- Clips of Dallas Cowboys greats Ed Too Tall Jones and Harvey Martin from their rookie and sophomore year, respectively .
NFL Films Music- a track that has long been a mystery has been officially identified as Vikings Theme - Tony Luisi.
This brought back memories. Back around 1975 my father lived in the same apartments as Harvey Martin and Ed too tall Jones. I was maybe 7 , and Harvey lived in the building next to my father's, I went and knocked on the door and asked for an autograph. I was 7 and didnt know better. Harvey had a few people over but took the time to go out to his copper colored Cadillac and pop the truck and gave me a handful of Cowboys stuff and a NFL football. Then he said Ed lives over in this building and he walked me over to Ed's , then walked me to my building. Thanks guys.
Tony Luisi always has funky compositions.
The only footage that should be showing during this piece is Joe Kapp and the Purple People Eaters.
Both #79 Harvey Martin and #72 Too Tall Jones should be in the Hall of Fame
I would say definitely for Harvey. He was a consistent all out beast of a pass rusher, and quick on the run. And, maybe for Too Tall. Given Jones ability to cloud the passing lane, like no other DL before or since, yes.
No doubt
You know it.
Yes people " Oh"Yeah they both should've been put in the Hall of Fame by now.
It's absolutely 💯travesty
Harvey should be in. Too Tall is Hall of Very Good for me. Consistent quality, but never elite. He had 10 fewer sacks than Harvey Martin but played 5 more seasons.
Ridiculous that they are both not in the Ring Of Honor for the Cowboys. I wish Gil Brandt or somebody would lobby to clueless Jerry to get them in.
Too tall Jones .. great football player
Vikings theme Tony Luisi
1:46
When it's morning and my mom makes me get up for school but I say 5 more minutes
Mosgamers. Ok
Ahhhhhh shut up. Rise up go Falcons
Ryan Elliott 28-3 go cowboys!
Total travesty of justice that Jerrah put Charles Haley in the Cowboys Ring of Honor over Harvey Martin & Too Tall. No dis to Haley at all but he only played half of his career in Dallas & both Harvey & Too Tall played their ENTIRE career in Dallas. Both men played in some of the biggest games in franchise history & played very well !!!! Harvey Martin might have been the best DE in pro football from 1977-1979 !
DON'T EVEN!!! Brings a tear to my eye every time I think of it. Jerry Jones has NO CLUE . I know to think Haley is in there is a disgrace, fucking JEFFCOAT deserves to be in our ROH over Haley. PEOPLE MIA FROM OUR ROH (GIL BRANDT,MARTIN, TOO TALL and MY TWO HEROES OF ALL TIME CHARLIE WATERS AND BILL BATES. Hoenstly, you can NOT have Meredith and soon to be Romo in our ROH and not DANNY WHITE. It was NOT Danny's Fault....that play in 1983 fine but Danny had a great career for us and Landry NEVER should have played Hogeboom.
Jerry only cares about his era.
@@Jamesmax22 very much agree.
Totally agree. Harvey and Ed, and Jethro Pugh get no accolades. All 3 should be mentioned more. Harvey should be in the HOF as should Drew Pearson. They were in the debate as the best at their positions for most of their careers.
The Cowboys played just 14 games in the 1977 season and have listed Martin with 23 Sacks an "unofficial" NFL statistic at that time...but could easily be reviewed..
To Tall and Martin at least should be in the Cowboy ring of honor, 2 forgotten greats !!
Every single QB hit in this video would get you flagged today.
Odd to see Jones and Martin playing on the opposite sides that I remember them playing from back in late 70s and 80s
It is sad that nearly none of these plays would be allowed today
1:36 roughing the passer 80 yard penalty
That’s when you could tackle a quarterback
A tough tandem, for years to come. Played in 3 Super bowls and 6 NFC championships, together.
That Tennessee State team had, at one time, Joe Gilliam, Joe Turkey Jones and Too Tall. Tennessee State turned out more pros at that time than Tennessee and Vandy.
Ed Too Tall Jones the only defensive end who never had roughing the passer flag in his entire career
Too tall. An too mean. Two much. Legends
The god of Arm tackles
Harvey Martin should be in the Hall of Fame!!
absolutely!
