music has a mountain of music for anyone who can read music. And practice of course.... Lol.
AndréA Klass The truth is practice makes perfect. Hendrix took his guitar everywhere with him, And always had it in hand. It's the same reason why bruce Lee was so good at martial arts. Bruce Lee would practice/train non stop. Even while watching t.v he would shadow box, Or do push ups. I feel like it's insulting to say they are just talented. Because majority of people who knew or lived with Hendrix (like ronnie wood) Say he practically slept with his guitar. So in other words.... Practice, Practice, Practice.
+The Lone Hunt depends on what you like and what fits you. For a hendrix sound and a small price the stratocasters from squier are a really good deal. but i'd recommend you testing several in a local shop to find out if they fit you.

You've probably learnt how to barre by now, but try rolling whatever finger you're using to barre a little, and make sure the finger is close to the fret line. Also, make your hand kind of like a clip, with your thumb flat on the back of the neck.
