I love how clear and concise ALL your videos are! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us all. Sending you love 🤍🤍🤍
Just updated to Sonoma and really enjoying it so far. I've used your very helpful tips, thanks!
another great video, thanks. Congrats to both of you on the arrival of your twins. Life will NEVER be the same again..
Excellent video, as always. Your explanations are proper and honest. 😉
I found this extremely useful. Many thanks for taking the time to create the video, and share it with fellow Mac users.
Thank you! I’ve just updated my laptop to Sonoma, and your video has been really helpful!
I have watched 8-10 videos about Sonoma introducing, but personally, I think this video is best for me. It is clear and useful, I learned a lot of tips from you , thank you,
Thank you very much for calmly & easily explaining things. You are soothing to listen to, & I always learn something new. As avid Apple users, you have helped expand how we use our devices. 😊 Thank you
Excellent high level overview of key features thanks as always!
Excellent, succinct and very professional. Great work!
Highly informative as usual, thank you xx
Im so happy and excited for the new os update sonoma is such a huge upgrade i luv all the effects and add ons such a beautiful software update i luv widgets so helpful
I’ve always loved your informative and easy-to-learn videos. Thank you for the work you do.
Thank you Horacio. Appreciate the support 👍
Thank you Justin. Appreciate the support 👍
nice channel im glad i subscribed when i did very clear, friendly & professional & informative keep up the good work, ive just subscribed to you newsletter as well
really good summary, thanks
unrelated, & I think I speak for everyone when I say THANK YOU for keeping your intro's short, sweet & right to the point! 🤍
Nice, straight to the point. Thanks
just updated and everything became more responsive!
One of the biggest changes for me is the ability to change the sample rates in the Audio Midi App so I can play Apple Music lossless and High Rez at its native rate. Previously this was impossible on the Mac Mini M2 but strangely possible on my Mac Mini 2014 models.
New ways to do the same old things. Moving widgets from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen is not innovation, it’s desperation. A house of cards built on hyperbole. Let’s admit it folks, software has peaked.
wait what, M1 Pro user here. I did that since 2020
Brilliant! Thank you for sharing this!
Sonoma is great and all, but what I really want to see a video on is your DualUp monitor in the background! I'm interested to see someone's first-hand experience with it with macOS, I wanted to use one as a third monitor for my Windows setup, but want to see how macOS handles it as well with scaling and whatnot.
Another excellent video. Thank you.
Bloody hell mate another great video keep them coming
Hi, thanks for the fun video it’s a nice and helpful one!
Great video - I want to get updated now! Ha ha! So glad to see the dynamic wallpapers.
Sonoma (and the new iOS) can now look at a picture of a finished dish, and call up recipes to make it! I tried that with a pic of my lunch yesterday (a stir-fry that I just kinda made up) and it came up with four beef and one chicken recipes that were very, very close to what I made. Amazing!
How do you do this?
These new wallpapers are beautiful
Great video. Clear explanation. I love your lighting setup.
I would love to learn how to create this light and calming setup. Please share any tips
Thank you 😊
I ❤your english pronunciation, it makes, to a non natural english speaker, so easy to understand what you are saying 👍🙏. Uk? Anyway, congratulations my friend. New subscriber here. 👍 Thanks for your work 🙏
I love the Widgets on Mac!
love the widgets. I saves me from having 3 or 4 full apps open clogging up my screen, my mind, my life
Thank you. I really appreciate this type of video, as I am not one to go through all the settings to see which does what in a new version, or even which ones are indeed new. This saved me a lot of time. Adding widgets was the one for which I paused the video and updated on the fly. The web app and profiles are interesting and I'll investigate those more soon.
He always has very informative videos and I like his approach too. One thing you may be interested, (or not) When Apple releases a new version of macOS, after login within a few minutes a notification will pop-up titled "What's New - " its a little guided tour of what's new in the new version. Typically, only seen in changes from say 13 (Ventura) and 14 (Sonoma).
Thanks!
Fantastic content! Re Notes to pages - Can you do the reverse I.e Pages to Notes? AND keep the formatting? (Can you also do it on iPadOS?) thanks again, fantastic channel!!
I’d like to see #tags being common across all apps (Reminders, Notes, Files) and of course devices.
#actuallyuseful 👍
I understand there has been great updates over the years but as someone who has been using MacOS since 2004 I can say this is easily the most pumped Ive been for an update in years. Widgets has transformed my desktop into what I always dreamed it could be. The Aerial screen savers plus the sheer number and quality of them are also something Ive been wanting on desktop for ages.
Im late but congratulations on the twins. I am glad mom and babies are doing well
Hi, thanks for the great content. Just curious if you use Safari as your default browser. I use Firefox just because that’s what I’m used to. Is there any advantage to switching? Thanks again.
