I am forever grateful for whoever invented the cochlea implant. I lost my hearing completely in 2001. Had the implant the following year. I am 74 now, implant has given my life back. I shudder to think what my life would have been liked without it.
So happy that babies have a chance to live happily
My son’s hearing deficit was caught in one of those exams given at birth. At the moment, as a new parent, you feel absolutely lost. you don’t know what to do or expect. You are heartbroken for your son. Then the angels audiologists show up. I thank god everyday for them. Our son was fitted with hearing aids at 3 weeks of age. He is an adult now and has done nothing but great! A normal life, played competitive sports growing up, learned to play piano and gave recitals, and became a great scholar. So don’t dismay, they will be fine
That kid's gonna break some hearts when he grows up 😂. What a darling! May he grow a smart, kind, and happy child.

@@Stangelycoloured Yes - here in Denmark too and in Germany. Actually I think US is the only western country which hasn’t got this on public healthcare.

The day approaches when the implant will be a tiny chip and the exterior device will be easily hidden by hair. This is noble, holy work.

I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked on developing cochlear implants for decades so that millions of children and adults can enjoy the beautiful sounds that we all take for granted.
For those of us who have the gift of hearing, do not take it for granted
The smile said it all..
He is adorable! My mom had a cochlear implant and it was a blessing. However it is not “voices” she heard - more like electronic sounding if that makes sense? She had lost her hearing late in life, very suddenly with no warning. So she recognized she could not hear our actual voices, but over time her brain adjusted so she recognized us and new sound. She said I sounded like Minnie Mouse to her 😂. This technology is not perfect but is amazing nonetheless! We were so grateful to be able to converse with her for a few years before she passed away.
A friend had a cochlear implant in his 50s after years of progressive hearing loss - he said it was the best hearing aid and restored his hearing to near normal.

They was right about needing a tissue. This was hearthwarming :). Wonderful times we live in that make this possible :). I got a sister using hearing aid. She read lips and use sign, but she don't hear much even with aid.
Indeed, there are so many things and actions we take for granted. We thank God for science.

My son has usher syndrome too. He's 18 now and got his implant at 18 months. This technology is a game changer. I don't know what I would have done without it