It's PATHETIC how these guys aren't in the Ring of Honor and the Hall of Fame 😠
1974 COWBOYS! Actually they began on opposite ends that they would be known for.
How ironic it is that Harvey was at left end & Ed was at right end.
1:36 = flag in today’s NFL. Wish the game was still allowed to be played this way.
Go watch some old-school football from before they had face-masks (which were added around the 1950's, and rules regarding them lagged behind several years, until after they realized it injured player's necks if their face-mask was grabbed). Nobody goes for the face or leads with their head back then. They go for a clean wrap-up around the waste, and generally are trying not to get hurt. The addition of all this protective gear allows them to put themselves into more exciting situations, under the premise that "the helmet will protect you" - it doesn't protect as good as it looks like it would, so they have to have special rules to make up for the false sense of safety the protective gear provides. Today's game IS wayyyy more violent than it used to be, and way more exciting. Seriously, go watch an old leather-head game and be honest, does that look more exciting?
Tony Luisi - "Doomsday".
I don't know why this particular track is so hard to find online. It's the song used in NFL Films (with the late great John Facenda narrating) for the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV vs. the KC Chiefs
It's been confirmed as Tony Luisi "Vikings Theme"
@@b17bomber How was this track name confirmed? Do you know what NFL Films library LP it's on?
@@robertlamb759 It was never pressed to an NFL Music Library record. It however, is confirmed by the new site. nflmusic.nfl.net
Tony Luisi "Vikings Theme" Track ID NFL0381.
Yeah, I remember it as Doomsday as well, and the one used in the Super Bowl IV film is a slightly different version.
Love hearing John Facenda!
What a perfect voice!
When I was a young boy playing pop warner football in the ups I would wake up on Saturday and Sunday mornings and watch highlights and hear John Facenda.
Great memories!
I will 2 apologize 2 #7 Falcons sorry but thats Too Tall he's Too Tall and 4 #79 Destruction also
Song is from Super Bowl 4
do you happen to know the name , composer and album on which it appears?
No idea
b17bomber Dave volsky has it
@John Pottorgg I said that the song was SB & Nothing else
Doomsday defense!
"79" was Harvey Martin..
"Too Tall" was "72.."
Great vid., thanks for posting.
Anyone know the name to the music clip?
It remains unknown- almost certain that it's composed by Tony Luisi. It was used a bunch in 1974 and 1975.
33 secs Nice to see Lilly assisting in a sack
I met Too Tall when I was 10 or 11. He was sitting down and I had to look up at him. Shaking his hand was like shaking hands with a giant.
D.i d I s e e s o m e o n e d I e a t t h e e n d
1:34 Clinton Jones: "TAKE IT IN OFFENSE!! TAKE IT IN !!"
These was used in the Super Bowl IV episode.
Was that Too tall goin toe to toe with D. Dierdorf???
From SB 4 hilights
so why isn't it associated with the Vikings? it originally aired for SB IV in 1970.
Right, the Super Bowl with Chiefs and the Vikings. Just because it's called Vikings Theme doesn't mean it has exclusivity to them. Even Autumn Wind/Raiders Theme was used for many spots in the 70's not pertaining to the Raiders.
Sure wish I could find this track without narration. This is an NFL Films Music Classic.

We are all still trying to find the composer to this great song. I think it is Tony Luisi.
It looks like it's been Identified as "Vikings Theme" by Tony Luisi.
@@b17bomber I thought so Bomber.
great stuff
Tony Luisi - Doomsday.
Most likely sure that it’s Luisi- although that’s never been verified. The track title Doomsday stems back to a placemarker title from the yahoo group days.
For one thing, it´s not to be found in any NFL Music Library disc featuring Luisi´s pieces. Still to check NFL 114, the only one that I don´t have.
José Teixeira it’s not on there I have nfl114 LP
If Tom lady played during that time, he must be dead
No, i think he'd just quit.
To bad there's no soundtrack with out the talking
Omg THOSE WERE THE COWBOYS BCK IN THE DAY THEY JUST PLAYED THE GAME ..... NOT LIKE TODAY WHERE YOU HAD TO PAY GAZILLION DOLLARS FOR A PLAYER THEY PLAYED WITH IHEART