Keep your great videos coming 🙏 Can you recommend a product for keeping my Mac clean - for example a product lige CleanmyMac?
Great video! I just updated to Sonoma and, for some reason, when I open a Finder window or my browser, the window now opens at a smaller size... roughly 75% of my screen size. Is there a way to set a default size in Sonoma so my windows all open at the same size? I used to be able to drag the window to my preferred size and it would stay that way after I opened and closed it, but now it does not. I have the 13" Macbook Air so having the window at the largest possible size is important. Thank you.
great video
Widgets on the desktop is all I’ve wanted out of MacOS for years now 🎉
Thank You for making this video. I was wondering what , if anything, about sonoma would be worth 'upgrading to'. I can now confidently stay with Monterey for a little while longer.
Still on Monterey and ready for Ventura
can i get the link to that airport wallpaper? it looked so cool!
The first 2 were available 15 years ago, on my Mac book, Apple just recycling, I loved widgets.
great info! I tried the command spacebar on my macbook air. Nothing happened for spotlight..
Mate, what microphone are you using? Wicked sound!
Is there a way to shuffle selected wallpapers/screensavers on Mac & mix with my photos? Love some of the screensavers, but not all, & I want to see my family & dogs also!
Yes do when is it coming to the iMac?
Wow, you had your finger on the “Publish” button! 😂 Good job!
You can schedule to upload the video to youtube.
Love your videos. So calm and a great speaker! I’m too ADHD for that parking lot wallpaper, though :D
Any changes to Photos so we can separate RAW files from J Pegs and just delete one of them? - thanks for the video
This video is the best I've watched on Sonoma . Tim speaks much more clearly and a little slower than some so this oldie can follow better. I must say I am upset though because the little emoji on my Home Screen has become much smaller and is no longer animated . Wish there was a way to restore it .
where can I download desktop wallpaper like yours of the airport from above?
Useful and informative as always. Sad that changes in this version are so small.
It's a rather mature OS at this point. There are many dozens of tweaks and changes that optimise and make life a little easier. What sort of major changes would you like?
@@leebeeskee Agree, it’s almost perfect. Maybe I could imagine some basic program changes. For example Mail. For many years I’ve been waiting for improvements in work with attachments. It’s almost impossible to work with a huge number of files. Especially if your colleague uses Outlook. In other programs like Spark and Outlook attachments are located in special areas, but here it is just in a body of mail. As a marketer, I can send and re-send 10 images of the new banner, and you can’t imagine what a mess the threat of my colleague's Outlook
@@alex_g087 Oh wow, I finally read a comment from someone who has the same problem as me! I always wondered how people can work with apple mail... well, most probably don't work with it at all and are justing using it for private stuff... but i work in a print media agency and sending lots of attachments all the time and that these are all displayed inside of the mail is just stupid, so you have to use Outlook. Apple should add an option to have them shown inline or as an attachment, in the "special area" how you called it. I'm wondering why these basic things aren't adressed, this should have been fixed years ago. Well, we waited 10 years to have multiple timers on iPhone...
@@alex_g087 You hit on a very good one here. One of my complaints as well in the apple OS ecosystem. My other one is ability to select any email and make a meeting/calendar event easily with the contents of the email in the Notes section of the appointment including attachments. If it can be done I haven't found out how easily at least. I don't want to have to drag and drop when working on a laptop without dual monitors. Just click the option and build the appointment with full details not a link back to the email that will not pass to outlook users.
@@alex_g087 what nonsense. it's the best update in years.
9:18 note-to-pages export was available already in ventura if not earlier, for me it was one of ways to export to local txt
Does the Spotify widget have to be on an iPhone to work or can it be on an iPad instead? So much of this stuff seems like stuff that is already on Windows or even ChromeOS, like multiple profiles , passkeys, PWAs, and Notes to Pages is eerily similar to Google Keep's Copy to Docs. It will be nice to finally get these on my Macbook. I also can't wait until Apple invents touchscreens for Macbooks.
Looking forward to updating but need to wait until it’s a go from Adobe as that’s my work environment
Hahaha "Tim Apple" ! That was awesome :) LOL
Still want a digital clock as a widget. Stupid that Apple have a clock face widget but not digital time widget.
About to update tonight. As for the Notes/Pages sharing, you can already get good results by copying and pasting. All the formatting goes across.
I'm looking for a SIRI upgrade. This is a really good video and frankly this looks like an update that will change the way I use my Mac. Wallpapers and widgets . .. do not make me excited by this update - it looks quite cosmetic - maybe I'll feel differently after upgrading ... but I so think the video conferencing option is really cool, I'm intrigued to see how this really works in real-life on Zoom. That said, I use Zoom on my work laptop and hardly at all on my Mac. So another 'use the computer differently' scenario.
