la verdad es hermosisima grace slick,no paro de ver sus videos con todo el poder que despide su voz, los veo una y otra vez sin cansarme. Su rostro es hermosisimo y es mas que bonita.Me gustaria que se enterara jeeee.saludos claudio
@DirkjeA yeah, I think you were thinking of the book "Go Ask Alice" which was written five years after this song, that girl btw died of a heroin overdose. This book is based on Alice in Wonderland. Go Ask Alice's name was actually based on this song. the girl in the book wasnt named alice. it also probably wasnt in the news since the book was an anonymous diary and its speculated whether its real or fiction.
She was stunning. I think she is potentially the hottest woman that ever existed in music. But the charisma and talent is also a massive attraction i think.
shes truly amazing, most hot girls dont get on stage after spending no time at all trying to look awesome. grace doesnt seem to care as much about that. she just dcided to whip out her extreme hotness whenever she wants and not give a shit when she isnt feeling it that day
@porkfrieddylan It was a documentary called "Allice is dead" about an english girl that died of a heroin dose. I remember, because I was in highschool than and we got a drugsinformationclass that week wich was a great deal about her. But had nothing to do with the song as I know now. Thanks for your kind reply's btw.
@Intotheorchard Again you are right, I had to go back to see what comment you ment, and I was wrong ofcourse. The book was way before the song about Alice, the paralel between the real Alice and Alice from the book is a coincidence, well used by Jefferson Airplane. But yes, the book, by Lewis Carrol, is a great deal older, my mother used to read to me when I was very little, so I should have known.
@Intotheorchard You are right, but the working of mushrooms is wellknown since ages, and that is what Alice in Wonderland took.. The Alice in the song, is not the same as Alice in the story. The Alice in the song existed in real life and was a real girl, that died of the use of LSD
@porkfrieddylan I surrender, you are right! It has clearly to do with the book. I red the lyrics of this song and I can only say I got it completely wrong. I do remember however when I was 14, this girl, Alice died of a drugsoverdose in England, and in those days this was all over the news in Holland (where I live) cause those things were a big issue back than. I must have combined the two somehow and always thought that the song was for her, but I know better now, thanks to all of u guys.
I always found Airplane to be a better studio band than live - though Jorma and Jack are an exception. Seen those two in concert quite a few times and they still rock!
I generally find Airplane as a whole to be a better studio band than live. By themselves, Jorma and Jack rock on stage. Seen them live quite a few times
i don't think that record labels give a fuck about videos on youtube. one time some parody of a song was removed because of copyrights, but even the original band (Opeth) and label approved it.
Wow, it IS 1/2 step down! Could've tuned down but looks like they played in F to help her with the higher notes at end... maybe not best but I still think it was good performance. Hvy touring (& partying) = hard on voice. Like it - keepin it real :)
uhhhhhhhhhhhh, no tengo ganas de explicar porque, tas contento con el triunfo de barack? ehh vamo vamooooooooooo el grone! un capo, a ver si encuentran un nuevo rumbo para su alicaido pais...
@duncanengler Hahaha Tat's a great tale, dude. Actually, it's not a bad version of the song. They've just dropped the acidy feel of the tune and turned it up a notch with a more rolling groove. It's just a bad recording and their PA system at the gig probably didn't help much either.
@Toushirouluv Could be just so. the story is based on real facts. Alice took LSD with her schoolfriends and died because of it. Then Jef. Air. did this song about her, the book was later
I mean that kids mostly like to get high because it's illegal and then sometimes they fall into "abuse" of drugs. But if drugs were not illegal then kids would do it less and with more respect and precaution, and drug dealers wouldn't be able to cut drugs with other stuff because government would be in charge of the sales.
Yes it's true that there is much to say and everybody (for me) needs to get a little more freedom, the fact that people have to work just to survive and not to live is unacceptable (you don't even have the right to live in alone in the forest without bothering anyone). It's very hard to have decent conversation by writing but it does the job for now (until this becomes a real debate).
You know that they knocked ppl down at Woodstock when theywanted to promote politics? So just leave it (and the spelling game as well) and be grateful cos this is really great and rare stuff!
@Incephaly This was about a real story, a teenage girl named Alice that went into LSD with her friends from school and died because of it. So no need to be high to write such a song....
@zephranna01 I would direct the idiot to Mao's great leap forward that claimed about 40 million deaths then Stalin and Lenin who both managed to rack up 20 million a piece. There is a great book available for download called 'The Irrational Atheist" that quantifies to massive scale of atheist slaughter in the chapter titled 'The red Hand of Atheism'. 10000 is nothing compared to what Atheisms heavy hitters managed.
@MsSemiautomatic Yeah, but people are paying to hear her perform. I like Grace, don't get me wrong, she's an incredible talent, but it's like going to the bakery and buying stale bread. "Hey man I was tired...Sorry" says the baker. Grace should have been more professional. No excuses.
@stonefreeJMH I agree you have the right to believe in whatever you want but some people just won't agree and will want everyone to believe the same thing. I chose to believe in life and in what I know so that no one can tell me that I don't believe in HIS god. Good luck with faith man :) I hope you find god.
@zephranna01First of all don't insult anyone like that it's lame. Second : if you make the addition of all the big slaughters in the world and see how many were based on religious "reasons" then you would find a percentage of what ? 75 , 80 % ? Of course the slaughters you talk about happened in the 20th century so the ones I was talking about happened hundreds of years ago so let's say we "evolved" on religious differences and that the law now protects the atheist.
Mankind since it learned how to talk has been taking ALL kinds of DRUGS and it's just for 4 reasons : 1st It's bloody funny ^^, 2nd You see reality with the perception of nature, 3rd Religion (1st time this thing is useful), 4th and last reason...Creativity, I mean don't even hope for good rock songs if there's not at least one or two acids behind it. Talented people sometimes only need weed. Drug isn't illegal because it's dangerous, It's dangerous because it's illegal.
Poor Marty Balin looks bored. It was near his end with the group. He was once the leader of this group then he had to take seat to Grace Slicks' sometimes average singing.
Yes I have to agree this is one of the worst performances of that song I've seen. I'm a great Grace Slick fan but I think she was a tad burnt out on this performance.

