Dude thank you so much for these videos I have this exact problem with mine and i was wondering what was wrong, I got it from my grandpa he got it back in the 60s and im now realizing there’s no belt 😭 this was very helpful
I don't recall...it likely was since it's very common on nearly all R2Rs with a similar design. I just de-gunked a TEAC A6300 and X10R with gummy pinch roller assemblies...videos will be released once edited.
Much easier way to replace capstan belt. Remove diagonal bracket at rear of capstan shaft and feed belt through to the front. Also two positions for belt, if running fast put on smaller more rearward portion of drive wheel.
Since you was that deep into it, you should've deoxit and relubed everything like the pots and mechanical linkage/pivots... these decks was built like tanks and properly gone through will last another 40 years
I won't always capture everything I do on camera...cleaning pots and lubing the main problem points are typically done (unless the unit is good to go).

Good to hear!
Was the pinch roller linkage gummy? Very common on these a-4010s

I see that the right reel table has some shims but the left one does not? is that how it came to you? or did i miss something?
That's how it came to me.
@@millervintagehifi3034 Ah ok. Then maybe mine is ok then but i will find out for sure once i have it in operation.
Thank you
Shadetree tech here took one hour to change belt. Used manual was a piece of cake.
I have another two in the queue once the shop sells some R2Rs. I had some other feedback on a shortcut I'm going to try :)

Thanks for the tip!
The two position for the belts is so if you're in European countries with 50Hz or America 60Hz