Would you recommend clean instal or update?
How is this update in old Intel MacBook? 2020 base model 256gb 8ram? Any crashes. Worth upgrading? I’m still stuck with Big Sur 😂
I have question regarding the wallpaper and screensavers: I tried to set the Sonoma wallpaper, and have one of those new landscape screensavers. Once I set the wallpaper and then select a landscape screensaver (one of those new moving ones), the wallpaper gets replaced by the landscape foto. It seems you can only choose one or the other. Am I right?
Hi PHT, I am currently on Monterey. Would you recommend going to Ventura and then to Sonoma, or jumping straight to Sonoma. Many thanks. Terry Davis
Shame there’s no way to add a Spotify widget without an iPhone :(. Unless I’m unaware of something?
thank U
Convert notes to pages - so basically copy and paste with a specific button assigned to it?
Are the wallpapers low resolution? I have one of the LA wallpapers on and it doesn’t look HD.
I think you inherited all the Apple information coverage from Rene Ritchie, now that he has moved to Google. You are definitely the best RUclipsr covering and how all their apps on the platforms work! Thank you for another informative video.
He moved? I was wondering what happened to him.
This and Macmost are my two favorites…
I'm just happy Safari now supports favicons. I know it is simple but it has been missing for so long.
very useful
In Sonoma, is there any way to change the blinking cursor placeholder back to black instead of the new yellow (which I can't see)? TIA
How did you manage it to get a Spotify widget ? I even got the app on my Mac but the widget just don't appear in the menu
One small thing nobody is talking about -> open mail app and if you received some file (like *.pdf) and drag it to desktop -> it will have a small letter icon after the name, if you click this icon -> it will open the letter, from where you dragged it
Is there a way I can use Apple's USB SuperDrive with my IMAC? I have Sonoma 14.2.1. I have tried but the SuperDrive can't get power from the IMAC.
Hi there, a couple of my staff have reported random issues (with Zoom, Dropbox, internet connection) since upgrading to Sonoma. Have you heard of any issues like that? I'm trying to troubleshoot it, but I am clueless. I personally updated to Sonoma without issues so far.
The BEST IN THE GAME ❤❤️🤙⚡️⚡️👊🙌🍀
I tried using the Personal Voice feature. At a basic level, it worked, but every app that I wanted to use it with, including Apple's own voice-enabled apps like Siri and Shortcuts, would not recognize the new voice. They let me choose from dozens of old voices, but not the new Personal Voice. Why not? Why doesn't Apple support it in their own apps? Or am I doing something wrong?
Never found spotlight search to be a particularly useful feature at all. When I type in a search it gives me options, when alls I want is a web search. Or maybe I'm just using it wrong. But I like all the other new features, and still enjoy the MacBook for my personal use case.
everyone has been saying that widgets that appear on your phone will work on Mac even if there isn't a Mac app .... what about the fitness/activity app??? it would be soo helpful to see your rings on the Mac desktop
From Notes to Pages…
Can that just be done with doing Copy / Paste?
CMD+Space is the best part of a Mac. Still not sure I like the widgets on the desktop. I wish I could keep them grayed out all the time. I open apps taking up the whole screen most of the time, so I never see them grayed out. Always in full color.
Is the headline upgrade wallpaper? Apple is slacking in terms of their products and OS upgrades.
What model is the keyboard on the desk?
Have they fixed the terrible preferences panel?
I use safari tab groups, I don’t really see yet how I could combine them with Safari profiles.
is it fine to download in macbook air 2020?
Why is the first feature that is mentioned (when talking about Sonoma) are the wallpapers.
I understand that the new wallpapers are fun. And I know Apple has spent lots of effort to provide them. But how that doesn’t help me on a daily basis when I use my computer?
Im sticking to Ventura im too busy doing actual work on creating in my Music studio my mac studiondoesnt havebtimevto show me screen savers or the dedktop
Can someone with Sonoma install if he noticed any hit in performance? I am a bit concerned about installing it
Hey ! Do you know an app that hides the top notch. Top Notch app doesn't seem to work on Sonoma.
My Mac book air (M1 chip) shut down slower than before.
Otherwise all the same except the screen saver changed
How’s it possible to clean up and arrange folders on desktop? I don’t see the option when I press right button…
No link in Descrip for how to use Spotlight.
Guess I need to run on my Mac Mini M2 at some point.
Wallpapers and screensavers looks nice, but to be honest most of other new features are as usefull as single chopstick.
Agree. This could have been dot release.
Unless you have skipped previous updates (like my better half 🤣 )
Absolutely nothing you mentioned I would use, so why would I have any incentive to upgrade from Ventura 13.5.2 to Sonoma?