I love the beginning - that girl is totally baked, haha!
shes truly amazing, most hot girls dont get on stage after spending no time at all trying to look awesome. grace doesnt seem to care as much about that. she just dcided to whip out her extreme hotness whenever she wants and not give a shit when she isnt feeling it that day

She's at the beginning of her pregnancy. This is June of 70 and she gave birth in January of '71.

@DirkjeA nope, the song is based on alice and wonderland, and you cant die from acid. its un-overdose-able
I was there :)
just this concery they have one ithat sounds perfect
@Intotheorchard You are right, but the working of mushrooms is wellknown since ages, and that is what Alice in Wonderland took.. The Alice in the song, is not the same as Alice in the story. The Alice in the song existed in real life and was a real girl, that died of the use of LSD
My favorite is "Monterey" festival!!
@porkfrieddylan I surrender, you are right! It has clearly to do with the book. I red the lyrics of this song and I can only say I got it completely wrong. wish I was a JA band member back then!
Let's talk about the music, shall we? I have never heard them perform it like that before.
I generally find Airplane as a whole to be a better studio band than live. By themselves, Jorma and Jack rock on stage. Seen them live quite a few times
OOPS! Grace cuts off Jormas instrumental intro and the look on his face shows he is not too happy?
i don't think that record labels give a fuck about videos on youtube. one time some parody of a song was removed because of copyrights, but even the original band (Opeth) and label approved it.
I love this song. Were you ever on drugs in the 1970's?
I agree.
YEah, but I've heard other versions from 1970 that were fantastic. Just seems this night they were sleepy.
Diggin Jorma!
Wow, it IS 1/2 step down! Could've tuned down but looks like they played in F to help her with the higher notes at end... maybe not best but I still think it was good performance. Hvy touring (& partying) = hard on voice. Like it - keepin it real :)
Grace is high as a kite in this video
Is this Grace Slick? I thought that Spanky from Spanky and the Gang took
her place when Grace left the group?
uhhhhhhhhhhhh, no tengo ganas de explicar porque, tas contento con el triunfo de barack? ehh vamo vamooooooooooo el grone! un capo, a ver si encuentran un nuevo rumbo para su alicaido pais...
I´m in love with the blonde girl dancer, at the begining.
@duncanengler Hahaha Tat's a great tale, dude. Actually, it's not a bad version of the song. They've just dropped the acidy feel of the tune and turned it up a notch with a more rolling groove. It's just a bad recording and their PA system at the gig probably didn't help much either.
what? never heard of that haha
but there is one where she rants about chocolate cookies
come on pete got mad because abbie just went onto HIS stage while HE was performing.
It sounded a whole lot better from where I stood.
unreals - that is so very debateable. ( first of all, do we NEED another government program? )
@Toushirouluv Could be just so. the story is based on real facts. Alice took LSD with her schoolfriends and died because of it. Then Jef. Air. did this song about her, the book was later

Grace RULES!
1969 was the year everyone male and female permed their hair.
Yes it's true that there is much to say and everybody (for me) needs to get a little more freedom, the fact that people have to work just to survive and not to live is unacceptable (you don't even have the right to live in alone in the forest without bothering anyone). You must understand that the person(s) recording this are held accountable as well.

So no need to be high to write such a song....

to the bakery and buying stale bread. "Hey man I was tired...Sorry" says the baker.

sounds like she wasn't feeling good and they dropped down a step for her..
Maybe too much cocaine that night.
@stonefreeJMH I agree you have the right to believe in whatever you want but some people just won't agree and will want everyone to believe the same thing.
